I've had two experiences with Glenwood Dentistry, neither were positive. WITH INSURANCE Glenwood Dentistry accepted my loved one's insurance so we headed there for a cleaning. It's a trendy facility with friendly staff and modern equipment. They took a bunch of x-rays and provided flossing instructions but did not clean his teeth. We couldn't even get an estimate. Instead, we'd have to return for an extraction and a periodontal visit. The periodontist would determine what kind of cleaning was needed. Worse, despite great insurance, the out of pocket cost would be $2,000. With no cleaning! Extremely disappointed we did not return. We went to Southern Smiles Family Dentistry in Riverdale and spent less than $200, cleaning included. WITHOUT INSURANCE Currently Glenwood Dentistry has a $59 exam, x-ray, cleaning Yelp special for those without dental insurance. I made an appointment and was told the $59 is for a "healthy mouth." If Glenwood Dentistry decides I need a "deeper gingival scale cleaning" it will cost more. How much more? They didn't say... Instead they recommended that I sign up for a $119 Discount Plan. After being pressed, a gingival scale cleaning is $300+ depending on whether a laser is needed. That's in addition to the $119 plan. If I decide to decline the recommended gingival scale cleaning? Then I won't get a cleaning at all.. Goodbye $59! Fyi a Google review quoted $990 out of pocket for the laser. I've cancelled my appointment. SUM If you want clear, upfront pricing avoid Glenwood Dentistry. I do not recommend. read more

This dentist office is overcharging patients, adding unnecessary "procedures" to bills, pocketing money from customers, completing unnecessary medical procedures and overbilling to insurance companies. I left my cleaning appointment after 1.5 hours without having a cleaning done. They wanted a $100 copay- saying that cost was after insurance coverage - then saying that half of that cost was an "automatically added oral cancer screening." I called my insurance and I have a $0 copay. Thankfully I only paid $50, not $100, but they fraudulently pocketed that $50, as I'm sure they pocket thousands daily as part of predatory and dishonest practices. They also priced out four additional visits for me totaling thousands of dollars and recommended a root canal within those next appointments, which is absolutely not a necessary procedure at this time and has never been recommended by another provider at any of my bi-annual appointments. This dental office needs to be investigated for fraud and medical malpractice. read more

Went to get two teeth pulled, ended up getting a very painful canker sore from the dentist poking the roof of my mouth with one of his tools, I felt rushed and the guy wasn't gentle or patient at all!, still in pain while typing this would not recommend. When I went back to go get it treated they had me waiting for almost 40 minutes and just gave me some mouth gel that doesn't even work. read more

2 of my top teeth cracked/broke and they are able to get me in next-day to get it fixed. My insurance had lapsed so they signed me up for a program called smile again which saved me thousands of dollars. The procedure took longer than expected, but my top molars look brand new again, you can't even tell anything happened. Really glad they were able to fit me in on such short notice. read more

0 stars!!! where do I start?! I've been coming here for years and I could say the old staff was way more helpful. They are scammers and will take your money. A simple root canal and crown turned into I have to get an implant smh. To top it off I already paid for half the services upfront and my insurance company paid for crown that I never received. I've reached out to both doctors and office with no response. They put you on hold and never come back to the phone. They tried to make me pay for additional services with a new plan and never finished the original services. I have been back and fourth with them since Dec.2025. They have a balance on my account for work that was never done aka insurance fraud. The office manager is very unprofessional and just hides in the background. I went for a basic cleaning which is 100% cover by my Ins. They tried to charge me. When told the young lady at the desk my service was covered , she simply turned her screen around to show me and I left. I called my provider who did a three way with the office. The lady said my cleaning was periodontal, which was NEVER discussed with me. I had a deep cleaning 8 months ago with them and they never said anything about periodontal disease. I will not go back because the front desk didn't give me information about what type of service they were charging. The didn't explain what treatment "they" said I needed before hand. Tova Asher overcharges for all her services. I was charged 3x for 1 single x-ray. I got a second opinion on a root canal she recommended and it was deemed unnecessary. I was required to pay a $325 deposit for a service that wasn't necessary and I never received the service, this money was never refunded. I had a root canal previously with DR. ASHER which maybe wasn't necessary in hindsight but either way I had issues with my bite. She was helpful with fixing that, but it seems like she recommends the most lucrative fixes for her patients. This service was deemed unnecessary and caused more harm than good. read more

I made an appointment to get a cleaning after not having a cleaning for a couple of years. I went into the appointment and was given an exam and a cleaning. Because it had been awhile since my last cleaning they claimed I have gum disease, which I didn't knew I had. I don't believe I did, but bottom line is they gave me a deep cleaning and charged me $1380.00. I paid for this cleaning day of, but feel totally ripped off. I just received an email from them stating that I have an appointment in two weeks for a cleaning. I did not make this appointment so I called them and told them to cancel my appointment and that I would not come back to their office again. Once I hung up I called back to say that I needed them to send me an email stating that I cancelled this upcoming appointment. The gal that I spoke to accused me of being rude and actually hung up on when I was trying to get her to justify the crazy price for last cleaning. Tried to make an appointment. I got swamped overnight on my jowl..Scheduled online.appointment.. . no one called.. so next day I called myself.. I was explaining situation ..that I'm not in extreme pain but it feels very discomforting.. Twice now, on 2 separate occasions I have called to schedule a cleaning. Both times I was told someone would have to call me back (after sitting on hold for roughly 15 minutes to speak to someone). When the next day came around, and I hadn't received a call back, I called back and was told that someone would call me back 24-48 hours to schedule an appointment. Fast forward 4 days and I STILL have not received a call. I WAS an existing patient. After I got off the phone with them on day 2, I called someone else and made an appointment because I just knew (since this was the 2nd time I'd been through this with Glenwood Dentistry) I was not going to get a call back. This company does not care about or value their patients. Employee turn over is extremely high and clearly the work ethic and patient values just is not there. Absolutely horrible customer service! I've called and spoke to the manager about a bill a collection agency claims I owe from 2021, but I pay every time I come into the office. I asked the manager for confirmation of this debt to make sure I'm not being scammed, and it's been more than three weeks since I've been calling and begging for assistance, and I still haven't received a response. I was an orthodontics patient with this practice until 2021. They went through three orthos while I was going to them. The last ortho "Dr." Kal was horrible to work with. He rushed my braces off even though I told him my bite was not right. I could feel that my teeth weren't fitting together properly when I bit down. He claimed that he could not see what I was talking about and after a while stopped making adjustments to my braces so I agreed to take them off. Back in November, I went to the dentist for the first time outside of Glenwood practice only for the dentist to tell me that (1) this is the most cement she had ever seen left on someone's teeth post- braces and (2) my bite is unstable and could cause jaw joint issues. She immediately saw and put into words what I had been trying to describe to "Dr." Kal. Now I am left to figure out what I can do to fix my teeth. 0/10 would not recommend Glenwood to anyone. As of today, the jaw issues that the dentist warned me about are starting to make itself evident. I was in contact with the office manager at Glenwood who at first attempted to help make things right by having me get new braces to fix the issue, then told me that the practice leadership agreed to give me a full refund instead, and now is not responding to messages or returning phone calls. As of today, I've contacted my lawyer since we are going on 9 months of back and forth calls and no resolution to this issue. read more

Very mixed experience here. I was glad to have a local dentist in the neighborhood and they had a good intro. deal the first time I went (for folks without insurance). The second time I went I was surprised as the cost quoted originally was much higher for a regular cleaning & exam even without the x-ray's (well over $200). It seemed like they also wanted me to get x-rays again even though I had them within a year. The dentist herself seems fine, very chatty, but polite and thorough. I didn't have any issues with the cleaning but I felt like I was being sold too for much of my visit. They are part of a corporate network that has their own dental insurance plan. The reason I don't have dental insurance is the same reason I wouldn't purchase this private dental insurance -it's not worth it unless you have more serious dental issues with higher costs. If you are just trying to get regular cleanings and exams as I do, at least at most places, it makes more sense to just pay out of pocket. In addition to the brochures and awkward discussion about the insurance as I'm sitting in the hygienists' chair, they also told me I grind my teeth but "have no fear," they have a solution for that too with an expensive custom mouthguard that they can provide with no discussion of alternatives and much more affordable online options. These guys may have more availability because they are newer and trying to get a regular customer base but for me it's not worth the hassle and I'm looking into other local options instead of coming back. I am confident that they could provide satisfactory dental services so I would not tell people to avoid it but just be prepared for potentially overly cautious advice and a lot of up-selling. read more

Do not go here. They may have nice, clean facilities, and seem polite and helpful on the surface. They are not. What they are is: 1. A Chain - They make it seem like they are a local business calling it "Glenwood Dentistry" but they are a national chain. It makes so much sense after you realize the other negative components, which are: 2. WAY WAY overpriced - I believe I pay nearly 3x what I should have for a crown here. I had no idea what the average was, but after now starting to go to Modern Dental on Edgewood (which is infinitely better), I realized they straight jack you here, charging through the teeth and recommending unnecessary work while also... 3. DOING A TERRIBLE JOB - That crown I paid 3x too much for? As soon as it on the dentist they have was like, "Oops there's a bit of a gap between the tooth and the crown, but we'd have to start over to do another one, so let's see how this works and we can make a new one if we need to." Well, rather than insisting they replace it there, after laying there for 4 hours while they took their time putting it on, I let it ride, and just had to pay to replace it with my new dentist, because rather than make sure they did good work at "Edgewood" they let me walk with a messed up crown. Then they... 4. Stopped returning my calls and cancelled my future appointment, which might have had something to do with my wife complaining about the terrible job they did on her dental work too, after they caused pain and suffering and took all day to do work that should have been in under 2 hours. They chit chat, waste their customers time, and cover it up by closing you out and moving on. Don't become the next victim of their terrible service, heavy pricing, and lack of customer care. I recently had a partial crown done. The work with my tooth was great however the billing, not so much. I signed off on an estimate. I put down a required downpayment. On the day of the procedure, I paid the balance, which happened to be less than the estimate. Then I was sent a bill. I tried to handle it with a manager over the phone, got no where. I've sent multiple messages through the portal. No response. Considering the office requires you to complete all paperwork through a portal, the lack of response if kind of lame. One of my messages to the front desk was actually sent to a different location, the manager there reassured me she sent redirected my message to the manager Akin but never heard back. Okay, in 2018 I absolutely hated the dentist. I was going to a practice that allowed a dentist to fill a cavity that was massive that would later crack and cause me to need a crown. Talk about pissed. Towards the end of the year I decided to become an adult and research new Dentistries and boy I'm glad I did. What adult do you know talks about having an enjoyable DEEP CLEANING? Well that is me. I couldn't stop talking about the service I received here. Never do I want to find another place to take care of my oral needs. They not only clean but they do health checks of your gums which I'd never had although it is super important because it's a great preventative measure for all other health concerns. They are thorough. The staff is amazing and beyond accommodating. For one of my appointments I needed to cancel the week of and when I called in I was able to get in that day. If you are looking for a dentist , literally a one stop shop because they do it all LOOK NO FURTHER. The proof is in the pudding. This is my first negative review and I have been using Yelp for over a decade. I tried to get my constructive feedback about a terrible customer service experience to the owner over other channels but I suspect that the office staff is preventing her from getting it because they dropped the ball in my case. I live in the neighborhood and was excited about this new practice. When I called to set up a wisdom tooth extraction the practice manager set me up with a date that was two weeks out. I made it known that I was in constant pain and was counting backwards to the day of the procedure. They told me they will get back to me with next steps and I believed them. A week goes by and I don't hear anything. Next week I call twice to make sure that everything is on track and I get the 'hmm... yes we are okay' response. A day before the procedure they call me to say that they haven't been able to verify my insurance and I will have to pay out of pocket. All this while I could have set up an appointment elsewhere if I hadn't depended on them. To me, it looks like a case of a poorly trained practice manager running a perfectly good business into the ground - but I can also barely think straight with all this toothache! read more

I was completely dissatisfied with the professionalism of the doctor performing my new patient diagnosis/service. This office diagnosed me with periodontitis disease on my 1st visit you cannot get periodontitis disease in 6 months. She only diagnosed me with this disease after she probed around in my mouth with that Sharpe tool causing excessive bleeding. That whole process was very painful and brought tears to my eyes. My gums were literally hurting for the next two days. I go to the dentist every six months for preventive care, so I knew something was wrong, so I reached out to my former dentist immediately after my visit and explained to them what happened, and they advised me to cancel my deep cleaning appt. In which I did. Bottomline this Dentist office clearly preys on people who do not know their own dental health and will take advantage of you please be aware and do not go there. One word: SCAM. My husband and I went there one time and never again but they came back to bite us in the ass a year and a half ater. We couldn't afford the treatment he needed at the time so we declined the deep cleaning that they tried to pressure us into getting. Almost a year and a half later, we go to a different dentist (that we actually like) and my husband gets the deep cleaning. Insurance decided not to cover it because they said he already had it with Glenwood which is totally false. He never had it done because we couldn't afford it - Glenwood just billed it to get the highest amount from insurance! I wish I had checked Yelp reviews before seeing this dentist. HORRIBLE experience. When I arrived I was told they checked my insurance and the visit would be no charge. They even handed me a piece of paper showing all zeroes. They then immediately took pictures with some fancy machine which I thought were X rays but they were not. After seeing the hygenist they came and showed me as estimate for some additional cleaning they said I need, but kept repeating that "this is only an estimate". So I declined the cleaning that day and asked them to submit a pretreatment authorization and they said they would. They never did. I have since come to find that my insurance denied coverage on the pictures from the fancy machine saying they only approve that for orthodontia. When I called to ask why they took pictures with the fancy machine immediately after telling me the cost estimate was zero they claimed they have NO IDEA what my insurance pays for. This is NONSENSE because they are IN NETWORK and have negotiated rates. I was talked over, talked down to, called "crazy" and treated very rudely. NO way will I go back to this practice, I feel ripped off. read more
