The smell in the air of the pine and forest are worth every penny. Each room has a private deck with table and chairs overlooking the forest behind the lodge. Inside the main lodge is beautiful and clean, with a pool table and games upstairs. They also have cabins for rent and an entire house for larger groups. The cost is better than the hotels in town, and for the privacy and quiet, this is the only experience worth paying for. But if you need something, town is only a couple minutes drive. My sweety and I spent our evenings during by the pond, listening to the fountain and looking at the stars. The people here have been incredibly polite, friendly, and as helpful as you could ask for. I understand that ownership has changed hands in recent months, so don't give any heed or negative reviews. These people are not the same. Fantastic place! We HIGHLY recommend staying here. BEWARE! This place turns a blind eye to thieves!…read more One of PLAYLive's regular customers defrauded at least three people out of over $1000 worth of M:TG cards through FaceBook trading groups. What does this have to do with PLAYLive you ask? Fair question! PLAYLive printed at least two of that person's shipping labels for these fraudulent transactions. Said labels lists PLAYLive as the return address. The person then never sent the packages after the labels were generated. I reached out to PLAYLive through FaceBook to ask about this. They said they would check with the person involved and let me know. A month went by and they never got back to me. Today I contacted them to make them aware of another package that PLAYLive had printed out for this person back in December. The reply I got was "it has nothing to do with me" and to "stop harassing me." I want to be clear; I am not saying PLAYLive was knowingly complicit in this person's thefts. However, they have been presented with what I consider indisputable evidence that one of their regular customers is a thief. In my opinion, turning a blind eye to this is putting all of their other customers at risk to have property stolen.

We made a reservation for 8pm on a Saturday, and honestly, they weren't packed (they still had plenty of tables open). When we arrived there was no one at the host stand, and when they came they didn't check us in right away. Once we confirmed the reservation it took about 10 minutes for us to be seated, and there was a couple that came after us that had a reservation at the same time and were seated before us (okay, no big deal). We did get a window seat, which was nice. But this is supposed to be an upper scale restaurant in the area, and the silverware we were given was dirty, so not a great start. The server came to take our order, we ordered mocktails and a huckleberry lemon drop as well as the bread basket and the cured meat and cheese plate- compared to the Cutwater, honestly, no comparison. The teens didn't even drink the mocktail (which the server did take off the bill, and that was nice) and the lemon drop was okay. The bread basket and meat plate were fine, but we wouldn't order them again. My son ordered the 12oz ribeye (which was nearly 60.00) and I would say at least 50% of it was fat, and his was overcooked. I ordered the flat iron, and mine was undercooked, so he ended up eating mine. The herb roasted potatoes needed seasoning and felt like something they simply tossed on the plate. My daughter's Caesar salad was as expected to a side salad. Our server never came to check on us after the food was brought out, and we waited for her to return after we were done with the food for nearly 20 minutes. Overall we were disappointed and not truly certain why this place is recommended above other similar places in town. Very expensive, seems like it is trying to be upscale or more "fine-dining" but it missed the mark for us.

We wanted to get away for our anniversary and decided to go to McCall. We moved to the Greater…read moreBoise area about six weeks ago and McCall was recommended. We chose the Nordic Inn based on the two Yelp reviews available. I can't find any evidence of correspondence but I thought I had let them know that it was our anniversary. When we arrived in McCall, it was about 11 am. We inquired of the woman at the counter about early check-in. She really didn't answer, just smiled and indicated that 3 pm was check-in time. It was an odd exchange. We asked about recommendations for restaurants for lunch. She just said "Everything is good". Not much help. When we came back, just after 3, the office was locked and another man was waiting. We stood there another five minutes, wondering what was going on, before a woman showed up, explaining that she was in the laundry room, taking care of a problem. She was nice and cheerful, and got us checked in fairly quickly. We were given a first floor room. Our small window was facing the stairwell. For our anniversary. The room was small but clean. There is a cool glass and metal barn door covering the bathroom entrance. The vanity and bathroom/shower are very small. There was no box of tissues in the room. The shower water pressure is weak. The fan works great. The AC works fine. There is a shortage of electrical outlets, none on my side of the king bed. The bed was reasonably comfortable. The property is located on the main drag, a medium walk from the lake and main downtown area. Dark wood and rustic looking. The parking lot could stand to be repaved. When we checked out, about 10:45 am, there was no one in the office. We dropped the keys in the box. We will definitely return to McCall, but I don't think we'll be back to the Nordic Inn.

We ordered the prime rib dip, steak and pesto pasta, and it was all full of flavor, fresh, and honestly, the best food of the trip. The ambiance is wonderful. The staff were all friendly and hospitable, the views were fantastic, and the food was divine. If you're in the area, definitely make a reservation here! You won't be disappointed.

The dish also included baby bok choy cabbage, which was so tough I couldn't cut it with a knife and it was too big to stuff into my mouth whole. Maybe it would have tasted good? Who knows? It was inedible because I couldn't cut it into smaller pieces. And if I couldn't cut it with a knife, I doubt that I could have even chewed it up appropriately. The rice was a sushi rice and served as a formed ball on the plate. It was dry, undercooked, and I needed a knife to separate it into smaller chunks. It would have been better if there had been enough teriyake sauce to soften it up a bit. Basmati or jasmine rice would have been a much better choice providing either was cooked fully. For dessert I ordered the rhubarb panna cotta. The panna cotta had no discernable flavor. Maybe it was vanilla? But the very worst part of the dish was the "compressed rhubarb", which is a trendy, modern culinary technique and is supposed to transform the fibrous stalks into a crisp texture. It was a total fail. The long, thin strips of rhubarb were the color of dead earthworms and looked like tendons from a human cadaever. It was completely inedible. I tried one piece but it was like chewing on a shoe lace - very fibrous and tough - and with little flavor. I ended up spitting it out on my plate. I left a big pile of these dead earthworms on my plate. The other odd thing about the dessert menu is that at least 2 (or maybe 3) of the other choices involved charred items. The panna cotta wasn't charred nor was the sorbet but all the other items were. Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but I really would prefer my desserts not burned. If I burned a dessert, I wouldn't serve it to my guests. All in all, this was a very disappointing meal. I live locally and have eaten at the Cutwater many times. This was by far the worst food that I've had there. Do better Cutwater!

Several issues with McCall Party Rentals…read more.. 1) TERRIBLE COMMUNICATION: I first contacted them for a September wedding on January 20th to rent string lighting, stand heaters and beverage tubs. I emailed them SEVERAL times trying to get a contract set up, they never followed through with any contact. There were always excuses, too busy, needing to do a phone call instead, etc. I would give them numerous options for availability and nothing. I'd constantly have to bug them and still nothing but excuses. FINALLY my husband was able to get the stand heaters and tubs rented from them 3 weeks prior to our wedding but now we'd have to do the pick up and drop off because they were too booked. Super frustrating that it took 9 months to book but at least we had the items (lights were no longer needed). 2) THEIR EMPLOYEES STOLE: We show up to our venue and there are 140 chairs and bar height tables left from the previous wedding they did...In the space we needed to set up in. The venue manager had called them several times to let them know the week prior and they still weren't picked up. So now we have to deal with them around picking up their left items so we can set up our own event. We had to work around the left items and move them ourselves out of our way. Two of their employees finally show up Friday evening to pick up the items. I instructed them not to take the tubs or heaters as we had rented those for our event. Not surprised, one of our family members had to stop them from loading the tubs up. We had all of our table decor set up prior to the employees getting there. We also had tubs of items in the building, one tub contained 4 clear umbrellas for our ceremony, as rain was in the forecast. We found the last 4 clear umbrellas in the valley before heading up to relieve the stress of us being dry if it rained. I stopped back to the event building as their employees were leaving, I noticed things were opened and gone through. Our back table candle centerpieces were gone and so were 2 of our umbrellas. Not only that but the venue's shop vacuum was also missing. Two employees and two sets of missing centerpieces and two umbrellas plus a shop vacuum. 3) NO FOLLOW UP AGAIN: We called right away that evening about it. No call back. We called again in the morning. We didn't even care about the decor at that point, we needed those umbrellas. The company said the boss was meeting with the employees that morning and would get to the bottom of it. In the meantime our family spent the morning scouring McCall for 2 umbrellas that could be used instead of enjoying the day. NOT A SINGLE CALL BACK HAS HAPPENED. My husband called twice more with no response. They haven't apologized, they haven't updated us, they haven't offered to make it right in any way. What a terrible company. 0/10 do not recommend. Get it together McCall Party Rentals and stop hiring thieves and creating unnecessary stress for your customers.
