I stayed here for one night visiting all the way from Las Vegas. When I first looked at all the photos the room and bathroom looked really nice. However, when we got to the hotel, it was very dissapointed. First, the elevator that was close to our room was out of service which we didnt mind taking other elevator and walked. When we got to our room the keys didnt work. We were too tired to go back to the lobby all the way back, so we called several times to see anybody can come up to our room to give us the new keys. After 5th try of calling the lobby, I guess the manager? came up and told us that we probably kept our keys with our phone and told us to becareful blaming on us. Second, when we opened the door it smelled really bad and heater wasn't even working. Bathroom door wouldn't close & lock. I would probably never book this hotel if I ever visit LA again. read more

Update: They only gave me a slight discount on the room after making me wait until morning to get back inside my room after the lock broke. I'm sure it's an ok hotel if nothing goes wrong but if it does they will refuse to help you until it's convenient for them. read more

This is a 1 star hotel painted to look like a 2 star hotel. The hallways and rooms have a strong smell of harsh cleanser possibly masking some other smells. I was concerned for safety as they just use chain locks. They even have a chain lock on the sliding glass door in the room. The facility does meet all of the basic needs and it's not horrible, so it seems ok if you are in a pinch. But it is not recommended for an extended stay or for anyone looking for a quality hotel. read more

Looked for an affordable place to stay during our trip and found this place. It is in a nice location. Quiet and clean. We did ask to switch rooms since the first room we walked into had a few things not functioning as they should. Other than that, it was a good stay. 1 complaint I have is the beds! The employees at Glendale are great. They were kind, sweet, friendly, and very helpful. I definitely loved their customer service and the location of the hotel. I wasn't too fond of the hotel itself. It's very out of date, the creases of the walls are yellow and peeling, the carpet is old, and there's chips in the walls and doors. There was a smell when we entered the room and weren't too happy about it because it never went away. The AC didn't really keep the room cold and TV was slooooooow. Overall, loved the employees because they were amazing, but the hotel needs a lot of updates. read more

The staff are very patient and considerate! Front desk staff are great, but the hotel has some quirks that just can not warrant above a 3 star rating at this time. That's not to say that it can't improve in the future. The hotel is visibly trying to get a facelift- though, which rooms have received that lift thus far are not that conspicuous. The Room: hardly seems worth the nightly rate tbh. The TVs are practically prehistoric (one step above being a CRT), they have "chromecast" which you have to setup from your tablet, phone, etc., in a very roundabout way. If you're not tech savvy- even on a basic level, call the staff to set it up for you. Very difficult and frustrating to setup. The rooms seem super out of date. Disgustingly old thin carpet, wallpaper designs straight out of the 90's, in a not so charming way. The furniture has no fashion or feng shui, it just seems cheap and plopped in the room. The bed is...alright. They have an absolutely paper thin comforter on the bed which is not warm, nor comfortable. All of the electronics, outlets and such are located on one wall in the room lol it's so wonky. There are no microwaves in the rooms.. making a vacation experience with leftovers from a great night out super inconvenient. There are no closets to hang your nice clothes, no ironing board also. The rooms have a dingy, slapped together kind of feel to them. The bathroom had no fan for circulation and the lighting was just so creepily fluorescent like an office building, very sterile. The mini fridge was new and pretty cute though, so that's a plus. Also, the balcony was nice with a really nice view overall. The entrances to the hotel are not conveniently located aside from the front office, there is only set of elevators for the entire wing we were in which was a pain to get to every time. The pool and jacuzzi are nice but the same guests every day would just hog it up, leaving messes everywhere. One of my biggest complaints would have to be the inconsiderate nature of the housekeeping staff in the morning. I know, they work hard and have lots to do and commend them for what they do. But, every early morning this entire trip they were talking very loudly, and slamming every door to every room multiple times. And I mean MULTIPLE times, like several slams in just a minute's time. It made sleeping in, or feeling any sense of rest nearly impossible in the morning. Overall, If you're willing to put up with some inconvenience and somewhat drab atmospheres to save a couple bucks while you're staying in Glendale location is great. I know that the hotel can be much better in the years to come which sounds counterintuitive because I know this review might steer away some folks but I feel like if I had had some prior warning or knowledge about how this hotel would look, B, and the experience, I would have stayed away. read more

This is a very quaint and uniquely chic hotel. It has class, nostalgia and really great atmospheric energy. The kindness and positivity of the staff is refreshing. They take time with each guest and provide thorough information about the property and the surrounding attractions. Bill and Chris are awesome attendants. They showered me with hotel keepsakes at no cost. Imagine that...almost unheard of with most hotel establishments in todays economic times. Oh, and the cost of my stay was economical and cost affective to my budget. A truly great staff, very comfortable, and peaceful rooms. I will return again and again. I Had an event I was attending on Saturday morning and found this hotel online. The price was very reasonable for the location of the place. Check in was an easy process thanks to the Front desk gentleman Josh. The music they were playing in the lobby was nice. When I get to my room I realize I forgot to pack my phone charger , so back to the front counter I go. I asked Josh if he had a charger for my phone and if he would be able to charge my phone for me . Luckily he did have a charger and charged my phone for me. Not terrible. Lobby was nice and the staff were friendly. You could tell the hotel is in the progress of some renovations. Some hallways have older carpet and different walls. The updated halls are very nice though. Noticed that some of the rooms we walked past were missing the one-way peephole and just had a hole in the door.. So I would double check that if you stay here. The ceiling in the bathroom of our room was kind of moldy and the vent was very dusty. A/C worked well and everything looked clean in the room. read more

After I shared it was my son's gift birthday they made it a celebration: 1. They gave all my children gift packs. 2. There's a toy mashing me to grab the toys and my 5 year old one about ten toys during our one night there. 3. They brought games and a play pin into our room for the kid's enjoyment. In summary, the staff relentlessly gave us hospitality! The manager there is amazing! I can't wait to share with everyone about this boutique hotel at a economic hotel price! 4/5 a great place to stay if you need a quick place to sleep. If you are looking for a luxury hotel, this is probably not your place. Room was okay. The sheets were 10/10 which is important to me because sleep is the real reason I'm there. The bathroom needs renovations, but read some reviews that said no you water. That wasn't my experience, if anything the hot water was so hot I had to turn it down. Very thick blackout curtain so light doesn't come in from the balcony which is nice for better sleep. Didn't see any breakfast, but didn't expect or need it anyways. Forgot toothpaste and one of the workers was so nice and was able to help me out quickly. Extremely impressed with the customer service. Overall a great stay. Will definitely stay again! read more

This hotel used to be a Holiday Inn back in the day. The lobby is great but it immediately feels like a 60s hospital when walking down the hallways; very dull with daylight temp LED bulbs. They could do with some 3000k bulbs and wallpaper to warm it up like the lobby. Our first room had no lights except for the bathroom, and was obviously being renovated. We had to go back and wait a while to get a new room, which was a night and day difference. Once in the second room, we settled in. it's pretty simple, with a retro style fridge/freezer, internet that is fast enough to stream Netflix, instant hot water, clean bleached linen, and soaps in the bathroom. The only thing missing is a microwave. I do believe they have one in the lobby that they allow guests to use. They have chrome casts in every room, but our TV was broken, not an issue for us though. The place is in major need of renovations, but it was a great value, and much cleaner than anything else in the area for the price. Will likely stay again on our next stay in Glendale. read more

I liked the convenience of the location while driving my daughter back to college after a break. The room was clean & quiet and that was the most important thing. The staff was friendly and informative. The price was affordable. There was some things that were weird tho' - the TV was not a TV - it was a monitor that you hook up your own streaming services - you couldn't even get local news stations or basic network. That was really cheap to me. The decor was kind of this retro vibe, but it wasn't "all the way" with the vibe. It's as though they selected dated furniture and such to match the fact that they didn't want to update or upgrade their rooms. The wall-paper was cheesy, the ceilings were popcorn, the carpet looked dingy & out-dated, and there was brick on the floor of the elevator - weird. The hallways were cinderblock painted white, which was probably why the rooms were so quiet - in an earthquake though, there won't be much give or safety. Also, they make you sign something when you check in about smoking, which is great because I don't smoke or like to sleep where people are smoking - but they don't enforce it because someone near by either outside or in a vent-sharing area was smoking & woke us up at 1:30am to the smell of ciggy smoke. EW! Overall our room was clean, quiet and convenient. I did like the staff very much - they were informative and clear upon check-in & out. read more

When we pulled into the parking lot, I thought, "Uh oh, this place is huge and I think we made a mistake." The outside gave me the impression of a 1980's Vegas hotel in the daytime. Not bad, but not all that good. We had already paid for the reservation, and there is no same day cancellations, so we went with it. Don't let the outside of the place fool you. We were very surprised at how nice it is. They are definitely going for a cool Mid-Century Modern vibe, but it's not over the top. There are vintage, framed travel posters here and there, and some cool B&W photos of the American space program from the 60's, too. The lobby is nice and welcoming. I think that there are six floors, so it's got a ton of rooms. The room we had on the third floor was just fine. The elevators worked fine, and the room was spotless. It wasn't fancy, but it wasn't all derelict, either. The bed was comfy, there was a small vintage-looking fridge that got really cold, really fast. The A/C worked really well. Too well, actually. We had to get up twice in the night to turn it down because it was really making the room cold. Keep in mind we were there in the middle of a heat wave, and the outside temperature was 112 degrees in the daytime. That A/C was working great. There was a cool looking vintage chair, and then a dinette set that continued with the Atomic Age vibe. OK, so I'm 6'2" and that shower. Good lord. The shower head worked fine, there was plenty of hot water, and the water pressure was fine. But... to me, it just seemed like that shower was designed for people who are definitely short. I'm sure that I must've looked like a contortionist as I tried to rinse the soap from my underarms. That shower head was way too low for anyone even approaching 6'. We arrived after dark, and the parking situation threw us off. It seemed like there was only hotel parking on the west side of the hotel building. Most of those spaces were handicapped, and most of those were empty. It was as if ADA lawyers were trying to drive another business out of business or something. We were able to park right in front of the lobby on the street. It was only the next morning as we were leaving that we noticed a huge parking area to the east of the building. Check out time is 12-noon, which meant we got to sleep in! read more

Love the hotel and everything about it (the retro music lobby theme, balconies, free parking, fair price...) EXCEPT for the ultra-glitchy Chromecast TV. I've spent an afternoon in silence because it will not work, despite rebooting everything. Please just install normal TV! And please don't blame it on the age of the building. While the majority of staff have been friendly the hotel isn't. The rooms look like they stepped out of the 1980's despite the 1950's wannabe theme. It's no smoking yet i clan smell it from the other rooms. Here is my favorite, you have to request to have the room cleaned and they don't inform you of this requirement. I called to request and apparently it was too late, but I could request for Monday if I was still going to be here (I checkout on Monday morning). Why not Saturday or Sunday? Well, they only do garbage and towels only on the weekend. Would I stay here again? NO. Chances are slim as I live in Glendale and staying here due to mold remediation. So, more importantly would I recommended it to family, friends, etc? NO! To that end, it is simply not worth it! Look elsewhere. read more

Just because I have a small hypoallergenic dog that I pay an extra $75 for does not mean that I should be put in a room that looks like a prison cell. The pictures on hopper.com did not match what I was given despite the fact that I paid extra for a piece of crap room. My window didn't even open on the ground floor Dash you know there are ways that you can put safety measures and where someone can open a window when they are on the ground floor but no Glendale express does not offer that. There was no restaurant no bar and everything did not match up to the photos. read more

We travel to Glendale often and have always felt as though we were "settling" for either an overpriced room or a nice room in a crazy neighborhood. We were so happy to find Glendale Express Hotel and will be sure to return. For the price we had it all. A clean room, in a good neighborhood, with great staff. I wanted to like this hotel, but unfortunately I slept miserably because the bed was too hard, the pillow too big, and the air conditioning too loud (70 dB). Also, we had to plug into an extension cord on the ground to charge phones which resulted in forgetting our charger because it was out of sight.
