We had a fence installed in the late summer that needed to be completely reinstalled in early October because the posts were not dug deep enough, the mesh to deter animals omwas too short and the number of nails holding together panels was too few. The fence was so weak that our neighbors dog was able to pull a panel off. All these issues aside - scheduling with this company is impossible and they took days over the course of a week to complete this job poorly. The two men crew that arrived to reinstall today were friendly but did not understand how to complete the repair/ redo job. The men got a supervisor on the phone. this employee William, both on phone and in person he was unprofessional, lacked interpersonal skills, was rude, didn't know the job or his company's work, and refused to listen to what I was regarding a poorly done and incomplete job. Glidden should be ashamed to make this a customer facing employee. Customers beware - price will be cheaper but the work is done poorly - you get what you pay for with Glidden. In their case one bad job cost them more labor because the job had to be entirely redone. Second star only because our neighbor hired them and we have a fence standing now - hopefully long term. read more

We got quotes from 5-6 different companies and were immediately impressed with Glidden from the first interaction. The lady who came out and gave our quote was super thorough and transparent. The quote was definitely on the higher end, but we knew it would be good quality. We decided to go with a 6-foot privacy fence made of cedar, and we got a steel fence over our driveway. We are super happy with the quality and look. The ONLY complaint I have is the office communication. They installed our posts then didn't come back for a week. We tried to call multiple times, emailed a bunch, and never heard back until the day they came to finish it. Their office person goes dark sometimes. We had 4 or 5 local fence companies out to quote our job. My experience with Glidden has been nothing short of excellent! Albeit not the lowest, Glidden was among the most competitively price companies. Glidden was the most impressive company to us! Bill, who did the estimate, picked up on several issues that the others did not. He advised more space around our AC unit, he offered to string line the fence for approval and offered advice on look of the fence. Glidden removed the soil and debris at no additional cost, which was only offered by one other company. Glidden also offered an Angie's List Discount and early payment discount. Additionally, this company boasted a better warranty of gates and fence. Wendy Glidden was pleasant to deal with and booked the job within a few days. The post crew came out and installed the fence posts in one afternoon, leaving no trace of their visit. The fence crew returned after a day of allowing the concrete to set. They put the rails, gates and boards up and left, again not a trace of their visit. The team swept my driveway and the street, removing any trace of soil or wood shavings. I wanted to be happy with my fence. It looks great and it was easy to work with the company until it wasn't. About a week after the project was completed, we ran in a bath in our guest bathroom, and Our bathroom and Landry room flooded! We cleaned this and called plumbers to come out the next day. After hours of testing and snaking drains; one of the plumbers asked when we got our fence installed. He notices that there was a pipe busted near the house. It looked like they tried to dig a post and busted the pipe. The company denied this although my husband remembers someone spending a lot of time at this spot. We finally were able to speak to the owner after getting nowhere with the front office who actually said they would "be happy to go to court with us!" We finally were able to negotiate part of the plumbing bill with them. (They took $1000) off the price of the fence. We were still left with a bill for $3000 for plumbing and we wil probably have to replace flooring from the flooding. Again, I wish we could recommend this company but I cannot. They did not take responsibility for a mistake that they made and did not make it right. Be careful to review the contract that says that they are not responsible for damage to personal property (which by the way we were sent through and email but we never signed). read more

I ran thru my drive gate and smashed it to pieces. Glidden Fence came out 12 hours after I called and estimated the job. 3 days later the posts were set in concrete and the broken pieces of my original gate was taken away. All dirt from the holes was put in 5 gallon buckets, no debris was left in my yard. We had a snow event which left 10 inches of the stuff and folks were told to stay home and not drive. I thought the gate would not be installed for a week or more but surprise they came and built the gate by hand, board by board. read more

Do NOT use Glidden to put your fence up! I would give negative stars if I could. We had poor communication from the company every step of the way. We didn't know when they were coming out and when they were out they would put some of the fence up, leave and not come back for a day. The posts weren't filled will dirt, my husband had to clean our yard for 2 hours picking up concrete and clay and our driveway was covered in dirt. We called the home office weekly and asked to speak to the owner. He was never there or available and no one called us back. After a month of persistently calling the administrator said if we wanted to talk to Mr. Glidden we had to come to his office. My husband went to the office because we wanted the project done right. Immediately Mr. Glidden was offensive and told us that 'we don't guarantee our work 100%.' We couldn't believe those words came out of his mouth! He said all you had to do was ask us to come out to fill in the holes and my husband said, I did, I've been calling you for a month. We asked for money back and he said he would take us to small claims court if we tried to get money from him. This is the most unprofessional company we have ever come across. Glidden had a great sales person, good timing in putting in the fence after ordering, however, they admitted to ONE area where they hit our irrigation system. They sent someone out to repair it. That person said if there were anymore issues to let Glidden know and they would repair them as well. My husband and I both reached out to Glidden who refused to accept that there were two more areas that were damaged. It was clearly their fault, for when we had the irrigation system blown out for winter, they spotted the two areas. When they got in there to repair those areas, they took pictures to show it was the fencing that did the damage. Glidden refuses to pay for the repairs. I will never recommend them again. read more

We are doing a large project, and without telling us they cut down 4 trees after we talked to them and explicitly told them to avoid cutting down the trees. The did anyway after trying to contact us 25 minutes prior to cutting them down. The grandson of the owner said "they were fucking mullberries" and they are "fucking weeds". Glidden installed cattle and scalloped decorative vinyl fencing to the tune of $11,000 in 2015. The owners son and company who worked on my cattle fence were slow, took frequent breaks, and practically tailgated in my yard. The Hispanic workers worked on my scalloped decorative vinyl fencing. They were very attentive, worked very hard to make sure it was perfectly level and straight. It still looks wonderful today. The whole time working with Glidden (who is unfortunately a local business), they were TERRIBLE at customer service. It took so many phone calls to even get a call back on an $11,000 job, before, during, and after, It was beyond rediculous. I echo many of the customers left holding the bag for this terrible company. I was often talked to like I didnt matter, they had business coming out of their ears, APPARENTLY. To make matters worse we were recently devastated by a horrible storm that sent an enormous limb through our vinyl fence, exposing my dogs to a busy road. I have called every day leaving a detailed message and they simply wont return my call!! Now other fence companies tell me they wont fix it because its glidden's work. The customer service before installation was great. However, we have one panel that is scratched. They also quoted our fence for one size and installed less. Both times I've called them about these issues, I've been treated rudely and told they will not compensate us for their error. Our scratched panel is still not taken care of three weeks later. I wish I could give this company minus 5 stars. My experience with them had been nothing short of horrible. Starting with the fence itself. I had a 6 Ft wood privacy fence put in last year. In the first 3 months I had boards starting pull away at the bottom and warp.. I had boards start cracking and splitting... the boards were also FULL of knot holes. I had also explained to them that the fence has to be close the the ground as I have small dogs.. I ended up with places that are 10 inches from the ground....When I called to let them know they were rude and just blew it off and said the fence is good and they aren't responsible. I had them out for an estimate for 36' of fencing with lattice on top and to fix two posts that are crooked in our existing fence. Out of three estimates they came in a lot higher than the others. (over $900) The estimates were all from reputable large companies, using the same materials (western red cedar). Glidden who originally installed our fence came out in the fall of 2015 and gave us a quote for 735.00 for materials/labor. I called/emailed the person who quoted me 4 times with no response. I then left numerous messages for him at the Glidden office, with NO response. In 2016 my daughter graduated, I started a new job and my daughter went to college. I then got back to the fence and tried calling Glidden again, I was sticking with Glidden because they had installed the original fence and because we share a fence/fence line with our neighbor who has the exact same fence so I wanted to keep it the same if possible plus the quote seemed good to me. I left a message for a manager to call me back, in March of 2016 a woman manager did finally call me back. She admitted that I had called/emailed multiple times and "she wasn't really sure what happened". She also wasn't apologetic either. Just very matter of fact. She said they would need to get someone out to get the fence looked at again since so much time had passed. A couple of weeks later, I had to call back and finally got an email stating our fence was too old to be fixed and that it could be replaced for $3800.00. Obviously frustrated I called Glidden and Mark answered, refused to let me speak to anyone else. I explained the situation to him. His response was "well it sounds like you didn't get what you wanted, we aren't the only game in town, go somewhere else, I don't get paid enough to deal with this" WOW. So somehow my fence went from being fixable but because they didn't return my calls, now it must be replaced??? How is this treatment ok???? read more
