Stopped by the Glass Cactus Nightclub during a conference and wow it was such a cool venue. When you arrive you'll find parking in the Gaylord Texan parking garage and either walk to the venue or take a shuttle. This venue feels like a Las Vegas nightclub transported to Dallas and since it was rented out for an event it felt like we owned the place. For this event, there was catered bbq which was set up outside and then the concert took place inside. One Republic ended up performing that night and wow what a show. If I have the opportunity to stop by this venue in the future I definitely will. read more

Came out to see the Cirque Spirit of Christmas Show in which my friend's daughters performs. The Glass Cactus is a nightclub entertainment venue attached to the Gaylord Texan. Perfect size for small acts,you feel like you're part of the action. This show featuring international circus acts along traditional lines was high energy. The Glass Cactus is part of the very touristy Gaylord Texan Resort. So while it might not be the most hip and happening place around, you could do far worse as far as concert venues/event spaces (an evening at the Factory will definitely confirm this!). For one, it's much easier and safer to park here since you either have to use the valet service or the parking garage. What's even better is that they will validate parking inside the club, making the parking garage free. The club itself is modern, stylish and clean. It's also small enough so that there really aren't any bad spots to watch the stage. If you want some fresh air, the patio is comfortable with a scenic view of the lake. Getting a drink at the bar can be a little chaotic when everyone is scrambling to place their order before the show starts. But again, you could do far worse at other places in terms of the price and quality of drinks. I have never eaten here, but if the drinks are any indication of how good the food is then it's probably pretty decent as well. read more

Pretty venue, good for small events, I saw the Summer Cirque performance, and for the price you pay it's a good show. I saw kids in the audience, but just like any live performance kids should be old enough to understand what's going on to enjoy. The venue itself is beautifully located with views of lake grapevine and dedicated parking. Would make a lovely large wedding venue, business party or intimate concert. There is a full bar, however, I didn't partake or get pricing. Keep in mind this is NOT Las Vegas so on a lower scale of expectations +price+ location+ show value I give 4 stars. read more

I found myself at the Glass Cactus for an after-hours work event. This sparked my interest for a number of reasons: what food would they be serving? How night-clubby would we be getting? What kind of music would be played? Also, what food would they be serving? Did I mention food? Anyway, since I was staying at the Gaylord and the GC is on property, I made the quick trip over to check it out. You can easily walk to the GC from the main hotel area of the Gaylord (Google Maps said it would take ~12 minutes). They also have trolley service which we took advantage of as it was raining. Walking in, we were greeted by a large space with a bar in the middle. In addition to being a nightclub, GC markets itself as a space to host events such as weddings and corporate speaking engagements. I can see that - the space looks really versatile. There's a huge stage in the front that serves as a focal point, and windows on the perimeter which provides nice views of the surrounding lake. They had a live band playing while we were there, and several food stations serving Southern fare. Most of the food was good, nothing to write home about but not bad either; the chicken and waffles were my favorite. They also hosted a make-you-own spice rub station which was fun - after several sneezes I had a take-home souvenir. Drinks were fine - the menu was limited (likely due to arrangements being made with the Gaylord and the organization I was at the work event for), so I stuck to an Old Fashioned. They were making them in bulk due to the volume and overall it was fine. Everyone was friendly, and overall fine experience at Glass Cactus. The versatility of the space makes it a good spot to host a variety of events, and I wouldn't be disappointed if I found myself here again. read more

Had a conference dinner here and was less than impressed. Food was only OK, nothing spectacular. The bartenders were nice, but the selection was rather limited. Pretty much Corona for beer, 2 kinds of wine, and a couple rail Liquors. Glad I wasn't really in the mood to get hammered. Everything is super loud here, even if you go out to the deck, where you also have to dodge a lot of bird poop, since you're right near the water. Maybe it's different when not closed for a "special" event. read more

I saw a Duran Duran Tribute band here. It was a great time. The sound is very good - i.e., you can sit at a table and your don't have to shout to talk while loud enough at the same time to keep the energy level high. The view of the lake from the deck is spectacular and very romantic. Service was really good and this was the first time I've seen where you press a button and a light comes on your table that brings the server right over. I'd love to go back here! read more

Since I've never been here, I'll give this a 4 star review in order to not hurt it's not very glowing 3.4 star review. My review is more based on having zero idea what this place is and / or why locals would ever want to try to visit this place to "Enjoy live music by the lake, while sipping on craft cocktails and indulging in creative club cuisine" as their website suggests. The website lists no days / hours of operation. I only see from Yelp that it's apparently only open two (late) nights a week? There's no menu detailing their "creative club cuisine" or parking that, from other reviews, I see might be $22 for self parking which right away is a big "no". The website has the feel of this being a venue used by the resort for private events except on the few nights they have a concert / show. In no way does it act inviting to locals to sip on their "unknown craft cocktails and mystery creative club cuisine". It seems like a great location and would make for a nice "hang out" spot even before the 9pm two day per week open hours. But I suspect it's more a rental party / corporate venue than anything the general public would ever have interest in visiting. If that's not the case they need to do a much better job with their vague marketing. read more

We just saw an event there. The people are nice but the venue is old and in dire need of upgrades, and very overpriced.

Full Disclosure - I have not been to the Glass Cactus, but would like everyone to know what I discovered since I had to do a lot of legwork to find some basic information on the venue. - The Gaylord's website has minimal to no information on their venue (Glass Cactus) other than a calendar of events and the ability to purchase your entry tickets. No interior photos, No Menu, No FAQs, and no advisory on how to go about getting the information. - The number for Glass Cactus isn't answered and employees from the Gaylord are unaware that there is a $50 per person F&B minimum if you decide to pay the $30 for the VIP entry. - Parking is ~$25 for self & ~$45 for Valet. - We had to track down some basic information on the differences between the $15 cover and the "VIP" $30 cover. The answer?.......a table and $50 per person average F&B minimum. A complete lack of transparency and information. I'm glad I was diligent because I found out that if you want a table, you will be looking at spending about $75 - $100 per person to see a cover band. Not really worth the risk when you read the other reviews about the poor service, watered-down drinks, and sub par food. read more

My daughter and I came to see Texas Flood and we had a lovely time. Glass Cactus is a fun place with a modern vibe. The sound was good. Lots of room to chill, visit with friends, meet new people and dance if you want to. Our waitress and the bartender were so fun and very attentive. We went here for a friend's birthday party and it was really fun. We had about 15 people in our party and had reserved a table near the dance floor. The venue itself is beautiful. It sits on Grapevine lake and has a large patio and outdoor seating area and is plenty large enough to seat even the biggest groups. Inside is large and spacious and had an upstairs VIP section that they only open if it's really busy. We went on a Saturday night and they had two tribute bands, the first one was for INXS and the other was a George Michael impersonator. Both bands were really good, but not surprisingly the venue wasn't full, which actually made it more fun for our large group. The music was loud but the sound was great! We had bought bottle service and our servers were great. Very friendly and attentive. The crowd was older 40-50's but that could also be because of the bands playing. Valet parking and they validate self parking as well. It was a fun night. read more

Additional: I didn't get to see upstairs as it was closed off, but the patio was fantastic, overlooking the lake. I imagine brunch here would be really nice. I wore a t-shirt, shorts and flip flops and I did feel under dressed compared to the other ladies there. Great night life venue in grapevine. This is in the parking lot of the Gaylord Texan and they have a free shuttle so if you're staying you can get a ride over but if you're not you can still come and enjoy the nightlife. I've been here several times and always enjoyed the beautiful patio and the set up of the venue. We came in last night to celebrate our engagement with friends and enjoy the La Freak band. Cool place to go hang out and get your groove on. Nice night club, not too big not too small. They have three sections, indoors, outdoors and a private section upstairs with a gorgeous view of Grapevine Lake. The club is located right by the lake. They have a big stage with a live band playing most nights and a DJ who keeps the music flowing while the band takes a break. They broadcast live music from the stage to flat screen TV's on every corner of the club including the outdoor deck. You can hear the music and see the band playing on the flat screens or through the glass walls separating the inside and outside sections and still feel involved with all the fun inside. The only difference is the temperature outside and when it's cold they sure could use more heat lamps on those decks. One thing I like about this night club is that they do serve food, about 6-7 appetizers and entrées to choose from. Don't expect anything from it and you won't be disappointed. My "shrimp tempura" was served with Thai garlic chili sauce that you could get from any Asian grocery store, go figure. We are here for drinks and happy feet right? So, I'm not going to complain about the food. If you happen to be in this area or at the Gaylord Texan stop by and check them out. Groovy! They open at 5:00 pm, if you get in the club before 8:00 pm you don't have to pay the cover charge. This is a good venue for a night out especially when there's a good cover band performing like Emerald City or La Freak. In between sets, there is a DJ who plays top 40s, good mix up and definitely a range of people. If you get there before 8pm, there is no cover, but they charge a cover after! The dance floor is pretty big, and it gets packed. Valet is $10, but they have self parking at the garage, don't forget to validate your ticket when you leave! read more

Wife and I took a night away from the kids while on spring break with them and decided to head over here. We were staying at the Gaylord Texan so we benefited from no cover charge. (But with a daily resort fee of $18 we paid for it somehow). The band was emerald city band. It had thirteen band members and they covered many of today's hits. They rotated the lead singer with at least 4 different members and each offered their own unique voice to their song. The club was awesome. One of the best venues I've been in. Overlooking lake grapevine was very nice. We're getting a little old for this kind of night life but we were definitely not the oldest there I would say ages ranged from 20-80 and all in between. read more

Parking is terrible, just to go to a bar. Your choices are $22 to park in self-park. $22 to park at the convention center. OR wait 30 minutes in line for Glass Cactus valet parking which is $42. Then if you're seeing a concert, they tell you it starts at 9pm when the band doesn't go up until 10:30. This is so they can sell you overpriced drinks in 12 ounce plastic cups. But once you get your drink, there are very few tables so you're standing. This is a *horrible* venue designed from the ground up to nickel and dime you out of every dollar they can. Woo! Bachelorette Party! We grabbed the free shuttle from the Gaylord Texan Hotel and headed over to the Glass Cactus for some drinks and dancing. Getting in was easy, I am not sure if there was a cover but we all just flashed our ID and made our way through the doors. Upon entering I was so happy that it is a smoke free environment, no burns, hacks or smelly hair! I found my way to the bar and happily bought an obligatory round for my sister-in-law, sister and three other gals from the party. I was expecting a $50 or so tab and was just fine with the $32 or something total. There was a DJ mixing up some fun songs for just another 10 minutes of so before a band took the stage. An awesome, awesome band! They played a good mix of 80's, 90's and just a few new hits for an hour. The lead singer brought my SIL on stage, well, after I p-u-s-h-e-d her. Afterwards, the DJ took back over and hormones were running high. Notable moment...guy comes behind me dancing (close!) and my SIL reaches over, shoves his should and screams "She's married...to my brother!". Yeah, she did not remember that until she was reminded the next morning. Glass Cactus was a good time! Drinks are not completely over priced, the music was fun, the shuttle from door to door was appreciated and there are plenty of horny people willing to hook up - if that's your thing. read more

We were here for a wedding after party and this place is awesome! The music was live and there was a huge stage downstairs. There is a VIP upstairs patio area that leads you to the outside deck. The upstairs inside looks over the downstairs stage and dancing area. The upstairs outside is a view of the Grapevine Lake! The drinks are a bit pricey but they have the good stuff as far as liquor goes. The cocktails are made precisely each and every time so you have consistent drinks and service. There is a cover on the weekends and the crowd is on the "older" side compared to all the other clubs that allow teeny boppers in. This leads to the whole facility being a more clean and enjoyable environment. You don't go outside and smell marijuana and hear a ton of profanity on the patio either!! read more

This place is the Gaylord Hotel's bar on the lake. They have hugh patios, stage/dance floor and lots of seating. They hold many concerts there, so it's a great place to hear local and pretty popular bands. The dance floor is always packed and it's a decent size. The acoustics are great for live music. Sometimes they have bands/musicans playing outside on the patios. If you get there before 8pm, there is no cover unless it's a ticketed event. They have a decent happy hour, $4 for selected drinks. This is a fun place for happy hour, concert, dancing, meeting friends or just hanging out. You have options to choose from! read more

We went on Friday night with a group and the place was next to empty. There may have been 50-75 folks when it's designed for 1000+. That said, we had a great time and danced to the tunes of a solid band. They did shut down 10-15 minutes early which ticked off the wedding party who showed up. I came with a few friends to celebrate my birthday! I'm impressed with the dance floor as its big enough that you get too hot and overcrowded. We were there to see Focus3D and so glad we did as the music and sound system was great! I don't know what the regular crowd is didn't much matter to me as my intention was to dance and enjoy the evening! Thus far my favorite place to be as its clean, big, and a great place to dance. Not impressed with the food as I think its a bit pricey for not much on the plate. Better to eat out prior if your going to spend that much on food. I came with my girlfriend and we had so much fun! We were looking for a night club or dance venue to go to and there aren't too many near us, so wavered back and forth in trying to decide whether to go here. The general vibe was that the crowd was on the older side, which was weighing against going. In the end, we decided to take the risk and we are so glad we did! They had a band playing for half the time, which was great, but nobody was dancing at all (except for a few intoxicated couples) and felt sort of dead. But once the DJ turned the music on, everyone poured out onto the dance floors and it was lit. The music was amazing - a nice mix of throw back hip hop with some Latin merengue/bachata music and of course a few top-40 hits. I'm teetering between a 4 and a 5 this time around. I had a little bit better of an experience and was able to try the food this time, which upped the rating in my book. A colleague and I drove out here last night for a networking mixer. I forgot how HUGE the inside is... you could easily fit 1000 people just in the main area it seems like. The drinks were mixed well, the staff and managers were on point with everything and the entire place seemed upbeat. At one point, I stood at the bar for no more than 90 seconds before a manager asked me what I wanted to drink, got it from the bar, then said it was on the house for the wait. Whoa. I tried the chicken spring rolls with peanut sauce. They were alright but better than expected. The chicken sliders that Damany ordered looked amazing, as well as the onion ring towers and spinach dips that came out of the kitchen. Despite the booty dancing club music that started at 7pm, the place was empty except for our group. Maybe they get crackin' a little later in the night?
