I went here for Valentine's Day (I'm late on posting this review, I know!) and was very impressed. Despite being busy, the service was excellent. I'm usually so unsure what to order when everything on the menu sounds good, but the waiter was helpful and honest in his suggestions on both the food and drink menu. The drinks came out about 10 minutes before the food which was great; it gave my fiance and I time to talk and catch up - time I feel like you usually don't get often at restaurants! The drinks were stellar and the food was decent. I'd like to see more options on the menu, as it did seem a bit limited especially if people had dietary restrictions. I'd love to go back here just for the drinks, but the service was great and I'd definitely like to try a few more many items. Overall: I recommend! read more

We came to Glass House a bunch of times over the course of a few weeks as it served as the host bar for an after-work cornhole league. This review is primarily for the bar service and appetizers as we didn't order that many entrees during our visits. There is a pretty robust and unique craft beer selection, and the bar drinks are well-made, however the outdoor patio bar selection was pretty limited. That would be fine, except they offer the full draft beer menu outside and the bartenders then had to frequently run inside to grab orders. This caused a lot of backups at the bar when busy. In addition, our tabs were incorrect 2-3 times over the course of our visits - a lot of disorganization. The bartenders and staff also didn't seem that interested in being the host bar for the league (despite the additional business we brought in). Finally, prices are pretty steep compared to the area; my wife is pregnant and even the mocktails and fountain sodas are gonna set you back. Overall, our experiences at Glass House were pretty off-putting. You're not missing anything by skipping this place - plenty of better options in the Kendall Square area. read more

Delicious food and good service! We came here for brunch on a weekend and ordered eggs benedict and French toast, along with drinks and were not disappointed! The drinks were yummy and potent, and the food portions were very generous. Everything came out fairly quickly, and we never felt neglected by the wait staff. read more

So this place shows up as one of Boston's most Instagrammable restaurants when you Google it and when you walk in, you totally get why. It is literally glass everywhere, so a) that light hit different and b) you can snoop at what everyone else is eating and drinking. I came here for a work lunch with three others. We ordered the honey-sriracha hummus (very flavorful) and then each of us ordered our own sandwich. I had the mushroom melt, which was soooo incredibly truffle-y and cheesy. It came out piping hot with delicious well-seasoned fries and would totally have been Instagrammable had I not been at a work lunch.. The waitstaff is exceedingly friendly and efficient. Decent spot near the biotech hub in Cambridge - the usual overpriced for the area but that's just what that area is... It wasn't very busy and we were kind of ignored - we had to flag people down for drinks and to order food but overall service was friendly and the food was delicious. read more

Good food ruined by awful hostess and worse noise Our family of four dined here recently on a not so busy Monday night. Unfortunately, the hostess seated us immediately next to and behind a very large and boisterous party and refused to allow us to move. We had reservations, there were open tables available, yet she would not budge. We should have taken this a hint to leave...but sadly did not. So for three quarters of our meal we literally had to shout at each other to be heard. And look at the empty tables at which she refused to let us sit. Which was a shame since both food and drink were good. The clam chowder, oysters, octopus, and lobster roll were in fact exceptional for a non-seafood focused restaurant while other dishes such as the Thai beef salad were equally tasty. As were the (not) Mint Julep and Frojito. But at base I would never go back...and would suggest you avoid it as well unless you just want to hang out at the bar. It isn't as if Cambridge suffers from a scarcity of wonderful restaurants in which one can actually enjoy dinner with friends and family. read more

I waited to give my review on this place because I first went when it opened. I went there again and now I think I'm ready to give my assessment. For the first time Me and the BF got the gnocchi lamb poutine, roasted oysters, fried fish tacos and the charred octopus. Our first visit was great I loved the food and even asked for bread to be brought out so I could dip it in the sauce from the poutine. For drinks I got to taste two white wines and picked one for my glass and the BF got a beer. We were impressed and new that we would be back again! We went last night, 18th to celebrate my birthday. The server was great. We ordered the same items mentioned above in addition to the smoked blue fish and well our taste buds didn't have the same experience as the first time. The poutine had just too much gnocchi and there was no sauce for dipping the bread-very unfortunate. Also the poutine looked like it was premade and not fresh like the last time. The charred octopus didn't melt in my mouth like the last time. Although we enjoyed the fried fish tacos it was missing a sauce to blend the flavors. I didn't enjoy the smoked fish but my bf did so I think that the flavor wasn't best for me. For drinks I went with a sparkling rose which was served in a fancy glass and he got beer. The service was absolutely wonderful it was attentive but also he gave us time to ourselves which we always like. Overall, I'm giving this place 3 stars because of their lack of consistency. Because this is a restaurant the food should be consistent throughout and well it wasn't. It's definitely a must try- when the kitchen is having a good day. The service is wonderful! read more

Service is slow and the place is very loud and crowded even for a pub, but the food is great which really makes up for everything.

Average over-priced place in Kendall. The flint lime margarita (12$) was not very spicy, and had kind of a strange taste; I'm not sure the jalapeno and blood orange worked well together. The Chef's flatbread (15$) was basically what you'd expect: potatoes on flatbread is difficult to do badly. Pan seared salmon (26$) had a nicely cooked salmon, but the rest of the stuff was not as well done. It came with a "crispy" quinoa cake which was just... a pile of quinoa with slight toughness on the bits on the sides, and the baby bok choy was a single piece of bok choy sliced in half lengthwise and grilled. (Thus making it logistically super annoying to eat). The wasabi-edamame emulsion didn't have much flavor and seemed to only serve the purpose of inflating the menu description. The bread pudding and creme brulee were okay, but nothing special. read more

Came for lunch. Got the lobster roll (more on that later). The waiter took 20 minutes to come by at first, never brought us drinks we ordered (until we asked someone else after ~20 minutes). Simar crazy wait at the end for checks. This was at like 1:30, so the lunch crowd was already gone and the place was pretty empty. Lobster roll was $30 and very mediocre / had a good amount of shell in it. My friends meals looked better and cost less so maybe the lobster roll is just a really bad choice. Pros 1.Very nice looking place. 2 Seating is convenient . 3. Was not too busy on a Monday night. 4. I had the lobster roll. And it tasted pretty good. 5. It is one of those places where they have few sample tips calculated at the bottom. Like 15% is X amount, 20% is Y amount. I don't know about you, but I like it when they have it. 6. You get same amount of lobster but for a lower price in comparison with other places such as the nearby "Legal Sea Foods". Cons 1. The service was a bit slow. 2. The portion was pretty small. (But they do mention it is 1.25lbs of Lobster. I think it is my mistake of not knowing that they weigh including the shell) All in all, good place to eat out once in a while. read more

We came here for a large group dinner, since it was in a convenient location very close by the campus and to the red line. It was located by the water and had a nice view through the large glass windows facing the Charles. I was quite confused on first pass of the menu. It was a fusion of... many things: Burger, ramen, risotto... I guess it's not wrong for them to call themselves a new American restaurant because it does source inspiration from around the world. I wasn't too hungry, so I ordered a cocktail and the flatbread from the appetizer section. Both were decent, though the flatbread was a bit oil for me. Everyone in the party ordered different items and all enjoyed their food. Judging from the portion sizes, although Glass House is on the pricier side, it's got good value. As for service, I can't say because we were just too big of a crowd for any real service, but the servers were friendly, helpful, and also kind enough to help us sort out splitting bills in the end. I'd be willing to go back again for a weekend brunch on a nice day, since they do have different menus, and also for the great interior decoration and view! read more

I came to Glass House for a few drinks with coworkers last Thursday and really enjoyed it. We stuck with drinks so I can't speak much to food but the menu looked delicious. One person did order a side of fries thinking she could share with us all but it was very, very small. Only $5 and they were good fries, but worth noting that portion sizes all around may be on the small side. They have a good variety of beers (what I drank), but others in my group tried cocktails and wine and were very happy. They also have a second bar out on the patio so that you don't need to go in and out to get drinks if you weren't able to grab an open table. Our waitress was very sweet and pretty attentive given how crowded the patio was. She was even able to get us a plastic cup with a lid full of water for my friend's baby (didn't want to risk him shattering glass on the patio. When we were starting to wrap up she kindly offered to charge each of our cards separately which was an unexpected bonus. For my spouse's birthday, I wanted to invite a large group of her friends to a dinner/hang out in a beautiful outdoor space. I looked all over Cambridge for a place that would allow me to make a reservation for a group of ten outside - no dice. Finally, the nice folks at The Glass House told me (over email, with swift responses!) that they couldn't guarantee an outdoor table, but would do their best to make it happen, and if not, would give us a table in the bar area near the patio. They were also cool with the fact that guests would be arriving at different times throughout the evening and didn't require our whole party to be present to be seated. When we arrived, we WERE able to sit outside - hooray! The atmosphere was lovely, the server was patient and kind with our large group, and food/drinks were perfect for a birthday hang out. We were a large group of over-35 women of color, mostly queer, and felt comfortable with the crowd there on a Tuesday night. Everyone commented on what a great place it was and what a "find." I came here with my parents when it was still "hot and new." My parents always make me pick the restaurant when the family goes out to eat so to discourage that, lol, I started picking places I've never been to so we can all be surprised. With Glass House, we were all pleasantly surprised. My parents raved about how good their food was cleaned their plates! Now I'm not any closer to being off the hook for dine-out duty. But I still gotta talk about my food. I ordered the lobster soup and baby bok choy. These people know how to cook lobster. It was so tender and soft. This soup melted in my mouth. Definitely one of the best lobster bisques (is this not a bisque?) I've had. Definitely better than Legals. I hesitate to say this because I don't wanna betray a favorite restaurant... it was better than at The Red House (for reference if you've never been, they've dedicated a whole portion of the menu to lobster). The lobster in this soup was so so soft. Incredible. Why incredible? Because soup is a hot liquid (neato) so generally in a lobster soup the lobster continues to cook while in the hot liquid and is always ever so mildly or markedly over cooked, never perfect. This was perfect. Yeah I said it. The lobster in my soup was perfect. I would come back for this alone. The baby bok choy is a healthy and delicious side. It's very plain but dazzles you in taste and texture likely because it too was cooked to perfection. Our server seemed annoyed rather than helpful in making suggestions for options on the menu. I ordered the ramen and a few bites in, regretted my decision and didn't finish the rest. We hosted our wedding reception here and couldn't have asked for a better venue! The location was lovely for photos by the Charles and the small canal with kayaks, and they were able to open up the glass doors so that the outdoor and indoor space were essentially combined. We'd had the North End buffet option which was delicious, and the bartenders and staff were all incredibly friendly. Everyone we talked to afterwards spoke about how much they enjoyed the event, and we credit that heavily to the planning and day-of help from Shauna and Kristen. I had the burger (there is only one in their menu) and it didnt dissapoint. The burger is served with cheese only - however it is possible to add tomatoes, onions, etc. The highlight of the dish were the pickles which they do in house. They were delicious with the right balance between sweet and tangy. I had my burger well done and it was really good and also juicy not burned or dry. I would highly recommend this place so far for their burgers only however I am sure chances are the rest of the menu is pretty good as well. read more

Glass House is located in the heart of Kendall Square but kind of off the beaten path. The restaurant is called Glass House as it has floor to ceilings glass windows. The front of the restaurant has a bar in the middle and on one side with tables around the edges. The back of the restaurant however is this other room with tables in it that feels oddly sterile; almost like a fancy cafeteria. The food here is pretty good. The oysters were fresh and local, the muscles were also amazing, served in a lobster bisque type liquid that you want to slurp up after polishing off the muscles. We also tried the fish and chips which had a really nice fry on them and were super flaky on the inside. Glass house just doesn't really wow for some reason. The food prices are on the high side, which is expected for the area but not really worth it in this case. If they were to commit to being really fancy that would work or even dropping the prices and making the place more modern casual then it may be a bit more busy. Overall a good option if you're in the area and don't want to worry about not having good food, but definitely not my first choice. read more

I love the decor and design here. The monotone prints of people on the walls are fun and eclectic. However, I sat outside near the outdoor bar with corn hole on a bright summer day. I had a basil blackberry margarita with the mussels; both were yummy and refreshing. My two friends had the pizza and salmon, they both loved them. I love the atmosphere of Glass House, but unfortunately each time I've been here I've had pretty bad service. Most recently, our server gave us a wrong menu, told us he didn't have any of the drinks we wanted, and then watched over our shoulders as we looked over the new menu. It was awkward and I felt rushed, which is not how I want to make the decision to order something that's going to cost me $10. Otherwise, it was fine. They seem to have a nice selection of drinks. I wasn't super hungry, but we ordered some fries, which were good but a very small order for $5. It also got extremely crowded, which I wasn't expecting in a weeknight, but definitely detracted from the ambiance a little bit. Nope, not a place I'd go to again. I went here because there were pretty good reviews on Yelp, and the description of where this place was located sounded great. We got there at about 7 on Sat. night. The place was dead inside. That should have been our clue to leave. I should have looked closer at the menu. It has upscale fancy dishes and few choices to pick from. I told my friends that is probably a good thing because that means the chef is probably well trained at cooking these few dishes. I settled on the steak frites. It was delicious, tender & cooked med. My friend ordered the lobster bisque soup. She didn't have any lunch, and at 2 a.m. she woke up very sick to her stomach. Sadly, she attributed it to food poisoning and I told her she should report it to the health department. I would just advise everyone to read the menu before you go here. There wasn't anything else on there that I would have eaten besides the steak and fries. read more

Was lucky enough to come here during their "soft opening" for friends and family and was so pumped by the warm vibe, good food, and the great service (shout to my girl, Fong!). The place is really nice and located in the heart of Kendall where all the new spots are popping up. The best things on the menu: the kale salad was really good, also liked the ghnocci with the lamb a lot, and thought the drinks (Palomas!) were great. A fun place to have good food and start the night off post-work before going out to some of the more intense cocktail bars in the area like Art Science. I heard about this place recently opening, so I figured I'd give it a try not having heard too much about it yet. I didn't have any problem getting a reservation for a weekend evening, and after getting there, I don't think I would have needed a reservation. The hostess was very friendly in greeting us when when arrived though, and we were promptly seated. The space has an interesting retro feel with some abstract tiles on the floor and pop art graffiti on a few of the walls and things. The summer has been unseasonably cold, but there is an outdoor space also, which I don't think was open on the evening we ate here. The lighting and vibe wasn't particular to any type of scenario, but I'm sure it would be a good date spot or place to meet friends. The menu is a little bit limited in terms of main courses, so instead of ordering like normal people, we just ordered a bunch of drinks and appetizers--there's nothing wrong with that. We had a few of their cocktails, which were relatively strong. Our favorite was probably the midnight oil, which was a whisky cocktail. As I mentioned, we ordered a few appetizers, which included the chips and dip (deliciously crisp, thick chips with an onion dipping sauce), the stuffed clams (with bechamel sauce--pretty standard but still good), charred octopus (with black bean aioli and tons of meat but could have been cooked a little bit longer), ale battered fish tacos (again, standard, but very good), and the ramen (with flavorful broth and a delicious soft cooked soy egg), which because they knew we were sharing, brought in two half portions. The food was all good, but our favorites were the stuffed clams and the fish tacos. We had more than enough food, and could have probably ordered one or two fewer plates. Overall, the service was prompt and friendly and the food was good, but I didn't think that anything was necessarily outstanding. The space itself is promising and they've done a good job trying to create a distinct brand for themselves. I hope that as this place becomes more established and expands their menu a little bit and also tweaks their current dishes to make them a little bit more flavorful and unique. A welcome addition to the neighborhood with a lot of things going for it. The bar staff know what they're doing and also look like they are having fun which creates a welcoming atmosphere. Cocktails were solid. Wine options on tap are passable and bottled options are preferable. Octopus appetizer was sensational and likely one of the best in the city. Goat curry was also good as was the cock au vin. Overall a terrific experience. Minor point of confusion is the identity of the restaurant. Is it seafood? Is it new American? What is it? The raw bar on the side says seafood but the menu says an eclectic collection of modern dishes. Either way the chef knows what he is doing and all the food was very good. Will be back and I look forward to how this restaurant will mature over time. read more

Discovered this establishment yesterday and was so grateful for the luck! I were with three little humans; two of them are picky eaters, but they were ALL very pleased with what they ordered. The oysters, hummus, Harvest Bowl, Steak Frites, Burger, Pork and kimchee Ramen were fantastic. I also ordered a special of chorizo omelette. Not only was everything delicious, the service was great. Discovered Glass House on an Off The Beaten Path Food Tours Kendall Square Food Innovation Tour, and I'm really glad that I did! First of all, the place is stunning from the bar (comfy seats) to the beautiful bathrooms (check out the glistening tile.) I love that they pour everything into glass, which pays homage to the glass manufacturing that Kendall Square was known for in the late 1800's. They have interesting looking trivia nights as well, so I can't wait to come back next month for the next one. read more

Like most places these days, this place is loud and it's difficult to have a conversation with your table guests. Service here is what this review is about. This place was far from being overly busy and the wait time to be greeted by a server was extraordinarily long. We typically like to have a cocktail before dinner but that opportunity was lost by the time we were finally approached. We ordered our appertisers and entree's at the same time for at this point we were hungry and ready to eat. Our appertisers arrived, we took a few bites and then our entrees arrived before we even had a chance to get half way through our appertisers. This type of situation is telling about an operation that has no real sense of a dining experience. Just another restaurant, capitalizing on a booming real estate location! All in all, food was bland as well as the decor. There are other great choices in this neighborhood. read more

Food : Great! After eating at a couple places and feeling like the food was unhealthy, it was refreshing to come to Glass House and have healthy and delicious food. Environment: Great space. The oustkirts are a little industrial or commercial but otherwise the environment and decoration are really nice and perfect for a work lunch Service: I can't decide if the service is really good or really bad....I am going to go with really bad: 1. Our server interrupted our table of 7 to tell us the specials. Like 3/7 people were still in the middle of the conversation and she didn't ask for attention or anything- she just proceeded to talk over us and expect us to stop. 2. She never came to stop by and refill our waters or take our orders. I had to track her down. Fortunately, I had ordered appetizers ahead of time but we had to wait 20minutes for her to take our food orders - so our 1 hour lunch turned into an 1.5- which is A LOT when you are in the middle of audit/year end season. 3. i couldn't reserve a table for 7- i had to reserve 2 tables: one for 3 and one for four and then call them to say to merge them. That might not be a problem with Glass house- but I thought I would share with everyone. For the record- no points were deducted based on that last one. read more
