The cutwater is a great place for a view of the lake. The service on the other hand is severely lacking but you're not really paying for that. If you know going in that service will most likely not be great (our experience 2 different times with 2 years apart) then you won't be disappointed. My party of four was so disappointed in our first experience eating at the Cutwater. The quality of food and the overall dining experience was one we don't wish to repeat. We arrived at 3:30pm on a Monday and asked for one of the open available tables next to the window over looking the water. We were told we should've made a reservation as those tables were reserved. We left one and a half hour later and the tables were not filled with any parties. The attitude from the host was very offputting. The food quality was mediocre. The food that was supposed to be hot was only lukewarm. Would not recommend dining here. You come here for the view right on the lake. I would say this is one of the best patios to dine on. We came here for brunch and it was delightful. Make a reservation to ensure you get a table on the water. We had Eggs Benedict's: smoked salmon was on point and the hollandaise sauce complemented it nicely. Hash browns were a bit soft would have liked them a bit more crispy. French toast with huckleberries was delicious and sweet. Get it with a side a bacon to balance the sweet. The bacon is crispy and savory. The burrito is the shining star to this place. Hearty and delicious. I don't usually like burritos but this one has all the right flavors. The assistant manager was incredibly rude. We walked in with our baby and small dog, asked a staff member where the restaurant was and they walked us to the host stand. The hostess then walked us to a table. Shortly after sitting down the assistant manager then told us dogs were not allowed and others tried to tell us this. This yelp page also says dog friendly. Dropped in for lunch on a Sunday. Beautiful view of the lake from inside due to the tall sliding glass doors that open to the patio. Huckleberry lemonade and salmon BLT on sourdough was delicious. Ambiance is excellent given it is right on the water with open air dining. The view is mostly blocked by the patio umbrellas. The service is very good and friendly. As soon as we sat down the waiter dropped an entire glass of water on my mother's head, leaving a bump on her head. We have been here several times before because we live in the area. We made dinner reservations and stood waiting at the check-in while the hostess was on the phone. She did not acknowledge our presence at all (this has happened before) and several minutes later someone else walked up and brought us to our table. The sun was quickly on half the table directly on one person's face. We asked to move tables (there were several open in the shade) and we were told by the assistant manager that we could not move because the other table was for later reservations. Note: when we made the reservation we were told the patio was first come first served. Two hours later the table was still open! Even after discussing this with the assistant manager he said he could try and get another umbrella. He walked away and did nothing. He never came back to our table. The food was good but they would not sub broccolini for mac and cheese or the gnocchi. We had to pay extra. There was no comp for making us sit in the sun while several other tables were still open. The server was great but unfortunately the management does not prioritize the patron experience. read more

Food is nothing to write home about to be honest. Service is decent. Food takes a while to come out. You do want to make reservations on advance especially on the weekend (only because food options are limited in McCall). We tried breakfast/brunch and the dinner menu. The burger is ok, fries are good, dip sandwich was just ok. The chicken pita sandwich comes with a side of cucumber salad instead of the fries that's listed at the top of the sandwich menu. The cucumber salad was not fresh and very soggy. They did switch it out to fries for me. The sandwich itself was just ok. Usually with a pita sandwich the food is placed inside the pocket so it's easier to eat. This was placed on top and was a bit hard to eat. We will probably explore other options to eat in McCall in the next few days. read more

I stopped by Cutwater for a solo dinner by the lake. You can't beat the view, and I sat at the bar for my meal, the bison bolognese and a glass of red wine. The pasta and sauce were delicious, and the wine was a nice finishing touch to wash it all down. The portion size was enough to take half home and heat it up the next day! The cherry on top was that the bartender was super friendly and attentive. Great date spot, or just for a relaxing dinner overlooking the lake. I would have to agree with most of the other reviews. I don't think I would really recommend eating here. The views are incredible, but the food is just whatever. Not bad, but not good either especially with a hefty price tag. We made reservations for Saturday at 5pm. We were seated within 5 minutes of our arrival at a window table which was great. The service was good - we started with a sweet heat margarita and shore fashioned. We ordered the salmon and the hanger steak. On the menu the hanger steak is described hanger steak with herb butter, arugula and French fries. It came with vegetables and mashed potatoes. I didn't ask because I was fine with whatever - but it was weird that it didn't match the menu description. The food was just so so - 2 cocktails and 2 entrees was $120 out the door including tip. This is our favorite dinner restaurant especially with out of town guests. We had dinner tonight and virtually everything was wrong. The service was poor and the food was worse. The chicken wings were hard as a rock and had no sauce. The wings were overly salty and aweful. The asparagus was hard and woody. The wait person could not speak adequate english. I did speak with a manager and he was very helpful, but it still was an awful dinner and we had to pay a premium to dine there. It will be tough to go back. read more

Only one star here. Cutwater underwhelms in this outing tonight. Ordered the Lodge Burger, medium, and was delivered a raw, bloody mess of a burger. I got 2 bites in, and just couldn't go further. Don't get me wrong, I typically like a rare burger, I would just prefer that it didn't try to take a bite out of me. I Probably would have left it alone, except when I Showed it to the waiter, he said he couldn't take it back because I had taken a bite. (Just How would I have found it to be uncooked if I hadn't taken a bite?!?) The Manager said all he could do is offer 30% off the check. I guess he didn't consider bringing me A cooked burger! Alex the waiter was prompt and nice. Apologized profusely for the issue, so at least a small bright light in an otherwise disappointing outing to the Cutwater at Shore Lodge. Do better! read more

Made a reservation on Sunday evening and waited 1 hour and 23 minutes for our appetizers (bread, salad and wings) - finished those and by 9 pm (2 hours into it) we were telling the waiter that we were leaving. She allegedly didn't realize we never received our food which still never came. Was it busy? Sure, but as the evening went on the tables were empty and people were still waiting a very extended amount of time. The only positive to the situation was the view of the lake. We enjoyed dinner on a Thursday night in April. This is Mud Season in McCall. This is not a busy time of year. We made reservations but they weren't needed. The menu was limited and the food was overpriced. What we ordered was good but I don't plan on returning. The view was a beautiful view of the lake. The restaurant is very clean. The two stars is for the ambiance because the view is beautiful. So when we got there we asked to sit outside, the host refused to sit us by the water because it was saved for big parties. We did have reservations and it was between lunch and dinner so they weren't busy. We saw them sit small parties there after and most of the tables were still empty when we were leaving. The next row of tables are practically on top of each other and every time you move they drag loudly on the concrete, and you can expect bugs to crawl in your hair. The food is absolutely horrible. Fries were stale and cold, the ribs which were "very popular" as the server said were tough and flavorless and drowned in BBQ sauce to hide the blandness. The Margarita pizza was even worse, they had tossed some cheese on it that wasn't even melted, and it tasted awful. There were Grey and black partials in the ice too. This place is overpriced and bad, save your money and your stomach. How sad because it could be so great if they ran their kitchen better. read more

Beautiful lakeside restaurant!! My family is stopping in McCall for the weekend and needed somewhere to eat, and we all know this was the perfect choice! The staff was increasingly gentle and friendly to every customer, the out and inside seating were both cleaned constantly and the food was PHENOMENAL!! Very nice surprise. Beautiful views from floor to ceiling windows of the lake and mountains. We had the most attentive and sweet waiter. I highly recommend the fried Brie with huckleberry jam. Yum. Ordered the prime rib French dip. Could almost split that guy with another person. The au jus and sandwich was delicious. Other people at our table ordered the bison burger. No complaints. Loved it. My husband and I came up for his birthday weekend, and I booked a table online - easy to do and followed up with a phone call to make sure we got a table with a lake view. Cutwater delivered hugely - got table right next to the lake, had a great appetizer of potato croquettes, wonderful mains of the ribeye and halibut (slightly overcooked to my liking but nice and flaky), and the strawberry roulade for dessert. However, when I booked, I mentioned we were going for my husband's birthday, and they also surprised him with a cupcake - so sweet and thoughtful. We definitely recommend it to everyone! read more
