BEWARE...this body shop takes shortcuts and does negligent work. Took my 2025 vehicle to them after a collision, kept my truck for 10 weeks (procurement of parts, supposedly), returned it with MORE issues than when I dropped it off. Have to pay out of pocket to a dealership to have repairs made properly. I would not trust this body shop with a Matchbox car. Door was replaced BUT the seal not properly installed, you can hear wind when driving over 15 mph. Windshield came back with 3 chips and the side mirror on the opposite side of the truck was scratched. There is residue on the leather arm rest adjacent to the door. To top it off, the customer service is horrible, a man and a woman that work the phones are very unpleasant. Communication is severely lacking and what I thought started off as a good transaction ended up horribly as soon as we held them accountable for their dishonesty. The only sign of integrity, which was appreciated, was when the owner offered to cover our rental to the tune of $2200, but that does not negate the poor craftsmanship on a $70K vehicle. read more

Heads up -- be very wary of estimates from here. For a minor ding in a car door -- $365! $70 for one hour labor, $20 for "parts"-- and let's see -- that leaves $275 for what's labeled as "miscellaneous". Huh? If it's not labor and it's not parts, then what is it? The mechanic couldn't even explain it. read more

I've now had two more excellent experiences with this shop. One, my car was really crushed after someone ran into me and they were great about quickly giving an estimate to State Farm so I could get a check quickly for the totalled car. Second, my husband just had his car repaired by them, and it came back looking new, after someone ran into the back of his car. It is beautifully repaired, and looks newly washed and waxed. It took a while to get that repair in as it was still drivable, but the wait was worth it. read more

My driver window sill was damaged when it hit the side of my garage door. Dan and his team at Auto Body Unlimited really took care of my car repair. They took my car under their watchful eyes and with expert hands were able to massage, repair, straighten the sill and paint it so that no evidence of the bent metal could be seen. Not only that but they took extra care to secure and clean my car and protect it from the elements. I will always be forever grateful to Dan and Auto Body Unlimited for their care and concern. My family and I have been bringing our cars here for the better part of the last decade. It's a family owned and operated body shop that has always delivered high quality work with a smile. See customer service is something that you usually miss with going with larger businesses but Amy, her dad, and the staff there have been absolutely hospitable, caring, and all together exemplary of a quintessential body shop. I've referred all my family and friends' business here because I believe in the business and what it stands for. But recently they hired this guy Dan and that's when everything started to go wrong. Please avoid this guy and ask to get an estimate and service from anyone else. You'll be glad that you did. He is an absolute slimy greaseball. He wrote up an estimate for my girlfriend which was over a thousand dollars more than every other estimate she got. He was trying to swindle her and her insurance company plain and simple. Don't believe this creep. Once more, Dan was absolutely rude and altogether hostile towards me on my recent encounter while trying to get my own car repaired. He was verbally abusive and condescending. It came to the point that I had to ask for Amy to take over just because it wasn't civil anymore. Amy, on the other hand, handled my same case as the sweetheart that she is. I wish Dan had never joined the business. I had always received such exemplary service before he came onboard. I cannot describe how phenomenal of a job they do at Autobody Unlimited. I had a very unfortunate compromise done to my car, and it was found in very bad shape. Prior to the loss, it was in amazing shape. I had a lot of stress dealing with insurance, lobbying to get things handled, and I received a recommendation from Infiniti of Clarendon Hills, who knows my car very well to go to ABU to get the work done in a very professional way. I am very glad I did. I am a businesswomen, so I know it takes more then just good services and products to make a customer experience exponentially greater. It takes Professional Skill and Personal Passion for Customers. I can tell you when I called Amy she said I know how upsetting a theft loss can be, it is our job to be sure that you are taken care of and she knew what a violation it was. Amy was constantly getting my emails as I negotiated with insurance claims and back to the body shop. She makes a great team with Daniel. I cannot say enough about how many long / long hours Daniel spent lobbying for me, working on the car, calling, emailing, and communicating with me at all stages and still is on the finishing touches. They made a very painful car compromise, much more tolerable. I have seen precision body & paint work on high end cars before, but this one literally makes heads turn with the body and paint job--like showroom new. By far the best customer service I have ever experienced with a body shop / mechanic. Everyone in this place was extremely pleasant, hand shakes and introductions. This type of service is something that shines in my eyes. Brought my car in with minor bumper damage, got my estimate told me it would be 2-3 days. Brought my car in and received a call back next day in the am stating that my car was ready. Nice early finish. My car was sparkling (in February after the blizzard). All work was top knotch. Upon getting in my car the next day I noticed that they even took the time to touch up some paint chips in my hood. I would definitely recommend Auto Body Unlimited. I needed a few parts for my Harley Davidson painted and so I took them in. Mark was very helpful and explained the process. Tim called me back that afternoon with a very reasonable estimate and so I decided to go ahead. Amy called me a day ahead of when I expected the parts and said they were done and that I could come and get them. They look great, and I will go back again and again for any other body work I need. I visited Auto Body Unlimited on 3/10 on a strong recommendation by another auto repair shop. Previously, I had gone to the Infiniti dealer to repair a torn license plate from the lower hood of my car that left it damaged. Infiniti tried to repair it, but they ended up doing a mediocre job. It was a difficult repair and many places told me to replace the entire lower hood. Finally, I talked to Daniel and he encouraged me to come in and let him have a look. Daniel was extremely knowledgeable and very professional. He knew instantly how to repair the car without replacing the lower hood. Plus, he buffed out a scratch near the license plate. I left the auto body shop thrilled with the work and absolutely grateful to Daniel for his honesty and his professionalism. Plus, they undercharged me for the work! All I really need to say is: TOP NOTCH!! First of all, they did a stellar job repairing my '08 Infinity G37 Coupe after a deer-hit last month. The damage was significant, but after a week at this shop, it looks as good (if not better) than it did when I drove it off the showroom floor. This is a family owned, established body repair shop and the customer service is outstanding. We've been unfortunate enough to need their services 4 times in the last 10 or so years. Each time, we have been satisfied and beyond. They are honest, communicate every step of the process with you and are helpful with insurance needs, if necessary/applicable. They will give you all your options and not pressure you into something unnecessary. For example, someone side swiped my driver's side mirror off my car when it was parked. It wasn't all the way attached, but the technician offered to replace it all, or glue it if I didn't mind a small seam. The difference was about $400. I opted to repair instead of replace and you can't even notice the seam and the mirror is working fine. This is one example, but it illustrates the kind of company they are. I especially liked working with Amy, who is in the front office. She explained everything to me clearly and made sure I understood everything before they moved forward. Auto Body Unlimited did a great job with my 10th anniversary Miata and everyone there was super nice! I had some vandalism on the hood of the car as well as hail damage from a couple years ago (thankfully it was all covered under insurance) and ABU cleaned up everything and went the extra mile to clean up some additional scratches for us too. Not only that but buffed out our poor scuffed up front bumper that looked out of place with the new shiny hood paint. The car looks great now! When we picked up the car the owner took my husband and I around to see the shop and talked about their water based paint they use now, even gave us good advice about body work in general. Made us feel like part of the family. In the past we've gone with the place the auto insurance recommends automatically and have been very disappointed. Don't waste your time looking elsewhere. The team here is the absolute best at what they do. They are professional, courteous and trustworthy every step of the way. After my mothers car was deemed beyond repair and totaled, her insurance company offered her a terribly low number. Not knowing where else to turn I reached out to the ABU team who stepped in and helped me navigate the typical insurance company run around. Eventually with their knowledge and insight, we were able to negotiate $4K more than the initial offer. $4K that would have been out of pocket. These guys and gals definitely go above and beyond for their customers. In an era when good customer service is so hard to find, its nice to know that places like this are still out there. I rarely rely on Yelp reviews to make a decision but they were the only auto body business that had great reviews in my area. When I called my dealership to get a recommendation they told me to use Auto Body Unlimited, that's when I knew the Yelpers were on point with this one. I had to wait a few weeks to make an appointment, they're a small shop but the car was driveable and it was no big deal to wait. I am very, very glad I did. When I walked in I saw a plaque from Acura - another good sign. I dealt with Amy and Mark at the beginning and Amy kept me updated on the repairs. She even called to tell me the car was done but they weren't quite happy with it (we tried to do the repair without replacing the full bumper) and they'd keep it another day so the new bumper would be on and they'd be fully satisfied. They didn't want the car to leave the shop with their work if they weren't 100% pleased before showing it to me. While I was waiting for Enterprise Car Rental (who I am NOT happy with and will write a separate review on) an elderly man came in because he was having a problem with his car door. He didn't have an appointment but had left a message over the weekend, they looked at his car, offered to drive him home and said it would be fixed that afternoon. I was amazed. Customer service like that is not found these days. When I got my car back it was perfect. It passed my husband's inspection - his concern? That the paint matched, of course it did! When I told Tim my issue with National he told me to send him and email and he'd forward it to the manager's boss and if they didn't give me my money back, he would. Really, who does that these days?? I hope I am never in another accident but am happy to know there is a shop out there who does amazing work, doesn't screw you with the price and has old fashioned customer service. I can't say enough good things about ABU. My wife's Acura was involved in a major hit and run (over $10K in damage) and then I had an unfortunate slow motion backing up accident in my Honda. They repaired both cars to a very high standard. The panel gaps are even and consistent on both cars, and the paint blend is imperceptible. Daniel and Amy were super helpful and went way beyond the call of duty to make sure we were satisfied with ABU's work. You can't go wrong to choose ABU to fix any mangled bodywork. read more

I wanted to take the time to write this review. My wife was involved in a auto accident. Our usual body shop was booked up for 3-4 weeks. We were recommended to ABU by the service manager of a dealer. ABU quickly towed our car to their place of business. Daniel contacted us to let us know how the progress was going. Unfortunately the damage to our car was great. Daniel tried very hard to work with the insurance company to make sure we could have the car repair, right and back to us. But the final total of repairs would be more than the car's value. Though we never had our car repaired, the customer service was great. Daniel made sure to let us know ever step of the way the progress and was there to meet us when we picked up our belongings from our car before it was towed to be salvage.
