We hosted a small happy hour event here and it was great. The hosts were very accommodating and everyone had a great time. Jose the bartender is really nice, fast and kept everyone fully hydrated on the best brews & cocktails throughout the evening. Came here for lunch with friends on a weekday. Service was mediocre: cool ambience, but the lights went out and nobody fixed them until I got up and asked; our drink glasses were sticky; and our server never once asked how our food was. If she had asked, I would have told her that the Thai Beef Salad - billed on the menu as a green papaya salad with rare seared beef on top - was the worst. Thai Beef Salad: the steak was really nicely seasoned and cooked, but the salad underneath had way too much red chili paste (?!), was soaked in a puddle of super-runny dressing that had no hint of fish sauce or fresh chili and citrus that you'd expect from a green papaya salad. It tasted like they used bottled lime juice and standard chili-garlic paste. The rest of the salad included 4-5 pieces of cucumber and tomato (the tomato was grainy and out of season), underdelivered on its promise of fresh herbs, on a heap of green papaya and vermicelli noodles that felt like a sloppy combination of two Vietnamese dishes. Beet Salad - my friend ordered this, and the ingredients were good, except for the bed of greens consisted only of beet greens - which would have been better if mixed with another lighter, less rough salad green. I think the chef could use a tune-up on his or her recipes. The rest of the food was overpriced (standard for the area) and mediocre. I would go back for drinks but definitely not for good. read more

We loved this open, welcoming space! I had the Cucumber Cutter cocktail, a fresh, delightful concoction, and my husband had a beer from their excellent draft list. Not four million beer options, but all good choices (would love to see Ipswich Ale on there, but I digress)! My husband had the roasted oysters, which were perfectly prepared. I had the beet salad, which was perfectly balanced between the beets and goat cheese and dressing - not overly dressed so the beet flavor was enhanced rather than erased. My husband had steak frites for his main course, which were again perfectly prepared. I had the falafel sandwich, also delicious. Just got done with this place. Why the 1 star you ask? First app was Oysters Rockefeller. The oyster shells come sitting on beds of SALT. The salt is the consistency of white rice. Not the consistency of table salt at all. It really looked like white rice I tell ya. I put the fork into the "rice" and took a mouthful of SALT!!! Who the eff uses salt as a garnish? This is really dangerous! Ruined the night for me. Anyway, the oysters were quite good! Other dishes I had were the lamb meatballs, which were dry and meh. Next up was the Coq au Vin - decent enough but nothing special. Choc bread pudding was fine. I cannot forgive the whole salt thing. They need to remove the salt garnish asap and replace it with something else. read more

We held our engagement party at Glass House and it was perfect! We had about 40 guests and we used the outdoor space primarily, though guests also mingled inside. Choosing our menu items was super easy as there are so many excellent choices, including vegetarian choices! Our guests loved the cocktail selection and all the food was delicious. Coordinating with the restaurant was easy and all their communication was prompt and professional. I initially chose this space because I love the interior design. So sad to write this as we were super excited to try this place. The only thing redeeming here was the ambiance and our nice server (who ironically didn't usually work there and was filling in from Ned Devine's). I saw the piece about Glass House on Chronicle and wanted to try it. I liked their drink list but the food was just not good. I ordered a burger and my boyfriend ordered the Steak Frites, both medium. My burger was flavorless and overcooked; the chutney was so overpowering that it was all you could taste. My boyfriend's steak was charred on the outside and reminded me of the steak you would get for a fajita, not Steak Frites in the least. It was overcooked as well. I had about three bites of my burger and stuck to the fries. I'm not sure if they had a bad night, as the reviews here looked great, but we were very disappointed and probably won't be back. We went to Commonwealth across the street after, which has awesome dessert and a great staff. read more

The amalgamation of flavors is exquisite and tantalizing. One minute you are having succulent and tender charred octopus and the next a lemony whitefish taco. We had a surprise party for my Wife's 30th birthday a few days after Christmas and everything about the process was spectacular. The location is totally reasonable with space rental, service was fabulous, and we had an overall amazing time. Their event menu was fabulous and met the needs of our gluten free and vegan friends. We loved the passed appetizers, dips, snacks and desserts. The pricing on everything was very fair and honestly is hard to beat in Boston. Venue is beautiful, easily accessible and clean. My husband and I hosted our pre-wedding rehearsal dinner at Glass House and had a fantastic experience. It was easy to coordinate with the staff in advance of our rehearsal dinner - someone was always available and prompt in responding to our questions. The day of, we felt like the event was very organized and always knew there way someone available to assist with a service request. Our guests raved about the food and beverage selection. I am a huge fan of most of the Briar Group restaurants and have been so impressed by the new concepts they have created over the past couple years. Last night was my first visit to their newest place, Glass House. The chef is one of my favorites of the Briar Group, Ben has done a great job at Anthem and I was excited to try his dishes. Charcuterie and cheese was delicious, nice presentation, gnocchi was of course yummy and cheesy. Fish Tacos were full of flavor, and my favorite that is at a number of places, is their chips and homemade onion dip! Love that they have Peachy Canyon Zinfandel by the glass! read more

Our hotel concierge recommended Glass House for a light bite with a nice view. The venue is nice: we sat on the deck. Service was very slow: we were offered water, which took awhile to bring at which time we indicated we were ready to order. After more time waiting (still without water), we flagged down another waitstaff and requested to order. Finally, the water was brought to us, we asked to order and were yet again told someone would come. Finally, we had our water, ordered drinks and the Little Gem Caesar. My prosecco arrived, but the salad took awhile. It arrived, split for us which was nice, but without both the anchovies and the fried capers. We requested those and, again after some time, the waiter brought the anchovies. Again, we waited and at last the hostess brought the capers. We then noticed that the lettuce was regular romaine, not Little Gem lettuce as advertised. We commented to the hostess, but she said that these were Little Gems (which by the way, have been under an ecoli warning recently). We dug in - at last - it was a very pedestrian salad, unremarkable except for the capers, which were crunchy and delicious. read more

Ambiance seemed very hospital like - looked sterile, white, and stiff...was not warm and inviting as my prefernace if restaurant would be. But I'll give them kudos the name is interesting but I feel they could have done some cool stuff with the decor. Anyways, besides the general look, the food was mediocre for the price (which was overpriced)- oysters were I think $3.00 which is insane and they had bits of shell in them. I choose Glass House because I was looking for a vibrant modern atmosphere. The Restaurant's decor is "ok". Food is way over priced (expected for the area), portion sizes are extremely small and the food lacked flavor. I ordered the basil margarita. when it arrived it was watered down, had no blackberries, and barely any alcohol. Desert was good. I like the chocolate bread pudding. I wouldn't suggest this restaurant to any of my friends or colleagues and I will not be returning. read more

Such a great addition to Kendall Square! This place has gastropub favorites like steak frites and charcuterie plates, but also brings in some fresh flavors and new twists. The Thai Beef Salad was loaded with fresh flavors and perfectly portioned, the fries were deliciously seasoned, and the thai curry hummus was amazing. The cocktail menu is good, but a little reliant on overly sweet cocktails and could benefit from a little more diversity. Can't say enough great things about Glass House! I've been twice in the past week and have a good feeling I'll be back lots more. The food is incredible- the grilled octopus is to-die-for and the pastrami sandwich I got today totally hit the spot. The bartender Tyreek obviously adds TLC to his drinks; I can honestly say these are some of the best cocktails I've ever had. My waiters Tim and Nicky were so attentive and personable that me and my work crew already feel like regulars! The manager Kaylee has made a point to stop by our table and check that we're satisfied and happy. Needless to say, the service here is incredible. Looking forward to many more visits in the future. Love the oysters here, especially during happy hour. Had the ramen and thought it was good, but not great. Also had the fish tacos and they are pretty good. This place was very good and the service was absolutely incredible. We were parked at 1-hour parking in front of a hotel and the women at the door went the extra mile to walk over to the hotel and explain we were eating so not to tow our car. This same women also gave us a free appetizer! It was chips and dip and it was delicious!! The potato chips were crunchy and tasty. We got out dinner and everything was very good. My sister and I got the steak which was cooked well, however had a Japanese type flavor which was very good but unexpected. The steak came with fries which were fine. My mother got the fish and chips which she said were very tender and well battered. In lieu of the fries it comes with she got the potatoes which were soft and seasoned well-they do come out of the kitchen very hot! My father got the shrimp with pasta, which was very good, but only came with three pieces of shrimp. Now the shrimp were very big but it was a little bit of a let down. My family then ordered a creme brulee, which was absolutely fantastic. The shell had a crunch but wasn't too hard, It had a light banana flavor that was not artificial or overpowering. I would recommend eating outside rather than in-weather permitting-just because inside it echos and makes it hard to hear your table mates. The only other thing I would say about this place is the portions are a little small for the price but it was high quality food. read more

My son planned a 30th. Surprise birthday party for his sister. The venue was perfect. They allowed us to have the back end of the bar, the patio, and the fire pit area which we loved. A welcome surprise was the access to the ping pong tables and corn hole that we all enjoyed. The variety of appetizers were very good and they allowed us to set up a little high top table for the birthday cake and presents. The bartender was very nice and the event planner was great to work with. This review is for lunch (take out), specifically the greens and grains wrap. I'm obsessed! Not to mention, some of the best fries I've ever had. When I first called I was told that fries came with it, and when it turned out that was not true the restaurant quickly prepared fries on the side without extra charge. They even caught this as I was picking up, so I wasn't disappointed when I got back to my office. I love this place. I went there for lunch today. They are a newcomer and I have been there 6 times in the last 4 months and I have never been disappointed in the food or drink. The sides are a tad bland but good quality ingredients. I love, love the roasted oysters. Soooo good. I have had the mussels many times and they are awesome, so flavorful and good sized also.
