From the moment we pulled up, the staff greeted us by name (they'd remembered our reservation note about celebrating our anniversary!) and led us to a shaded patio overlooking rows of Cabernet Sauvignon vines. The 2019 Cabernet was rich with blackcurrant and vanilla, balanced perfectly, and we ended up buying a bottle to take home (they wrapped it in a cute linen bag as an anniversary gift--such a nice touch!). We also split their charcuterie board, which had local goat cheese, honey from their on-site beehives, and crusty sourdough that paired flawlessly with the rosé. We were surprised to learn how young he was and that he had only been working at the winery for two years. He did an impressive job. The tour itself was great. I loved hearing the story behind the winery and learning about the owner. The property is absolutely beautiful and massive. There is even a waterfall inside the underground caves, which was such a cool feature. The tasting experience was also very nice and informative. You could stay and do a tasting at the counter but with it being so nice out and tables were set up along the lavender farm, it was a given. Their tasting menu consisted more reds which we were perfect with. 2 of the cuvée and 2 of the Cabernet Sauvignon. Everything was quite tasty and went down very well. The gal that took care of us was quite sweet and extremely friendly. Explaining everything to the tee. Making sure that everything was detailed before we started. Of course being sister members, we were able to have a tasting for four that was included. The last time we were here, they graciously showed a little tour of the wine cave. The Malbec was absolutely to die for rich, bold, and easily one of the standout wines of the visit (and yes, it's priced over $100 a bottle, which says a lot about its quality). We were definitely impressed. I also purchased a Sauvignon Blanc for $37, which was crisp, refreshing, and perfect for a hot summer night. I'm really looking forward to enjoying it later. What stood out most was the elegance of the winery and its beautiful grounds. Upon arrival we were greeted by Brennan who directed us to our private wine tasting room which was amazing. Despite being 45 minutes early we were promptly seated with no delay. The room had two beautiful white sofas, leather chairs and a roaring fire place. Brennan was very knowledgeable with the wines and history of the winery. She was personable and had great interpersonal skills. The entire experience at Michel-Schlumberger was incredible.
