Dr. Obenchain herself is excellent--professional, knowledgeable, and someone I trusted for my care over the past three years. Unfortunately, the billing office completely undermines that experience. After a routine visit on March 19, I received a bill right before leaving for a family vacation (April 3-17). When I returned, my entire family came down with COVID, which delayed me from going through my mail. As soon as I reviewed it, I immediately called and paid the balance on May 1. Despite that, I received a letter from the billing office claiming no payment had been made and stating I would now be required to pay in full at the time of service. The tone was unnecessarily harsh and accusatory, especially given my consistent history of paying my balances over the past three years. Including a policy as if I were unaware or negligent felt condescending and completely disregarded the reality that sometimes life happens. There was no attempt at understanding--just a blanket, impersonal response. It's unfortunate because the quality of care from the doctor is not reflected in how patients are treated on the administrative side. In the end, the billing office's approach was enough for me to take my care elsewhere. If you choose to go here, be aware: the medical care may be great, but the billing experience can leave a very different impression. read more

Are you kidding!? I had an appointment with Dr Goldberg IV today. He is a total lunatic! Before he even finished putting his gloves on, I mentioned to him, that the last time I saw him, he looked at the tooth on the other side of my mouth, and he didn't notice that the tooth on the right side of my mouth had a broken filling in it at that time. He took offense and acted like I was criticizing him, and took his gloves off and stormed out of the room like a high school football linesman who must have gotten hit in the head a few too many times! All I could do is played Bruce Springstein Asbury Park on my iPhone wondering what in the world THAT was all about. But before two songs could finish Dr Capps came in and said they could not see me and suggested I find another dentist. Well, no shirt Sherlock! I wouldn't let that Dr Goldberg IV wash the bird droppings off of my car after his prissy tantrum he pulled today ! read more

Glenns Bay Dentists had been listed as "Best of the Beach", so when my son need some dental work, I called and they took him in immediately. They put him on antibiotics and filled his cavities. I was so impressed, as I had not used them in the past, but they took care of my son like he was a patient all his life. Since that time, my son told me that he was very impressed with the dentist and how at ease he felt in his care. I think it was Dr. Cleary. Well my son went on and on about how much he liked the dentist. I felt great for taking him there. Recently, my husband began to have dental pain. He was anxious about going and what kind of care he would receive. I suggested we stop by the office and talk to them. The lovely receptionist said, "we have an opening at 3 PM today", and we took it. She then handed my husband forms to fill out, so he would be ready upon his return. My husband was leery about trying this dentist, as he never needed medical care here. I said, "You still have time to cancel if you wish". He didn't, and went to the appointment. He saw Dr. Goldberg, and when he came out, he was so impressed with the dentist and the care he was provided, he went on and on about it. I have not yet been to this office, but have taken my family members and paid the bills. Their prices are reasonable for their services provided. My family has been very happy with their treatments and are willing to go to Glenn's Bay Dentists without squalking any more. read more

We have a condo and live in Myrtle Beach two weeks every month. I had not established a dentist here because we have one back home. I recently had an emergency situation here and tried for an entire day to contact someone who could work me in. When I called Glenn's Bay everything changed. They said to come as soon as I could and they would work me in. Didn't wait long and then saw Dr. Berkey. She examined the tooth and determined that I needed an extraction and would have to see an oral surgeon. She called a surgeon and scheduled me to go right then. I have knee replacements so I needed to take antibiotics before the extraction and she had me take them in her office before I went to the surgeon. I truly felt Divine Intervention put me in her hands. It was a seamless situation when I was in extreme pain. I will establish them as my dentist and highly recommend them to all. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE AT A DENTIST!!!!!!!!!! I recently moved to SC a couple of months ago. Unfortunately my tooth broke while eating over Labor Day weekend and of course all Dentist offices were closed. I called first thing Tuesday morning to make an appointment with Gale. I let her know upfront I don't have dental insurance yet and was wondering about payment options since I knew how costly this can be. She said I would go through a third party insurance company. She explained once evaluated total cost of procedures they would process my appkication. After being approved I'd pay nothing up front and set up a payment plan through them. I went into my appointment today very excited to get this taken care of. I brought in all necessary paperwork I had printed from there website. After waiting briefly I went in with a dental hygienist and explained what occured. She said she needed to take an x-ray which I agreed to. After we were finished the Dentist came in to introduce herself. She asked me to place my head back and she started asking her assistant for different items. Given my head is tilted back and mouth wide open I couldn't ask what she was doing. I figured she was evaluating the damage to tell me what needs to be done. After a couple mind I did notice she was getting some time of goo from what I could see from the assistant which I thought was odd. Couple min.s later she instructs me to sit up and tells me she filled the crack but it's temporary. I was so surprised I even told her why would that be done if it needs to be fixed not covered up. Told me I'd need a root canal and a filling but it couldn't be done due to the hurricane. She said the assistant will take care of everything, thanked me and walked out. The assistant gave me x-rays and a bunch of paperwork stating they don't do those procedure there and that I'd need to make an appt. with another facility in Murrells Inlet. I was very confused why I wouldn't of gone there directly. She walked me over to the front desk saying I can make the following appt to do the fillings here after the root canal. Mareen at the front desk looked at me and just said "$96". I asked her for what exactly am I being charged for. She said for the examination. I told her this was not explained to me that I'd have to pay for the check up and explained what was originally told to me over the phone . She then stated that Gale the receptionist has worked there for 10 years and doesn't lie nor would ever say that. I was baffled, 1st of all that I was lied to. Secondly I'm being treated horribly and 3rd of all how are you going to do procedure without informing the client 1st. It's like taking your car into a mechanic to get checked, then having him come out and tell you he's rebuilt the engine and charging you money without your okay. When I let Mareen know that I've never gone through this in my life the receptionist next to her asked if I've ever gone to a dentist in SC? I let her know No I haven't she said "Well that's your fault not our and that's how we do things out her!". At this point I was not going to be spoken to or treated this way. I asked to speak with the mng. This is where things got even worse! I walked into a room where Cindy Tisdale the manager said "I've never had some one try to skip out on services, you need to pay us now!". No hello my name is, nice to meet you just automatically raising her voice at me. Since I've been in customer service for over 14 years I let her know my name and explained all of the above. Her response was "If you didn't ask what the dentist was doing that's your problem and our receptionist Gale would of never said such a thing. Lieing won't get you out of paying". I was so insulted, I thought I was in The Twilight Zone. Never in my life have I gone through such an experience. I wasn't going to continue to be insulted, belittled nor yelled at so I told her what can be done. She said I'd have to pay or they'd call the police. This got me very upset because I never refused to pay, I wanted to know what I'm being charged for, why I was being lied to, how treatment was don't to me without any explanation nor consent. I asked to speak to someone above her. Cindy got up and started walking around her desk. I asked what was going on when she got in my face and yelled "I'M GETTING SOMEONE!". I was so startled and upset and I got teared up and walked over to the front desk. I told Mareen to just take my card so I can get out of there. The older receptionist that was sitting down next to her who heard everything and said I'm sorry. It didn't make any of what I just encountered go away but at least one individual had customer service and a heart. I will never go back here ever again. They lie, cheat and steal. I had been on vacation in Myrtle Beach, SC about a month ago. Came down with a really terrible tooth ache. I tried to ignore it so I could just visit my regular dentist when I got home. But after another day or two it became way too extreme to ignore. I asked a local for a dentist recommendation and I was told Dr. Capps at Glenn's Bay Dental. I called them up and explained the situation and they were VERY accommodating. They got me in the next day. The office was really nice and clean and the staff was friendly and pleasant. Really happy. I left with my tooth ache gone and I could at least enjoy the rest of my trip. If I lived here, they would be my dentist. Great place if people are searching for a dentist. read more

Stopped in on recommendation of my home builder and because of bad luck with Aspen Dental. They were able to fit me in and give me my semi-annual check-up. They were helpful and friendly and it was a good trip. I highly recommend them. read more

Did a great job dealing with a number of problems - extractions, crowns, partial bridges etc. - in a comprehensive and professional manner. The entire staff is excellent and friendly. The follow up visits were timely scheduled and any repairs to problems with the temporary fixes (which I caused) were done for free. This is a practice that does everything the right way. read more

On vacation like most, cracked a tooth on my way down, called first thing Monday morning, within 30 mins I was seen by 3 people, including a dentist, who fixed me up enough to get home and get a crown scheduled. This is a first class operation, professional, friendly and empathetic. They served my needs 100% and would recommend this establishment to vacationers and locals. A+ read more

Found this dentist on Yelp and was glad I searched. Had the best teeth cleaning and great dental care. Went with Dr. Obenchain who was very efficient. Was able to get right in and the staff was very friendly. Definitely see this practice as my landing spot. read more
