Young guy behind the butcher counter with a cartoon-like villain's mustache greets me. I ask him jokingly for a "twirl of the stache" and he stares me down. Literally stares me down like he wants to fight me. I am old enough to be his grandmother. If you're going to wear a cartoon-like villain's mustache then get used to people commenting on it. Lighten the F up and get a lesson in customer service. This is the second time that someone specifically behind the butcher's counter has been rude to me. Other reviews from YELP suggest that the owner is rude to customers and condones this behavior. You are losing customers because of it. read more

Came here shortly after opening day and it was packed! Definitely need to come back on another day to give it a more honest review. There were so many employees scattered throughout the store. We went to batch and got a coffee, which was awesome. Then we went up to the counter and ordered breakfast sandwich sandwiches. It was kind of chaos waiting on the line and then waiting for our food. We didn't realize where we had to go to pay was on the other side of the store so that was slightly confusing. There should be a station with napkins and condiments so that you can doctor up your sandwiches that you ordered to go. Overall, I love the concept here and definitely want to come back and purchase more things. This place will do very well. read more

Every time I've been at a party with food from Colonial Ranch Market on Bridge Ave in Point Pleasant Boro, myself and several others have gotten sick. Curious as to how that could happen, I started asking around and turns out the people that work there are happy to discuss the unsanitary and unsafe working conditions. GREAT FOOD/MEH SERVICE First time going here, the place was very nice. We got sandwiches to my ASTONISHMENT were the BIGGEST sandwiches I've ever seen from a deli, and for under $17. My mind was blown! Honestly, 1 sandwich can feed 4 people. The service at the deli could have been better, the young man making our sandwich seemed uninterested and a little forgetful. There was also an older woman wearing a hat that, when my friend was being asked if she was ready to order, rudely said "No, she's with him, she has to wait" I guess if you come with more than 1 person you all have to order through the same employee (we didn't know) but a different approach or even just explaining it would have been better than snapping, especially without ever acknowledging us prior. (She looked miserable so no surprise with her attitude) The total for 2 sandwiches, a bag of chips, 2 pickles, and 2 drinks was $42. Not a bad deal! I'll def be back! Unfortunately this deli has gone down hill over the past year. I ordered a honey mustard, chicken, bacon, and lettuce wrap. When I took it home it looked like a mustard bomb exploded in it. Not only was it regular mustard instead of honey mustard, the amount of mustard on this wrap was astounding. You couldn't even distinguish what was inside the wrap because it was doused in what looked like an entire bottle of mustard. I think a good rule of thumb is when making the wrap and/or sandwich if it looks inedible, the customer probably isn't going to enjoy it. Also, not to mention, there was mustard on the outside of the wrap like a burrito smothered in mole sauce. What is going on with this place. Also they microwave their bacon... do better. read more

Everyone said go to Lenny's for a great filet. Well I did and at 27$ a pound it should have been fantastic but was worse than supermarket pre packed. The loin itself should be one continuous slab of meat this filet was held together with string and didn't even see the string until I cooked it. Besides being held together with string it was as tough as you could ever get in any low budget cut of meat . I know most people have no problem with eating low end meat but when you pay 27$ a pound it should at least be tender and not held together. Someone needs to do some quality control as the rest of the market seems to be very nice. read more

Saw a recent post regarding the owner Brandon and had to chime in. A bunch of my friends worked here growing up, was a great place at the time, and I have been a patron all my life until this year. Owners were great to staff and community. Unfortunately owner passed away some time ago, and now his son Brandon is the main proprietor. My friends and one of my own kids worked here in the last few years. Many quit due to the disrespectful behavior of Brandon. He is a bully towards little girls, a true testament of a weak man. However it would not be right to disparage a local business on merely the actions of one, even if the owner. The butcher department's meat has gotten bad. I use the local Shop Rite and Whole foods meat departments now as its much fresher. Been a few months now since I have gotten meat from here, because of this, however can say that last 5 or so times during the summer when I did patron the establishment, the filet was gray and dry, chicken was grizzly, and ribs were just plain nasty. The prices since Covid have gone up everywhere, but Colonial really pushed the boundaries of price gouging. I totally abide by the philosophy that one gets what they pay for, and having said this, we have a problem here. Lastly and most importantly, the level of service is terrible. Brandon is essentially the soup nazi, without the humor or personality to accompany the character and make it amusing. I no longer shop here, hopefully this tid bit of information helps others make an informed decision. read more

Two items here to paint the picture of why such a low rating. First- The quality of meat has deteriorated significantly in the past few years. I say this having been a loyal local customer for over 30 years Second- This to me is the absolute most important. I was in line the other day and the owner Brandon was so rude and disrespectful to this older woman at the butcher counter. I was appalled and actually about to say something directly to him, as this guy does know me, however the older woman was about to break down in tears and did not want to draw attention to the situation and have her more embarrassed. I did get my butcher goods weekly here for years. The deli area is still awesome, the staff makes great sandwiches and are great people. I would get catering from here at least 4-5 times a year also. Now, I don't believe I will ever shop here unless an emergency again. Started getting my meat from the Shop Rite in Wall, and actually has been an improvement in quality, but even if it was not, will never give Brandon Arms my business again. We love Colonial! Best subs and sandwiches in the area. Place is always packed but lines move quickly because the workers hustle. Amazing selection of prepared foods that are always delicious. Their chicken salad is beyond amazing, as is their store made vodka sauce and marinara. We have had catering from them a few times...both sandwiches and hot foods. Everything was outstanding. The hot trays were packed with food. You can't go wrong with any choice, but I highly recommend the grilled steak and eggplant rollatini. Just had the worst experience at colonial market just now. Waiting for sandwiches. My lis t was on my phone. I did not pull up the list fast enough for BILLY. He became extremely rude and told me he can't wait a d would take the next person. Fare enough. I turn around to see no one else inside. He then started with he can't wait for summer to be over and was kept laughing and saying thing as only the staff could hear. We got take away from Lenny's Colonial Ranch Market for a small event. The employees were friendly. The sub sandwiches were so wonderful. Tons of meat and cheese piled high with soft, tasty bread , along with lettuce, onions, and tomato. Lots of combinations to choose from. The side salads were scrumptious. The coleslaw, potato salad, and pasta salad were all tasty. They had potato chips to purchase too. So many choices to make your event simple and impressive. Everything was enjoyed. It's great that Lenny's hires kids, however, I'd like to pay & get my salad & not a cup full of oil. Every time I have to tell them to chill out on the oil. I was originally going t give 4 stars but didn't write my review, based on my first trip, But last month when I had to go pick up sustenance for the West Point Army Tail Gate party, well surrrre, I had to up it to 5 starts, so here we go !! First visit is because I had a coupon and a gift card for a meat package- thinking meat package? HUH! ok, so I went in, looked over the packages and went with the $269. package, I placed my order and picked it up the next day. Here are suggestions: Each item was weighed and packaged in freezer butcher paper, taped and labeled for freezing. Weights were perfect for meal prep and weekly planning. It is a lot of meat and you don' realize it until you have to freeze it, I happen to have a standing deep freeze in the garage that was empty except for veg's and hot pockets, ice crème and French fries, so this was perfect for us. It does go fast, at least for us since we do eat at home a lot. Not all plans are the same but they offer like items, I didn't need to change anything, but if you do for personal reasons, best to ask. It also gets busy on weekends and these pkgs are heavy, so just ask for them to help you load after you checkout. I want to mention that usually at tail gate or BBQ's even for dinner's I prefer London broil or skirt steak, but this last Army game they were out. The butcher suggested Butter Steaks, I had no idea about this type, but he swore by it. So I bought 6 steaks, they individually wrapped them, I paid and took them home for the game. I put a light mojo marinade on them and in the cooler they went. When it came time to break these babies out to grill on charcoal, they were delicious, I mean WOW! everybody loved them and they were so tender and juicy, they are now added to my shopping list. I also wanted to say, I was not a huge fan of ground chicken but having the ground chicken from here was a game changer for me. I got 4 packages in my order and I used them for chicken & white bean chili, hoisin chicken lettuce wraps, chicken teriyaki meatballs and chicken and green chili tamale pie. Fantastic taste and way more versatile than I previously thought. I really enjoy shopping here the staff has always been polite and helpful with my shopping list needs and the prices and meat packages are reasonable. Try a small package first before venturing to larger ones, but I am already planning my January package. read more

Disappointed with my catering order. They forgot all of the condiments for my two platters of subs (oil, vin, mayo), and the bbq and honey mustard for my full tray of chicken tenders. I even asked if they were in the bags when I picked up, and was told yes. Without the condiments, subs and tenders are just not the same!!! The penne vodka was also just not good. It was total chaos in there when I went to pickup. One kid was working catering for Labor Day weekend. Forget about trying to call them, took me all day and about 15 calls to get someone to answer the phone. I understand it was a busy weekend, but forgetting all of the condiments (and telling me otherwise) for my catering order was the last straw for me. The food does not make up for the lack of service and attention to detail. I won't be giving them my business in the future.
