This bowl was absolutely delicious. For around $14, I was honestly impressed with how much food they packed into a small bowl. The portion size was generous, loaded with chicken and fresh toppings, and every bite was flavorful and satisfying. The only issue I had was that I requested brown rice, and the label reflected that request, but the bowl came with white rice instead. I've driven past this place a countless number of times, having never set foot in the gigantic shopping plaza it's attached to. Eventually my curiousity got the best of me, and I stopped in for a quick lunch at Mike's. I'm officially hooked now. Nestled between downtown Lakewood and the Blueclaws Stadium is Mike's - a place that specializes in fried chicken and chicken sandwiches, and boy do they do it right. The "standard" chicken fingers here are coated in corn flakes, and adhered to the chicken with what I believe is honey. The result is a moist and tender piece of chicken with a hint of sweetness, and a really nice crunchy exterior, without being even remotely greasy. They also have a ton of dipping sauce options to pick from, with my personal fav's being the beer sauce and 'golden', although I don't think there's a bad choice! The only downside is that I feel like you take your life into your hands driving into this plaza. It's total chaos - people will park in the middle of travel lanes, blocking traffic. Getting in and out of the plaza can be a nightmare, and the parking lot isn't laid out very well with lots of blind corners. I don't exactly see the hype that the reviews tell me. We stopped here on way home from New York. It was well organized and clean. They have self ordering kiosks , phone ordering and mobile order capability. The two gentleman at the desk were nice enough. We had a sampling of popcorn chicken, corn flake chicken , corn dog , onion rings , we also had both waffle and plain fries . They are served in foil pans with plastic lids. This is not a good fit for fried food that you want to keep crunchy. It immediate creates condensation and makes the food wet and soggy. The popcorn chicken was dark meat as advertised but dry and like rubber. Wasn't too impressed with the quality. I do agree the sauce game was 100% and is self serve. The corn flake chicken had better flavor but still dry. The onion rings were the star of the lunch. Everything else seemed not freshly fried. Order was ready fairly quick which gave me the impression it was semi cooked and finished off or waiting under heat lamps. Bonus points for this restaurant which is kosher which is a big plus for the Lakewood community. All in all 42.00 for sub par food and a not great experience. Fantastic! My new CEO put me on to this place. It's an interesting concept - they're all tenders (boneless), and the original (Mike's Chicken Crunchers Original) are battered AND breaded chicken tenders rolled in crunchy.....CORN FLAKES! The chicken here really is quite delicious! They have several different varieties (i.e. Barbecue, Marsala, Buffalo), but I've only had the original (several times). I've tried a few of their dipping sauces and they have all been good (Golden Goodness, Beer Sauce, and my absolute favorite: Creamy Ranch & Chive). The owner (Mike) is also a really nice guy! I chatted with him for a few minutes at the order/pickup window (both the same), and he was very pleasant and really into the concept. Nice work Mike! read more

The chicken here is insanely delicious. All the food here is trash always. My favorite chicken is the mikes original crunchers and all there poppers and my favorite sauces are the buffalo sauce and golden goodness. Sandwiches are pretty sick also. I was hesitant to try this place because the last two times I thought of it I drove there and they were closed. I was driving in the area and decided to give them one more shot. I'm so glad I did. I was lucky enough to be at a Jewish Federation event in Atlantic City and I took one piece of chicken and sat down and then I said to the guy with me, this is the best chicken I've ever had in my life! He said it must be from Mike's and then he read the sign and it was he told me it was in Lakewood I live in Bergen County and I don't drive more than 10 minutes out of my area. I called them to see if they shipped but not to my area. You guys must come to Bergen County we are the most affluential County and probably the country and we are gold mine with all of our malls. Think about it, I will be your main customer for sure! I'll have to get somebody to drive me down there one day, but then how long could I keep it for. Can't you freeze it and ship it please? I wish I could give this place 6 stars. Location is an unassuming hole-in-the-wall, but don't let that fool you: the food is top notch. Delicious crispy chicken tenders that keep me up at night. (protip - the pretzel chicken will knock you off your feet) The owner is a super down to earth guy who we immediately fell in love with like a member of the family, and his approach and love of food proves that there are kosher options that rely on quality instead of quantity. Mike's chicken is very good; I'm partial to the bourbon hickory variant, which is slightly sweet with an almost addictive smokiness. The only reason I'm knocking down a star is because it's overly expensive.
