This is a cute addition to Beacon's ambiance. The set up is not exactly ideal though. The clip boards are at the register and the place always has an abundance of people crowding the counter waiting very impatiently for their donuts. You basically must crawl and push through them to even start the process. I feel the clip boards should be placed closer to the entrance. There is also minimal seating areas. This is ideal right now while it's new and fresh and a go to place. But, once that dies down they will likely loose costumers due to lack of accommodations. The donuts themselves are smaller than a typical donut and much more dense. They actually remind me of a pound cake that has been deep fried. They are in no way bad tasting but they are not exactly what I think of when I purchase donuts and I do this often enough. It is interesting to be able to pick your own toppings for the donuts. They also have the donut of the day where multiple toppings are used. Just remember you can only pick one from every section for yourselves. For example we tried to make a s'mores donut by picking glazed with marshmallows and Graham cracker crumble with a chocolate drizzle. We were told we could have one or the other in regards to the marshmallows and Graham crackers. This is felt was odd as their own donuts of the day have more than one topping. The price is a bit high compared to other donut places. Although, for the most part the ones I go to are out of state and everything is always cheaper outside of new york. If you're looking for an interesting opportunity for your children to take part in the process of creation it's an awesome idea. If you have some where else to be do not go here. As it took 30 minutes just for me to be able to place my order and then 58 minutes for the donuts to be completed after that. read more

The employees were friendly, the ambiance was cozy, and the donuts were delicious! The prices are very reasonable. We bought 4 donuts and enjoyed all of them. They are all the same cake donut, but you get to choose the glaze, topping, and drizzle. My favorite was the maple glazed with chocolate chips and chocolate drizzle. The chocolate glazed donut was good, but very rich. The plain glaze with raspberry glaze was amazing. The donuts are on the smaller size, but full of flavor. Cashier repeatedly told people to move in closer to other customers to allow more people in, which disregarded the 6-foot distancing stickers that were placed on the floor. What a great little find in Beacon. They're staffed (probably owned by) this super kind group of people who great you and explain the build your own donut process. Then they pull your donuts right out of the fryer and make them in front of you. A hot donut with your favorite toppings is about as good as anything you'd ever want. And there price is reasonable! Glazed Over Donuts is a unique "create your own" donut shop in Beacon, NY. My boyfriend and I came here yesterday (07/09/17) during a day trip to Beacon. We were walking around the Main Street when we spotted this shop. The place seems very trendy and there were quite a number of customers when we came inside. They had free samples of the plain donuts to try before you can create your own unique donuts. To create your donut, there are clipboards with a paper to select your options. You choose one glaze, one topping, and one drizzle. For one donut, it's $1.74 and a twin pack is $3.21 from what I remember. The donuts look amazing based on your selected options. It's definitely picture worthy to come here. The donut itself is not bad, but it tasted a bit doughy. It doesn't taste like other donuts where it's fully baked. That was the only minute problem but other than that, the donuts tasted delicious. I would love to come back and try different flavors. read more

Once in, grab a clipboard from the counter, then head straight to the order line. Fill out the form while waiting, then voila - once you get to the front of the line, pay the lovely lady or gent behind the register. Head right immediately to watch them make the donuts until yours are done and your name is called. Prices are very reasonable, so even if you are ordering just for yourself, order more than one so you can sample a few different combos. I wish we had gotten dozen instead of just a pair. Glazed Over makes a good donut. Not a great one, but certainly a good enough one. And it's fun to be able to custom order it and then stand with your face pressed up against the donut-kitchen glass and watch the donut masters wrangle up the tasty torus that you'll be biting into in just a few moments. Now, for my donut palate, by the time you've worked your way through the order sheet and checked the boxes for all the categories (glaze, toppings, drizzle or whatever it is that they call that last step), the whole thing has gone a bit too far. Sort of like a pizza with too much stuff on it. Next time, I'm going to consider going with glaze and just a topping or glaze and just a drizzle or maybe even just glaze. But not all three. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Now a word about price. Most of the high end donut vendors that I have visited charge something in the area of $3.50/donut. Glazed Over is half that, making it a tremendous value in this arena. So, yeah. It was our first time and the guy at the counter was really helpful in explaining how the made to order sheets worked. We got to pick our own glazes, toppings, and drizzles. Oh who says no to a build your own donut place. For those familiar with duck donuts in North Carolina same concept but infinitely more portion controlled. On our trip to the Dia: Beacon last week we decided to tour the city a little and to our surprise this is seriously one of my favourite cities. While walking the main street we chanced across Glazed Over Donuts and what do you know? They allow you to create your own donut flavour/toppings. You know I was all over that. They have a pretty cool system where they give you a sheet and you circle the flavours and toppings etc so no mistakes happen. I ordered a peanut butter one and plain glaze with maple syrup. Besides being $1.25 a piece, these donuts were some of the best donuts I've ever had. I'm almost mortified that I spend $3 or more in Brooklyn for crappy bites. The donuts were fresh, soft, very flavourful and maybe even a little addictive. Staff is friendly, courteous and super helpful with decision making.
