They are very organized as far as getting the attendees to their seats. They are also very friendly. We found the place to be very clean and the chairs pretty comfortable. Our tickets were for the C section which was seated further and higher. I thought this was perfect for the performance we were seeing. I will have to keep this place in mind for future shows. I would recommend the theater. Street parking is available and not too far away is a parking garage. Be aware of where you park, watch for timed parking signs.

Fortunately, the musicians were all top notch professional musicians with peak level musicality other wise I would have walked out... MUSICIANS: Professional and their playing was very soothing. They even performed an encore at the end which was the Legend of Zelda... SERVICE: C+ I felt like I was entering TSA check in at the airport. Phones must be silent. I couldn't even have the screen on. Too strict for a small theatre... AMBIANCE: 7/10 you could hear fire trucks passing by in the background. Do they plan to leave the theater doors open throughout the entire performance? This is definitely very different from Carnegie Hall... I should have known better. Joe Hisaishi would not be performing at a little theatre like this one... I would steer clear!!!

The lobby has a bar that sells themed drinks and snacks. You can purchase drinks before the performance. They have a seating area with a smaller stage. Our performance had an intermission to also make purchases. However, the restroom line is pretty long and didn't allow me to visit the restroom and make a purchase during intermission. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. They had our programs and tickets ready. The show we saw was Hairspray. It was wonderful! I love the music, dancing, costumes and and staging. The sound is great - better than the Civic Theater downtown. It was a top rate show at a smaller venue and a lower price. You can't ask for more! Parking is available on the street for three hours. If your play is going to be longer, Carlsbad offers free parking by the train station just a short walk from the theater. We will definitely be returning.

Nice Theater, "Matt and Ben" Not So Much…read more The theater has been hugely renovated since I was last there years ago -- much improved! There's a spacious lobby with a bar, although they only had one person on the bar and it was slow going. At the box office (inside) they just asked for our name and didn't bother seeing the tix on my phone. Staff were friendly. The theater itself is small. They allow drinks in that you've purchased there. (No food, although I watched one woman open a bag of crackers). The usher sent us to the wrong row, causing confusion and the letters on the end of the rows weren't obvious. There are several bathrooms, including a couple of non-gender ones. Free parking can be found at the train station behind the theater. The play we saw, 'Matt and Ben' was not great. I give it 2/5. The cast wasn't what I was expecting and it wasn't that funny, they dropped f-bombs all the time and I was ready for it to end after about 15 minutes.

I have significant concerns about the judgment and oversight surrounding youth productions, particularly when minors are cast opposite adults as romantic interests. I have also heard troubling accounts from members of the local theater community regarding how some young performers have been treated with little to no respect. Most concerning to me was a recent production that drew significant criticism over what many felt were inappropriate boundaries involving an adult and a minor in the cast. My understanding is that the directors involved were subsequently removed from the production following its closing dates. I was troubled that the circumstances were able to progress as far as they did before action was taken. When a theater works with children, I believe the owners and leadership have an especially important responsibility to know what is happening in productions operating under their name and to establish clear safeguards and boundaries for minors. In my opinion, the oversight in this situation fell far short of what I would expect from an organization entrusted with young performers. I sincerely hope the concerns raised by parents and members of the theater community lead to meaningful changes. Youth theater can be an incredible experience, but the well-being and safety of the children involved has to come before any production.

When we switched due to moving, my daughter was at first upset because at age 11.5 she was about to start pointe at the other studio. What I really loved right away was how she was immediately evaluated to see if she was even ready for pointe. Ms. Shannon did a fantastic job explaining in great detail where my daughter had a few weaknesses in her ankles, and proper body alignment. She was given detailed notes on how to strengthen and correct things to get her ready to start pointe. As a mom new to dance all together, I would have never known this if I let the other studio just put her on pointe without evaluating to see if she is truly ready. My daughter really took a good understanding of this and followed the instructions to work hard to get herself strong enough. The process may have taken a little longer but we both felt so happy knowing she wouldn't be putting her body at risk by rushing into it. Now she's on her third pair of pointe shoes and progressing more and more every class. We are so happy here and love all of the staff. I'd highly recommend checking it out if you're comparing other studios. My daughter is very happy we switched after all. She's making new friends and loving the variety of classes too.
