Scared to do a cavity fill on my son even though he's been there 3 times with no issues. Apparently not confident or competent.

Many people have been asking for updates, so I'll write here. Last time, when the front desk told me they hadn't included the medication because it wasn't covered by insurance, I insisted that they add it anyway, even if it wasn't covered. At first, they said it was impossible, but eventually, they agreed to add it retroactively. Today, I received a bill from the insurance company for that medication. Instead of $99, after negotiation, I only have to pay $14. Can you imagine the difference? Yet, I had already paid the full amount and still haven't received a refund. I was looking for a good dentist for a very long time . Previously I didn't have good experience with any of the dentist . Many of them were not honest or would not do a good job . Dr, Eric is absolutely amazing in every aspect. His work is remarkable and he is very honest. Everyone that works for him is extremely professional and very nice . Just started with Glenlake. Dr. Lim and Dr. Nuneh and all the staff are awesome! Really makes the dreaded dentist visit a nice experience. They fixed two of my old cavities and are fixing one more tomorrow a.m. I had five extractions in Aug. I was scared to death but much easier than I expected. Great job guys! read more

Dr. Lim is the best, but the dental hygienists are hit or miss for me. Went to one that near bled me to death and didn't even turn on the light so they can see what they are doing better, which I have never been with a dental hygienist that does not turn on the light from the chair. They were going so fast and so indelicate that I will make sure I never get that hygienist again. read more

Ugh! Avoid!!! My mother was a sweetheart and bought me a Living Social voucher for a dental exam, x-rays and teeth cleaning since I'm a full-time grad student and no longer have dental insurance. The x-ray tech was great and was very thorough, no complaints there. Dentist was very nice, matter-of-fact, no complaints there either. Now it starts to get bad when the hygienest (sp?) arrives....says I have terrible gingivitis after doing some tooth-by-tooth exam that I've never seen before and tells me that she cannot perform the teeth cleaning portion of my deal until I get $500 worth of scaling work done in 3 separate visits with local anesthetic (because my teeth will fall out and my life will be terrible, blah blah blah)---they also tell me I need my upper wisdom teeth removed. I am ushered into a 'consultation office' where a pushy woman pushes the hard sell on me and I seriously feel like I'm being sold a car...it was very uncomfortable. I apparently need over $1000 worth of dental work done, even though I had never been told any of this information before from my dentist last year. I was told that I could use the $$ from my living social voucher TOWARDS a future purchase with the office...uh, thanks but no thanks...I will be calling Living Social now to get my $$ (well, my mom's $$) back. They want to get you in there with an inexpensive deal and then try their very best to swindle you into spending mucho $$ for unecessary services. The consultation woman (Tanya I think her name was) even told me to CALL MY PARENTS for financial help because I NEEDED these procedures done because I'm so 'young' and she doesn't want me to 'lose my teeth'- pathetic!! I have been going to Glenlake Dental Care over three years now and continue to do so even after moving into Chicago; the travel is well worth their professionalism, talent, and friendliness. My RDH has been Katie and over the years she has kept me informed on how my teeth have been progressing and remedies I should take along the way. My 4 year old son had a sub-standard filling done and two weeks later needed an extraction of that same tooth. The dentist that did the filling left few notes (per her colleague) and the office was unable to assist with my son's pain. We went to another dentist the next day and they were able to see signs of infection and an ex-ray confirmed the filling went too deep and was failing. In my opinion, if Glenlake was not equipped to treat children (which was their explanation) they should have never done the filling in the first place. Additionally, this office offers $10 Starbucks gift cards to anyone who gives them a good review. Super classy. read more

I had a new dental plan and chose Glenlake because they are close to the house. i have not had any major Dental work for at least 20 years as I had seen by a dentist every 6 months. I booked my appointment and that is were the beginning of the end began. The staff paraded me around every corner of the office as the gloom and doom stories began bout my teeth.. I was told would need every filling replaced with more extensive work to my molars due to decay. I was brought into the "finance" room and told my insurance would only cover so much and the numerous procedures would cost me over $800 out of my pocket. The good news was the finance person would deal with my insurance company. I smelled a rat. They wanted me to leave a deposit and schedule 3 appointments back to back to back. I told them I did not have a credit card or check with me and could not wait to get out of there. Upon leaving I scheduled an appointment with my old dentist. He looked at my teeth, took an xray and told me "every thing is fine see you in 6 months". I don't write reviews (my second) but take my advice, avoid these scam artists like the plague. read more

They charged me a hefty cost for temporaries while waiting the two weeks for the porcelain crowns. I've never heard of that. Yes, the sharp jagged fake temporaries you wear for two weeks while waiting for the crowns! I called around to other local dentists who either laughed at that sneaky policy, or told me to report them to my insurance company. Since I paid for them, I kept the temporaries in for three months and went somewhere else for the actual crowns. Yes, you can do that, and I gladly did! Horrible rip off dental practice! read more

I've been going to Glenlake Dental since 2000, so this review is looong overdue. The doctors here are highly skilled and caring. I'm very afraid of needles and probably one of the worst patients a Dr. can encounter. Yet, Dr. Lim has the patience of a saint. I hardly feel the shot, as he does it very, very slow and takes a lot of time to numb me. I didn't commit to the full recommended treatment plan they gave me, but I do it at my own pace. I feel more comfortable this way. I read other patients' reviews here and it's surprising to me. No one ever pressured me to get work done. Yes, they insist on the BEST possible options for you but never coerced me. As far as the quality of their work, there are not many that come close! I moved to New York a few years back and hesitantly went to 5 different dentists in NY. I regretted each and every visit! The fillings weren't polished enough, the floss gets ripped by jagged edges of the fillings, some even discolored after just 2 months, some of the equipment looked dirty etc. For example, the light handles that NY Dr. was pulling toward my mouth with the glove that was going into my mouth, were covered by blue sticky plastic that wasn't replaced after each patient! Disgusting! I guess am spoiled by Glenlake's Dental sterilizing procedures... I've see the assistants here clean a room after me and every inch was wiped down, including UNDER those disposable lamp handle covers. So when I see cheaper prices at another practice, I now know where they are cutting corners - my safety and quality of the material! It costs money to have the best materials and high sterilizing standards. My decision is to come for my dental work here, whenever I visit my friends and family in Chicago. read more

I knew something felt off when my husband and I were patients here a few years ago. We both have good dental habits and good hygiene but we were told we needed an extra treatment not covered by insurance to treat gum disease and also told we needed several fillings. After visiting other dental offices since then, I'm certain that they over diagnose and sell unnecessary treatments. Our habits haven't changed and our recent hygienists and dentists have never mentioned anything about gum disease or extra treatments above a standard cleaning. I recommend going to another dental office where you won't be pressured into unnecessary treatments. read more

I am a first time patient here and came for wisdom teeth removal. My experience here is excellent. I am a healthcare worker and I must say the customer experience is wonderful. When I initially called, I called because I had an abscess on my cheek/tooth. I called same day and got a same day appointment. Check in staff was wonderful, very kind, and knowledgeable. Met with Dr. Nouneh the oral surgeon. Dr. Nouneh from beginning to end had a great bed side manner. He explained the procedure very well. I was a nervous wreck because the thought of getting your wisdom teeth removed at 30 is very nerve racking. Dr. Nouneh was very re-assuring. Explained the procedure well and took his time with me. The day of my wisdom teeth removal, I dr. Nouneh did local anesthesia. He numbed my mouth first with topical anesthetic before he injected my mouth with lidocaine. I was very nervous because I was awake up rest assure you dr. Nouneh was VERY GENTLE!!!! I wish I knew Dr nounehs assistants name because she was great as well. She helped me stay calm. (Curly dark hair dental assistant) Throughout the whole procedure dr. Nouneh and his assistant kept talking to me and keeping me re-assured everything was okay. The wisdom teeth removal took an hour. After the wisdom teeth removal Dr. nouneh explained everything to me and my husband(who was in the same room as me the whole time). I felt no pain throughout the entire procedure and felt no pain after as well. The day after the procedure I did not experience any swelling or pain. As long as you follow dr. Nouneh's instructions you will have no complications. It's now 2 weeks after my wisdom teeth removal and I experienced no infection, no pain, no dry sockets. I HIGHLY recommend this place for a wisdom teeth removal. Dr. nouneh and his staff are WONDERUL!!! I am definitely reconsidering transferring my dentist to this private practice. read more

I am new in town and needed a new dentist and Zocdoc rates Dr Lim very highly. Ignore the location, it's in a strip mall and is very unassuming but inside are friendly reception and admin ladies and Dr Lim himself is knowledgeable and straight forward. I was quickly in and out and will be back tomorrow for a cleaning. Will update my review then . I consider myself fortunate that I found Glenlake Dental many years ago. I was always concerned about retaining healthy teeth, but all dentists I saw were just "kicking the can down the road" by never signalizing the growing problems. This is what originally appealed to me in this center - doctors, hygienists and administrators were genuinely concerned about their patients' dental health, and were willing to address tough issues, even under the threat of losing some prospective patients. As a result, my whole family - children and adults, have been going to the Glenlake Dental center for 12 years. During this time, Dr. Lim worked on my husband's implants, my Invisiline treatment, and multiple big and small dental issues. The staff is always respectful and attentive. Marina is my choice for hygienist. I appreciate her passion and professionalism, she truly cares for her patients' dental health, and addresses smaller issues before they have a chance to become larger problems. This is the absolute worst dental office I have ever visited. It is very commercial and they seem to find non-existent problems with every client just to make an extra buck. My mother went in to get dental work done that did not even hold up and then went back to have it fixed and they charged her for their mistake! They told me I had to do a ton on dental work and just like some of the other people here, was told I had very bad gingivitis as well. They forced me to get some treatment because of it that costed more money than I expected to pay. When consulting with other dentists, I was told otherwise. Not what i expected from a dentist's office. my take on my visit was that this office is run by the front office folks and hygienists looking to make a quick buck. I went here based on location. I should have checked yelp reviews beforehand! i called in and requested a cleaning covered by my insurance but as soon as i stepped in, they pitched a full mouth debridement service even before an evaluation. similar to the other reviewers, i went through a series sit downs with office assistants and hygenists and they wound up making the call that i needed this higher level treatment. i initially declined as it wasn't explained to me clearly what they would be doing and i was starting to become somewhat wary. they then used scare tactics telling me that i would get gingivitis and regret it later. i was cajoled to getting the treatment and from what i can tell, it was not much different than a regular cleaning i usually get, except i was charged extra out of pocket. this oversell of services seemed like typical occurrence here. Just to be clear, this was not recommended to me by the actual doctor. i think the doctor did a fair evaluation and was professional. But i would never recommend this place. i don't think anyone should have to worry about oversell tactics when visiting a medical office. I went to another office several days later and got much more professional service there. read more

They pressure you into getting unnecessary work done-told my husband, after they did 2 crowns for $1800, that he needed another 2 crowns and two fillings just four months after the first 2! Really? He sees a dentist every 6 months and generally has no dental issues. Also told me my daughter needed her sealants re done. Got a second opinion for our old dentist-guess what? NONE of the work dr Lim recommended was necessary!!!! They have a high pressure financial "counselor" who tries to get you to set up the appointment right then and there, and even asks for a deposit for the work. Totally Unprofessional place!!!! I scheduled for 6 month cleaning at 2 pm on Friday which I confirmed 2 days ago. The office called a day before to change the schedule. I said no because I can't make it to other days. She was keep giving me other times because they have a gap in their schedule. So I told them I can come at 1:45 pm. Then they call me again in the morning to ask to come early on my exam day. So I came early like 1:30 on Friday. Then, they made me WAIT till 2 pm!!! What was the purpose of keep calling me and changed the schedule if you are going to be late. Ok, schedule wise, I can try to understand because things can happen and can stay behind the schedule. However, NO DOCTOR??????? After I was done with cleaning by a dental hygienist, she was getting a doctor for the exam. Then she told me the doctor left already. Seriously???? The office close at 3 pm on Friday and I was done with my cleaning at 2:35 pm. The most UNPROFESSIONAL place ever!! read more

I started going for service here because I moved to this area and due to my work schedule it was inconvenient to go 30 miles south to the dentist I'd used and trusted for many years. BIG MISTAKE. After having two procedures to redo fillings and a series of Xrays showing that I had several cracks in my teeth that needed attention, I went to my previous dentist and without telling him about the issues Glenlake Dental supposedly found, I had the same set of Xrays redone and everything was fine. I asked Glenlake Dental for my records and they gave me a hard time. I advised them that I was going back to my previous dentist and asked them (several times now) to take me off of their contact list. I continue to get texts, calls, reminder mailings and e-mails about making appointments. Borderline harassment. Stay away from this provider. read more

I came here to do my regular check up which was 60 dollars, they took me in punctured all my gums with a sharp tool and suggested i had "very serious grave gingivitis" which would rotten up my teeth and eventually cause them to fall off. surely they had a solution for me which was their 600 dollar gingivitis wash with some chemical who's name I cant remember. this is all fine and dandy, I decided to go ahead with the treatment because to be honest I believedd the deal and was scared shitless. once the treatment was over they suggested I had a couple of my molars filled with a white resin to avoid caries build up in the future. at around 120 dollars each which I also agreed with. Trusting it was the best for me. they also said they would give me a complimentary electric tooth brush as a gift etc...which they later charged me for 130 dollars. without telling me after it was all said and done they got from me well over a thousand dollars in a couple of days. later I had a friend come to glen dental care, and she was diagnosed with gingivitis as well, and they gave her an estimate for about a thousand dollars also, she later went to another dentist who told her she did not have gingivitis and did not need any of what she was told at glenlake dental care So I think these people are scammers, they sell their services very aggressively trough mail and phone , I later realized I had been coned, and I did not do anything about it after the fact because it was too late. but i sure as hell will tell it like it is if anyone asks read more

I couldn't agree more with Nikki T.'s review. I never have seen a dental practice over-diagnose dental treatments in my life. I have 2 dentists in my family and I've always had great dental hygiene. Glenlake dental wanted to put me under to treat my "gum disease". What a joke. I left that practice immediately and went to another dentist with a completely different treatment plan. My family has gone to glenlake for some time now. I honestly really like Dr. Lim and Marina who cleans my teeth. I have a ton of dentist anxiety and Dr. Lim is patient and very friendly with me. I couldn't say a mean thing about him even if I tried. I don't believe they are scamming you and frankly it's always your choice what you do. I appreciate their feedback and take it from there. HOWEVER..... Im seriously considering changing dentists due to the insurance lady with the blondish hair. I have honestly never met a more rude person in my entire life. She treats her coworkers poorly and the customers. She is extremely pushy and looks at you like you're crazy. I'm surprised she hasn't been let go yet because everyone I've talked to has avoided this place because of her. It's such a shame because the dentists are actually really good. I've seen other posts on here about her so I just wonder why Glenlake keeps her around to belittle their customers. I also know many in the community and because of her I don't recommend Glen lake... I hope Glen lake dental care realizes how poorly she treats people. I'm not even talking about any insurance fraud stuff like previous posts, she literally makes you feel like crap. I went to Glenlake dental a number of years ago - my entire family did. Every year I went I had numerous cavities, year after year well into my 20s (as did the rest of my family). Thinking back, and thinking about the dentists I've visited after, I've never had cavities like I did back when I was at Glenlake Dental. Before moving to San Diego this was my dentist. They always accommodated my schedule and had me in and out. No long waits in the waiting room while your in your head trying to prepare for the pain of the dental visit your going to endure. Thankfully all the hygienists and the doctor are so gentle. I'm not really afraid of the dentist its just usually unpleasant, but the staff here genuinely makes you feel comfortable.
