So I finally decided to see what all the fuss was about with Glazy Squares, so I arrived at what I thought was early, 7:15am on a Friday expecting to grab a quick donut and head off to work. I was wrong. I walked inside and noticed an almost empty display case, I would have thought that I showed up before closing time based on the limited selection. What type of a donut shop runs out before 8am! They did however have some of their namesake, which is what I was actually there for. I waited for nearly 5-10 minutes while I watched two employees behind the counter, one was taking orders from the drive thru and the other was making donuts, I think. I really couldn't tell since he was behind a wall. I waited patiently and almost considered walking out, while I was waiting the line stared to grow to nearly 8 people waiting inside the store. The employee taking drive thru orders finally stopped and apologized for the wait, only after taking nearly 5 drive thru orders all of which arrived AFTER me. Meanwhile I kept patiently waiting in the store. I ordered a Glazy Square and a Chocolate Long John, and a soda to go. Prices were reasonable, I think my order was about $3.50, however I wasn't overly impressed with the donuts. I actually prefer Kruta's, and believe it or not Casey's makes a good French Crueler but it is nice to have an option on the north side of town. Personally I wouldn't go out of my way to stop here again, but if I could offer them one piece of advice that would be to ditch the drive thru, your customers should never have to wonder whose business is more important and because of this they almost lost a customer this morning. read more

Holy crap the walk from my car to the building eases the guilt of eating the donut. The case was full: twisted glazed and cinnamon, cinnamon rolls, square glazed donuts, square donuts with chocolate icing, square donuts with white icing and cake donuts: Todays special was the lemon donut. The cake donuts was not what I was looking for today, but I will keep them in mind for the future. We got the traditional glazed (square) donuts. Just stopped in for the first time after passing this places hundreds of times. I came in specifically to try the biscuits and gravy, and I was not disappointed. As you can see in the picture they give you a generous amount of gravy. The gravy is creamy, and has liberal amount of sausage in it as well. The only issue I had was the bisquits, even though they were quite good, mine this morning were a tad overcooked. Then the doughnut with the proprietary "Angel Cream" which they make in house was amazing. And like the gravy they do not skimp on the filling. Collinsville is home to my old stomping grounds, and while I still lived there I noticed this small shack of a donut bakery. I didn't usually frequent local businesses there by that point (my husband and I had developed more "urban" tastes and often found ourselves traveling to eateries across The River). But there was something about the place that struck me and I don't know what that something is, but one rainy day I found myself stopping in on a whim. And let me just say: Kruta's may have cornered the market in terms of A LOT of bakery items in C-ville, but they no longer hold the crown for donuts. And that's real talk. That "on a whim" visit to Glazy Squares turned out to be some serious divine intervention. I was sold on the cherry glazed cake donuts, which honestly HAVE to be my absolute favorite variety of cake donut in general. I don't even know who makes those anymore, but who really cares? Glazy Squares makes them, so I don't need to go anywhere else. Actually, their cake donuts across the board, and there is a wide variety! And you can get a dozen on the cheap. A mixed dozen will run you about $8.99, which is only $1-$2 more than what you'll pay at certain chains. Would I cross The River back into Collinsville just for these donuts? Maybe not JUST for the donuts, but my folks still live there so that's always a great excuse to grab a fresh dozen. read more

This place has recently moved, and I like the new location (right around the corner of Beltline from the old location). Their service, friendliness, and quality remains top notch. Biscuits and Gravy made from scratch, the kolaches a perfect comfort food, and of course, the wide variety of donut flavors is why I give five stars. Will continue to go for the great food, will continue to recommend for the service-oriented and friendly staff. Prices are decent; I've definitely paid more for less quality elsewhere. There's extra parking in the back, and their coffee shop ( sitting area) is a great place to relax. I haven't had a bad experience yet, whether going through the drive through, going inside, morning or afternoon. read more

I hesitate to give even one star. I would give 0 if I could. I had a blueberry donut and it was dry and I couldn't even taste the blueberry. Pretty sure it was two days old. I also had their biscuits and gravy. They claim that it's "fresh" but I definitely don't believe that. The biscuits were stone cold and hard as rocks and the gravy tasted like salty vomit. So far I have been here 3 times and was not disappointed with either freshness or quality. This place just has to be be giving franchise corporate types heat burn. A local business that can take something as simple as donuts and coffee and then do it better than global corporations. A local business operated by the owners who obviously are trying their best puts the mega-donut corporations all to shame. Besides fresh and tasty, you can't beat square donuts for 74¢, a good cup of 99¢ coffee, and classic biscuits and gravy $2.25. read more

When Glazy Squares was new, we got a dozen doughnuts every Sunday morning. Because they were out every time I called to order and then pick up, I would call very early and reserve my selection. They were always very nice and they doughnuts were awesome ! Huge, sweet and tasty! I got very sick and was not able to eat any kind of "junk food" for a very long time. I lost 80 pounds, but I missed my favorites. My illness lasted about a year and a half and I am able to eat "regular" (to me!) food with discipline now. We drove in recently and were ....were....well disappointed is not a strong enough word! The Squares and the other doughnuts were terrible, the price was twice as much as previous, and they were all half the size. We are not going back for sure! Stopped by around 10:30 and the glaze donuts were stale. My kids liked the glaze with white icing.

The donuts are okay but I think they could be better if they were enclosed rather than sitting out. This may allow them to remain fresh longer. Iced donuts were fine but the regular glazed have been on the dry side both times. Still wanting to try the biscuits and gravy. read more

Above average donuts and lots of variety. I have never tasted a cake donut that I wanted to take more than one bite of until I tried theirs. They are so moist and flavorful!
