I also have to chime in about the price gouging I experienced during my last routine maintenance. Lesson learned to ALWAYS get a quote. I neglected to do that bc I figured it couldn't cost that much to basically get a tire rotation and have them spend 15-20 min checking fluid levels and stuff. Not complicated AT ALL. Attached is what's needed. I was charged like $200 and was floored. Esp now that I'm due for my next routine maintenance and other places are quoting me $35 for a rotation. Maybe these guys are fine for actual repairs and serious mechanic work, but I don't appreciate being taken advantage of, which is quite common in this industry against women, which is sad. read more

I've been going to simon for years. He quote me on breaks and rotors, parts in labor $1400.00 I found someone to do it for half the price parts in labor! People be careful of simon. I'm shocked. B.s. about OEM Parts! How long it took was 1.5 hrs! $1400.00 bricks and rotors is ridiculous, parts in labor. Parts put on my suv mercedes was Brembo. Price difference. Simon part in labor $1400.00, 1.5 worth at work! Other mechanic parts in labor $700.00, 1.5 worth of work! Always check how long it would take simon to do the work. Check with another shop before taking your car in to simon.To do the work. My mistake! You can make up your own decision. Simon cannot be trusted. I've been going there for I think, 6 or 7 yrs. Simon, why do I have to show the receipt to you? Who are you? I don't need you to be my mechanic anymore. Lol I see how the game is played. You're lucky I don't like fixing cars or getting involved in cars. What I know now I can open a shop next. Door to you and put you out of business. I don't want to waste my time on cars! You're the one that rip off your customers. I'm just telling your customers my experience for being a good customer 6-7 years, with you. I'm not questioning you on the work e for all this. So you're asking me for receipts, why would I give you receipts and give up my contacts. This work has been been done a week ago. I took a picture after having coffee and breakfast. That's why you see two rotors there. The mechanic was so quick. I wasn't going to post, but you keep opening your mouth. This is my third and final reply to u! I've been a good customer of yours. 6-7 years. Not one time I ever haggled about price. I'm a customer that drops off the car and wait for you to tell me how much. It's my fault for getting to comfortable with you. Throughout this experience i've learned where to source out materials on the cheap! Great experience here. I was having some assorted issues so I stopped by. Simon checked the battery and said it was very low. He ordered the required battery and told me to come back in 2 days. He worked on it immediately and I waited for less than an hour. Total charge was $400 for battery + $90 for labor. We brought our Toyota Highlander in to Glenview Automotive for a major 60K service based on a desire to find a cheaper and better service provider over the Toyota dealer who'd been handling our prepaid service contract. Communication with the folks at Glenview Automotive was prompt and easy. The price quoted over the phone was the price I was charged to the dollar, and most importantly the work was completed well, on time, and was more than $1000 cheaper than the dealer quoted. Note that this appears to be a "1 man operation", so if you're used to bringing in your car for service whenever you want and with little notice, you'll need to adapt your expectations for routine maintenance and schedule out a couple of weeks (I haven't evaluated them yet for their response to a more urgent/emergency issue). Took my '04 Tacoma with 315K miles to Simon for a timing belt/water pump/cam and crank shaft seal maintenance job. I was going to do this job myself but his quote was so good that it wasn't worth the 10-15 hrs this surely would've taken me. Simon was professional and quick. He did the job in one day and communicated quickly when he was done. He gave me back all the used parts that were replaced showing which really showed his integrity.This is not an easy job and most places wouldn't even do it or were charging more than double what he did. This shop has glowing reviews and I was excited to see such a highly recommended auto repair business within walking distance of my home which is perfect for me because that meant I could drop it off, work from home for the day and walk over when it was done to pick it up. I've also been looking for "my" mechanic for a while. Someone I can trust to do repairs that are needed and not try to cheat me. I took my car here no less than 6 times. A couple of examples - my car was making a creaking noise, took it to Simon and he said the axel needed to be replaced (can't remember if it was the left or right side) but he replaced it. Well the minute I backed it out and drove half way down the street I noticed it was still making the same noise. So I took it back and he checked it out, turns out the other side needed to be replaced as well. I would think a mechanic would check both sides...? But, I had him repair it and it was fine, but the lack of care concerned me. Another time I asked if he could check my transmission, just as a precaution. Well he had me park my car across the street, and mind you, I live a few blocks away, but I had a clear view of my car from my kitchen window. The car never moved, and was in the exact same position when I picked it up, so I'm wondering when he did the inspection... I was charged of course...The last time I had him do a repair he did my front brakes. He said I just needed pads and he did the work. The next week I took a trip up the coast and my car started making a horrible noise. I had my brakes checked and repaired before I left right, it couldn't be them. I ended up finding a random gas station and paid the guy $50 to grease them which helped with the noise a bit, but it came back. Really put a damper on the trip because we were worried the car was going to fall apart and we'd be stranded. Once I made it back I called Simon and he "didn't have time" that week, so I made an appointment for the following week. Seems like he would at least try to squeeze me in since he had just worked on my car and I had a concern about the work done. The following week he took a look and said nothing was wrong. I ended up taking my car to multiple places and finally the dealer who said I needed a new brake job and rotors. I had to pay for the diagnostic of course, and I thought they were trying to cheat me because I'd just had my brakes done and elected to not let them do any work on my car. Finally took it to another local shop to a man who has done repairs for me in the past. I should've stuck with him, but I switched to Glenview Automotive because the shop was closer. He inspected my car and immediately saw I needed rotors, and now new pads because the pads Simon put on were installed on bad rotors. My car drove perfectly after that. I'm not sure why my experience was so different than other reviews, but it's very disappointing. Maybe he just didn't like me personally, but the lack of care showed in his work. I don't need a fancy shop or a bff, just a trustworthy mechanic, especially as a woman. Despite me going to him for work multiple times, I thought it was interesting how when I would call for appointments he would say he was too busy, maybe he was hoping I'd get the hint and stop bringing my car to him. I broke my car window, and was super nervous it was going to be super expensive. I called at 8am and they answered right away and had me bring the car in. They mentioned we might have to order a piece, but they were able to fix it quickly with some glue since the issue wasn't too major, and was kind enough to do it free of charge. Simon is legit. My 1999 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport was stolen. The ignition lock needed replaced/rekeyed. Cheap-ish and easy enough. Since my first review, I had to seek out Simon's services for random events beyond my control. On a sunny day, my windshield wipers suddenly popped up from their normal "rest position".  I thought this was odd since I hadn't touched my wiper lever. I thought it might have been a fuse suddenly going bad, but when I looked at the fuse, it was intact.  I then thought it might have something to do with my wiper motor but I hadn't engaged it ( so that probably wasn't the reason). Took my car to Simon;  he pulled some panels off beneath the hood and found the problem.  Had to order a part from Honda but once it arrived and installed, my car was good to go. Parts and labor totaled $150 - much better than $400 for a new wiper motor! A second problem arose when I started my car after a hike at Joaquin Miller Park.  When I turned the ignition, my car, quiet and smooth when I parked, suddenly sounded like a Harley.  Had no idea why and took it to Simon.  He knew instantly what had happened:  someone tried to steal my catalytic converter.  ( Until then, I was unaware of the rash of converter thefts nationwide;  I am very aware now).  Simon directed me to a welding shop at International and 18th, who took care of my car in minutes.
