I try to be very disciplined in leaving 1-star reviews, but this business deserves it. I came in with a scratch that started at my driver-side door and ended on my passenger door. I was quoted and given an estimate by an employee. I called back to schedule a drop-off and a woman who called herself the owner was so difficult to speak with. Not only did she over-talk me, but she bad-mouthed her employees. She followed by saying her employee shouldn't have given me an estimate. I said, well why is the employee working there then? The owner replied, "Well she's new." To which I responded, "Well why was she left alone then?" I continued, "I have an estimate in the name of the company and I'd like to drop my car off and for the estimate to be honored." After going back and forth for 18 MINUTES, she finally agreed to "allow" me to drop my car off so that SHE could take a look. I got to the business, and the owner was even ruder in person. Then she said, well this quote is no good. Let's walk outside so I can give you a real estimate. Then she said, what [former employee] quoted you doesn't cover repair. So the scratch will still be there. After more back and forth arguing bc she wanted to double the price on me even though I was holding the work order in my hand showing her, I just left. My time and well-being are too important. I saw other negative comments about storage fees being 3x the industry standard - it's true ($110/day). I saw comments about the owner being unpleasant - it's beyond true. Avoid this place. It's not worth the price or the headache.

They took the door apart, welded a plate inside to reinforce the area and repainted so it all looked like new. This was a non insurance repair that I paid for myself. But in August the crack reopened. I contacted Jeff and, without any hassle, he arranged to redo the repair at no charge. They did it in one day and it again looks like new. I was searching around for a reputable body shop as everyone knows, it's better to have one and not need it, than to need it and not have one. I called around for a few places but the caveats were, timing and quality, not to mention price. Usually you can only get two of the latter with the other being sacrificed. I found First Performance through a Google Search and I'll admit, at first I wasn't sure since I haven't heard of this place and I've been around the automotive world for well over a decade. However, I wanted to give them a call. First time I called, Ms. Slim picked up and she was extremely friendly and informative, asked me to drop the car off on an upcoming Friday just to get what I wanted done examined. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it that day so the following Monday I called again and someone else picked up the phone and told me to stop by after 9:00 AM. Let me preface and tell you this was the week of Thanksgiving, so imagine the backlog on this. I showed up promptly at 9:15 AM, walked in and was greeted by two gentlemen, I wasn't sure of the other guy's name but the one who I spoke with his name is Jerry. Jerry in facts runs the place along with Ms. Slim and he came outside and listened to what I was asking for and his professionalism, engaging personality and knowledge really put me at ease knowing that my vehicle would be in good hands. Not to mention, this car was fairly new to me, and it wasn't meant to be out on the roads in colder weather just due to performance summer tires. Regardless, he was able to squeeze me in within an hour or so, and I was patiently waiting at that point. The following day, I received a call from Jerry directly indicating my car was finished. I know he mentioned it would be "likely" done prior to Thanksgiving, however I was very understanding with the holidays that anything could come up, and I didn't expect a business to drop all their work just to work on my car. I doubt they did, but know Jerry and his team did help me out with this. I showed up later that evening, saw Ms. Slim, Jerry and their team and was presented my car. Literally perfect, I couldn't have asked for a better turnaround, overall experience and price to match it all. The paint, which is very difficult to match (tri coat metallic pearl), was done flawlessly. The end results, speak for themselves. Six years after Gerber in Glendale Heights repaired collision damage on my wife's Ford Escape, I…read morenoticed a handful of spots where the paint was flaking off the car's plastic front bumper. Since the original paperwork stated a lifetime warranty on Gerber's work, I took it back and the location manager, without hesitation, said they would prep and repaint the bumper at our convenience. The bumper looks great. The work was done on time and without charge plus they thoroughly cleaned the exterior and interior of her car. Hopefully, we won't need bodywork in the future but we wouldn't hesitate to use them again.
