The costumes are quite authentic made mostly by hand and designed by Linda and the community is incredible. They do a whole Hoike celebration every year and kids from ages 3 to 80 dance in different groups. I am so glad we got connected with this group. It is a group that is not competitive, The group needs to work together and build each other up; different for this day and age. At the same time the teachers challenge each individual to grow in spirit strength and skill. If you want to community for your children or yourself this would be the group to join.

I came with a friend to check out this BBQ event. I had never been up to Vista before, let alone…read morethe Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum. The weather was beautiful as a relatively mild breeze kept the temperature in the low-80s. I was so afraid that it was going to be well into the 90s with a scorching sun. We ended up parking in a satellite parking lot down the road which cost $5 instead of $10 in the main parking area. They used a tractor to haul a platform wagon with benches to shuttle us over to the event grounds and back. I loved the fact that the setup was dog friendly so we had a leashed pup with us. After getting our poker-like chips/tokens at the ticket tent, we wandered around the property and checked out the antique exhibits in the barns and warehouses. There were lots of neat, old fashioned vehicles and machines from the early 20th century on display. We then passed by the Tin Roof stage where various competitions were being held (e.g. Miss Q country style beauty contest, watermelon eating, best denim butt contest, etc). Back we went to the row of tents where about 10 vendors were selling their food for 1-4 chips each. To my surprise, the area was not at all crowded, and the lines were quite reasonable. I was under the impression there would be more booths than this, but apparently many teams were present only for the BBQ judging competition and not for selling their meats to the public. :( Of the different items we tried, a few spots stood out... 1) Bacon wrapped meatballs and bacon lollipops from Butler's Barbecue: These were each sold at 2 for 1 token. I wished more vendors had deals like this. The small bites were perfect snacks to get the appetite going for the larger servings. 2) Pulled pork and sausage from Jolley's Bad to the Bone Barbeque: The portion sizes were very generous for just one chip each. The pork was pulled thicker than what I was accustomed to, but the meat was moist and seasoned well. The sausage came as two links that were spiced nicely. 3) Bread pudding from a tent that hung a U of GA flag (no name posted): This was a nice sweet treat to contrast all the salted meat we were ingesting. The crust had a nice caramelization to it. Thank goodness I had heeded Jen G's advice and brought a stash of Ziploc sandwich bags. We had more tokens left than what we could eat on-site so the two of us began redeeming chips and placing the food in the bags to take home as leftovers for a future meal. Initially, we were worried that we would go through our allotment quickly because many items cost more than one chip each. Bringing our own bottles of water along with a picnic blanket to sit under the shade helped us stay cool and relaxed during the afternoon. The lengthy drive to Vista was worth the unique experience. It's always great to meet up with fellow Elite Yelpers at such events. Last but not least, the dog ended up very well fed from the BBQ, probably even more so than the both of us. :)

We enjoyed live music from a Rock and Roll band, socialized with good company, and cooled off with drinks that were fairly priced. The atmosphere is good, with cool separate spaces including a poker table, billiards room, outdoor patio, and dance floor. All staff was very friendly and welcoming. Parking can be tricky since the lot is very small and adjacent businesses highly discourage non-business parking. It's in O'side off the 101 and it's a locals staple to its members and sometimes guests. I have some friends that are members and have told me how they enjoyed their time there. I've checked their website previously and have considered joining myself but held off as life just went by. Parking can be tricky because their lot is small & neighboring businesses have their own lots so we found street parking on the other side of the block and walked on over. It's an old lodge and has lots of retro style designs and decor throughout. You get bang for your bucks for quality cocktails and drinks all made by volunteers that work for tips. To my surprise I knew even more people that were already there enjoying community time together. It's fun being with people who vibe as your tribe in commonalities. Knowing these friends frequent the same type of venues and activities that I do makes considering joining even more appealing. My friends all expressed how they have great cause fundraiser events and game nights there. Like trivia and such. Fun! We got to enjoy it on Rock n Roll night and the music was by Reagan "guitar" Williams & band. They definitely Rocked! People danced and socialized well here and everyone looked happy to be there. *I feel like the website could be refreshed and spoofed up a tad more. They get a dance floor going every time and have attracted a loyal following. Their song list is huge and can play tunes ranging from the Beatles to Journey to Justin Timberlake. I book them as a 7 piece band and ALL 7 of them sing! That's a rarity with cover bands nowadays. No gimmicky one trick pony in this band. Tom Boyd, the band leader, is great with communication. I also own a professional DJ biz and have had the pleasure of working with The Heroes at a wedding. I immediately could tell they've done hundreds of weddings before. They keep the night flowing and on schedule. They bring a lot of energy to the grand entrances. All their announcements sounded professional, lively and anything but monotonous. If you're looking for a high energy dance band to rock your wedding or party I highly recommend booking The Heroes. They are worth it!

From start to finish Tom Boyd (leader, drummer, all-around awesome human being) helped us ensure our wedding was the best experience for us and our guests. Before the wedding he met with us several times. He helped us with our timeline, song recommendations and anything else we needed. We waited until a couple of days before the wedding to choose our first dance song. Although they didn't know it, Tom and the band learned it in 1 day and played it flawlessly at our wedding. My wife was so happy! During the wedding THEY ROCKED IT! They "pied pipered" guests from the cocktail hour into the reception room and we were receiving complements about them before they even went on stage. Once they were on stage... WOAH. They played a "Horah" for the ages! Anytime they were playing people were up dancing. During and after the wedding people kept coming up to us and saying how amazing they were. Everyone wanted to know how we found them and the story behind why we picked them (the short version: Art does an amazing "Baby Got Back"). First time attending the Highland Games located at Brengle terrace park. Purchased tickets online…read more Cars are lined through the streets but there's two entrances. The main gate or at the McClellan center both are $10. The annual event is nicely situated throughout these park grounds. Paved walkways with one slope down to the field area. The Scottish accent will soon travel from your gut to your tongue and chule foind new experiences emerging tru des lands. On the far East end there's sheep dog herding. It was pretty incredible seeing these border collies move on the command of a whistle. Just like in Babe.. I began to long for a pig to do just the same. There's a nice kids playground and dedicated area to practice their own Highland Game skills. Pipe bands are a thing! Who knew. Competitions were in progress when we arrived. The first food area is just past the band tents with a few umbrella tables connecting to the tented beer garden featuring live bands like Bad Haggis. Decently priced food and beverages for a festival. The athletics area is on the lower field this is where the men and women will be competing throughout the day. This is also where the main stage and shaded seating area will be along with merch and food vendors. Opening and closing ceremonies will feature all the bagpipe bands marching through the lower field onto the main stage area. Overall 5 stars being that the crowd was a good bunch with kindred spirit. All there for a good time enjoying traditional Scottish competitions, music and food.

They are very organized as far as getting the attendees to their seats. They are also very friendly. We found the place to be very clean and the chairs pretty comfortable. Our tickets were for the C section which was seated further and higher. I thought this was perfect for the performance we were seeing. I will have to keep this place in mind for future shows. I would recommend the theater. Street parking is available and not too far away is a parking garage. Be aware of where you park, watch for timed parking signs.
