    Dirty martini

So... we were honest said we are here for happy hour grabbing a drink and be out in an hour. We had a minor had to sit in the restaurant. The good: Very nice place on the waterfront. Great dirty martini $5 and the horse feather drink delish. Order the Himalayan Momos to try very interesting and good option to try something different. The bad: waitress. No personality or social skills. Couldn't even tell us the spices in the momo. If she could have thought outside of the box could've got us a mock tail for up charge. Instead spent her time chatting behind the scenes with other coworkers.

We decided that the fish preparation was so good on our last visit that we would give Rupert's one more try. We were glad we did. The fish was cooked perfectly. It was so moist and flaky and perfectly seasoned, not over or under. The risotto was also cooked well which is a feat for risotto. The food wasn't our concern as last time it was tasty and well cooked. This time the service was much improved. We had the same bartender, John. He remembered us from our previous visit and greeted us warmly. We didn't order an appetizer so there was no issue with the timing of the delivery of our entrees. We were provided with utensils immediately after ordering. Our menus were taken away which gave us the needed space for our food and beverages. We arrived at 5pm and we were lucky to get bar seating. John informed us that they would stop serving entrees in the bar at 6pm as a bridal party had booked the entire outside patio. He was the sole bartender, so that was understandable. I would recommend that if you don't have a reservation to arrive early for bar seating. The seating in the bar area offers views and has seats at the bar as well as high tops and a window seat in a quieter area. I would definitely recommend Rupert's Fish Fridays.

The place was booked. We had reservations at 7:30. Too late for our family. Brittany got us tables at the bar area at 5 PM. Our waiter, John, accommodated us and served us well. The Thai crab cakes were great, as was the Thai curry. My wife and I had the skirt steak, cooked to perfection. One brother had the pork chop, which he enjoyed thoroughly. One of the better places in McCall to enjoy a meal.

My husband and I had dinner here last Saturday Night and we had a wonderful relaxing time. Our host was kind and sat us near the view windows. The ambiance was nice and quiet. The food was delicious, I had the elk meatloaf and my husband had the steak. It was so delicious I licked my plate (not literally but you get it). Would definitely recommend

Beautiful dining atmosphere on the south side of Payette Lake. Discovered Elk Meatloaf is absolutely tasty with Weller 107 bourbon. Food was amazing and the service was good. Stop by when in McCall, Idaho. You won't be disappointed!

At the last minute I requested a table by a window/water view, and even though they said they may not be able to meet the request, they did, and our view was gorgeous. Everything we tried was honestly amazing- we started with the bread basket and spinach and artichoke dip, and it was so delicious. The teens got mocktails, which they enjoyed, and I had a huckleberry martini style drink, and it was also excellent. Our server recommended the soup of the day, and it was perfect for the rainy weather. We ordered the prime rib dip, steak and pesto pasta, and it was all full of flavor, fresh, and honestly, the best food of the trip. The ambiance is wonderful. The staff were all friendly and hospitable, the views were fantastic, and the food was divine. If you're in the area, definitely make a reservation here! You won't be disappointed.

Beautiful setting on Payette Lake, but the food left something to be desired. I ordered the…read moreteriyake salmon. I enjoyed the salmon; it was cooked well and had a nice sauce on it. The dish also included baby bok choy cabbage, which was so tough I couldn't cut it with a knife and it was too big to stuff into my mouth whole. Maybe it would have tasted good? Who knows? It was inedible because I couldn't cut it into smaller pieces. And if I couldn't cut it with a knife, I doubt that I could have even chewed it up appropriately. The rice was a sushi rice and served as a formed ball on the plate. It was dry, undercooked, and I needed a knife to separate it into smaller chunks. It would have been better if there had been enough teriyake sauce to soften it up a bit. Basmati or jasmine rice would have been a much better choice providing either was cooked fully. For dessert I ordered the rhubarb panna cotta. The panna cotta had no discernable flavor. Maybe it was vanilla? But the very worst part of the dish was the "compressed rhubarb", which is a trendy, modern culinary technique and is supposed to transform the fibrous stalks into a crisp texture. It was a total fail. The long, thin strips of rhubarb were the color of dead earthworms and looked like tendons from a human cadaever. It was completely inedible. I tried one piece but it was like chewing on a shoe lace - very fibrous and tough - and with little flavor. I ended up spitting it out on my plate. I left a big pile of these dead earthworms on my plate. The other odd thing about the dessert menu is that at least 2 (or maybe 3) of the other choices involved charred items. The panna cotta wasn't charred nor was the sorbet but all the other items were. Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but I really would prefer my desserts not burned. If I burned a dessert, I wouldn't serve it to my guests. All in all, this was a very disappointing meal. I live locally and have eaten at the Cutwater many times. This was by far the worst food that I've had there. Do better Cutwater!

Our server Brittany greeted us promptly and was very pleasant and attentive to our every need. My wife had the Chehalem Chardonnay and I had a glass of the Prisoner. Both were served promptly and were perfect. We ordered the Pepper Jelly Glazed Pork Belly as it sounded very unique. A word of caution though, the portion is very large with two big cuts of pork belly. The jelly glaze and seared crust on the pork belly was excellent and tasty. The pork belly itself tasted very good, but wasn't as tender as we expected. We expected a much more tender meat. That isn't to say it was tough (it wasn't) or very good (it was!). However, this is very rich for an appetizer. It could really be a main entree! My wife ordered the special for the day, which was a surf & turf with scallops and a "Denver cut" steak. She ordered the steak medium (defined by Brittany as pink but no red). She said the scallops were perfectly cooked. Tender and tasty. However, the steak was medium rare at best. Brittany agreed that it was not medium and took it back to correct. When the steak was returned, it was better, still not medium, but acceptable. That's when my wife discovered how fatty the cut of meat was. A large part of it was all fat and not edible. I on the other hand ordered the 8-Oz Double-R Ranch Tenderloin, medium rare+. It was perfect, juicy, flavorful, and satisfying. Cooked perfectly. We ordered a side of Asperagus which was delicious, but again be aware, the portion was more than enough for two and probably could have been shared by 3 or 4! In conclusion, the service was impeccable (Brittany A++!), the food was good (but should have been great), wine was excellent, and ambiance is perfect!

The fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. The dip for the finger steaks had a good amount of horseradish in it, wasn't overpowering but put heat into the bite. They did bring an extra plate, which was nice, and not to be charged for it is even better.
