Terrible food. Meat was dry and hard. Animal veins in many of the pieces of meat that was disgusting. Tahini has no flavor. Lady taking the order could not answer simple questions. Atmosphere is nice and clean. read more

So impressed with the Jerusalem sandwich but the place Is small and on a super hot day there is only 2 seats inside and they keep the door open so there is basically no AC . They have 4 tables outside that you can sit and eat . Tons of vegetarian choices . read more

Pita hit is a wonderful Mediterranean style store. The lamb shawarma is out of this world!!!! I put in chummus pickles fried onions and schug it was really delicious. These guys are terrific. It is literally the BEST falafel that I have ever had. Obviously it's kosher and you can certainly tell. Everything is extremely clean, well prepared and fresh. The guy who helped me out with seems as the owner released he certainly takes "ownership" of the place in spirit was absolutely fantastic. Friendly, helpful and charismatic. I'm pretty adventurous when it comes to ethnic food but I have to call it like I see it. I've had Shawarma before and that's why I went here. First, there is no menu to describe the meals -- just a blackboard that has vague descriptions like "wrap" and "platter". I ask for the platter and ask the guy behind the counter what comes with it. He says "whatever you want". Ok, so I try to draw it out of him what the stuff in the buckets is. Everytime I ask, he just starts scooping it out. Explains everything in one word grunts -- "SPICY". This goes on but I finally get what I think is lamb shawarma (not wrapped but scooped into a to-go container with some sides.) A different guy comes out to the register and asks what I ordered. I say lamb shawarma and he tells me that it is regular shawarma because lamb shawarma is only served on Tuesdays and Thursdays (and it is Wednesday but still on the blackboard). I ask if it come with pita (the name does have "pita" in it) and he says "oh, you want pita, huh" and gives it to me. I sit at the table to eat and the guy at the register says "why didn't you tell me you were eating here. I would have put it on a plate real nice". I just take the plate and do it myself. After all this, the shawarma was dry (chicken or beef, I am not sure). The sides were ok. I got the feeling this is a place that just caters to neighborhood patrons. Terrible, to be succinct. Ordered the lamb shwarma sandwich. It was a a gooey mess, immediately falling apart after taking a bite. They should go to NY to see how to wrap a proper Pita sandwich. I can put up with poor construction, however, if the ingredients are good. But the lamb had that odoriferous strong mutton smell, and the taste was worse. It still nauseates me to think back on it GF had the falafel sandwich. The falafel was burnt on the outside and undercooked inside. I'll admit there aren't too many places to get good shwarma, or falafel for that matter, so that may obviously lower expectations, but there's no way I can see ever going back here. read more

Wow, the chicken sandwich was made to perfection. It was a large portion though and two people can share it if they're not super hungry.

We are so glad to find a top-notch and authentic shawarma and falafel place. It's a casual dining place where one orders from the counter then sit. It's in a rather congested part of Route 9 in Lakewood but it is worth the sacrifice The meat (choice of beef, lamb, chicken and more) is perfectly seasoned and cooked and the serving is generous. The sides and pitas/bread choices are plentiful and all very tasty and well-prepared. They let you custom your pitas and platters with you choice of sides. The prices are reasonable too. read more

Before heading to my dentist which is across the street I decided to try this place. I tried the burger which was massive and super delicious. I was practically filled up the entire day from that lunch meal. The establishment is clean, nice and cozy. Many people seem to enjoy coming here for food. The shawarma and falafel is excellent. 1st time dining in the establishment it was a grand experience. So you walk in you better grap a table right way then go place your order. How do you order well you tell one of the 3 workers what you want And they make it to order. The platter's And the salad I fell it is they way to go and get a laffa bread side. Wow so much food you will have left overs no doubt. So when you pay after you eat they remember what you had like 30 mins latter And that is incredible cause they did it with a full restaurant and thru a 1/2 turn of tables and we added on items through out the meal. This has the be one of the best shawarmas I've had in NJ and, having been raised in the Middle East, I know shawarmas. This however was my first Israeli shawarma and wow! The number of toppings is astounding from pickled cabbage, fried eggplant, caramelized onions, fried whole jalapeños in addition to the usual humus, tomatoes, lettuce, etc. The sandwich itself is HUGE! Be prepared to take half your sandwich home. Also, make sure you get it made with a lafa bread instead of the pita. I will be coming back even though it is a bit of drive. read more

Wow!!!! This was one of my favorite quick meals maybe ever. I had the shnitzel in a laffa with all of the toppings. It was so incredible. The yeminite soup was also out of this world. I will definitely be back next time I'm in Lakewood. read more

Never been to this place before! I got the falafel platter and my goodness I watched him fry it on the spot and you could taste how fresh they were! So delicious! I also got the olives, tahini, hummus, and onions on the side and it was all very good and tasted authentic. My dad who came with me got the shawarma platter with similar sides and thought it was delicious and reasonably priced. We will definitely be coming back. read more
