Went to 4 wineries for tastings during a family trip to Napa. Joseph Cellars was by far the best. Exceptional service from our tour guide, Timmy. We got to tour the cave as well as conduct our tasting experience inside of it. Timmy gave incredible descriptions of notes we should have tasted in each wine. The small bites provided accented each wine beautifully. Thank you for the incredible service and hospitality, Timmy. The property itself is so beautiful and welcoming. We highly recommend a tasting/tour here!

This is a must do winery while in Calistoga. Marie is the best. Ask for her for your tour you won't be disappointed. FABULOUS FABULOUS FABULOUS

Such an amazing wine spot. Marie was amazing. Would give more stars if I could. The cave was beautiful and cool. The experience of the employees made the experience.

This is a belated review of Joseph Cellars Winery in Calistoga, where I had a reservation for my group of 15 girlfriends for a 40th milestone birthday in Napa. For my milestone birthday I was looking for a boutique winery that had cave tours. Joseph Cellars not only had a beautiful rustic winery and grounds, they had a large cave where their wines were made and stored. And my group got a private tour of the cave! When my group arrived, we were seated in the library past the main tasting room. The library had sofas and chairs, plenty of space for 15. The gentleman who hosted our group was welcoming and a great story teller. He pointed the wines from the tasting menu, took group photos, and gave us a lovely tour of Joseph Cellar's cafes. Sadly, I can't remember his name but he was great! After the cave tour my group had down time to hang out, talk, and drink more wine in the library. I loved the private setting. Thank you Joseph Cellars Winery team and our host for welcoming and accommodating my group of 15 for a milestone birthday! I am so grateful they welcomed our group; as many wineries in Napa Valley are still not accommodating larger groups in the pandemic. Highly recommend if you are looking to book a large group for wine tasting and cave tours at a gorgeous boutique winery in Calistoga!

This has been our favorite winery we visited so far! The wine and food pairings were all outstanding and the cave is magnificent. I loved every wine and loved how they gave each person a detailed sheet of the wine and it's food pairing, but had a space for notes so we could record our thoughts for each pairing. Beautiful space. Ended up buying a few bottles of wine to take home too. They have a sweet cellar cat who is so friendly.

A Calistoga Must! Joseph's Winery was one of the most unique and excellent wine tastings we've had! The vineyard is so welcoming- a true family operation. The wines are amazing and the tasting rooms and cave are stunning. Keagan, our host (also the operations manager) really made our group feel like VIP's, as did the owner, Joe and his beautiful wife and children. The wine was exceptional (that might explain the case I bought and why I joined the club) as was their hospitality. Our group was a little naughty towards the end (a little on the loud side), but we were never rushed out. Fun tips- Book a cave tour- so fun! Try Yoga and Bubbles on Sunday mornings @ 9. $20 with the class + champagne after or COMPLIMENTARY if you're a club member. The bonus is the wine cats that wonder by as your doing yoga poses. The custom cheese here is amazing!!!

Wonderful little winery with good wines. Make sure you make reservations for tastings as it is required and well worth it! I will be bringing friends to this spot for tastings and the view.

At Joseph Cellars with Joe!! Fantastic tasting wines and had a great time learning about this true Family business.

I couldn't believe that I joined a wine club, however after tasting the wines at Joseph Cellars Winery - I was hooked. In fact, there was another couple with VGP and I on this trip and we both joined the club. We had tastings of quite a few wines and even had a barrel tasting. There was only one wine that I truly did not like the taste of (interestingly enough this was Joe's personal favorite). The delivery of my wine has since arrived and I've opened one bottle - a 2012 Chardonnay and it was as tasty here as it was when visiting the winery. Joe calls this boat wine - I liked his take on 'neighbor wine' as well. I bought two late wines and can't wait to open those up! The experience of meeting Joe and Hannah was fantastic. I think I teared up when Joe shared a personal story of when his dream of owning a winery came true. We are already planning on going back to Napa in September and we will be sure to stop in to Joseph Cellars again.

The wine tastings were all delicious and added a lot to the visit. The only downside was unfortunately someone in our tour group. One woman made sure everyone knew she was a member and kept mentioning how she had already seen the castle too many times and was bored of it, saying she only came to bring her family for a birthday. It kind of disrupted the experience for the rest of us. When we got to the torture chamber she also started making some really inappropriate remarks, which was a bit uncomfortable for the group. Aside from that situation, we still had a great time and really enjoyed the tour and tastings. Overall it was a memorable experience and definitely worth visiting if you're in Napa. 5 stars for Eli!!

Romeo holds a special place in our hearts because we visited them a little over seven years ago. During that experience (which you can read about in my previous review - if interested), my wife and I had a grand experience with former Business Manager Emma, who administered the delicious tastings. Fast forward to the present, we looked forward to enjoying a glass of their finest red before finding lunch. Upon entering the walkway, we were enthusiastically greeted by an employee named John who quickly ushered us to a vacant table for two. My wife had a slight reaction to the beautiful flowers that were in full bloom. Out of the kindness of his heart, John provided my wife with a bottle of Pure Leaf tea that calmed her allergies. We told John that we were interested in enjoying a glass of red, in which he quickly ran off and returned with a bottle of 2009 Eugenia Cabernet Sauvignon. Upon doing the swirl and sniff test (sounds dirty doesn't it?), I knew that we were in for a treat. Since we were both in dire need of a meal, we sadly could not continue the party. However, we will make a return visit in the near future to enjoy a full tasting experience!

When we arrived inside, we found out that it wasn't a private tasting and were shared a 4 seater table with another couple across from us, and also a group of 10-12 next to us. I'm not sure if there are different tastings you can book on their website, but I did want to mention this. Our wine educator was very personable and knowledgeable though, which was great. He managed our table and the large group next to us and made the entire tasting seem like one large group tasting. As for the wines, I didn't enjoy them quite as much as other wineries we went to on our trip (Fortunati and Joseph Phelps). The price of the Frank Family bottles were also comparable to Joseph Phelps, but slightly cheaper on average. For that price, I would have expected a better taste. At the end of our tasting, our host did bring out a 2019 Winston Hill Red which was on the higher end compared to the typical wines provided at the tasting - this one was tasty and was actually one we purchased. He's so personable and he took his time with us and we didn't feel rushed at all. We just felt so comfortable w/him, as if he was a friend. I forgot he was on the clock! 5/5 for Sam! We were able to walk into the grapevine areas and snap some pictures. He gave us all a tour of the inside where they keep the barrels. We really enjoyed the wines and Sam's company. This is the reason why I'm not rating it a 5. We were out front waiting to use the restroom and there was a guy hanging out there. I asked him if he was the owner and he said he was. I'd read reviews about how nice the owner was. But upon meeting him, I did not get the same impression. I let him know how wonderful Sam was and that he's the reason why we returned for a 2nd visit. The owner's mood changed, he stopped making eye contact with me and looked away like he didn't want to hear me praise his employee any further. You would think he'd be like, that's fantastic, I'm so glad you returned, etc. But no. You'd think, as the owner, he'd be super pleased to know that we're a repeat customer because of his employee. But I could tell by his body language that he was bothered by it. I think he's accustomed to other folks praising him, telling him how nice he is, etc. and I didn't, so that stung because pretty quick into the conversation, he took a dig at me for our choice of restaurant we were heading to next. (We loved it the first time, that's why we were going again :) ) It's quite funny because upon arriving to the restaurant, there was a HUGE party (30+ people) seated behind us. All men and dressed really nice! We asked an employee what was going on and he told us they were a bunch of winery owners in the area and their friends celebrating a birthday, oh and the owner of the 49ers was there too ;) So yeah, the crème de la crème was sitting next to us. I guess they didn't invite the owner of Madrigal. Side note, w/the summer time approaching, I'd encourage them to invest in an additional umbrella for the outdoor furniture since there was a party reserved on the deck and they were using all of the umbrellas.

A cozy tasting room, with intimate seating and a really fun selection of wine unlike anything I've ever had. I see a couple of reviews here complaining about party size limits and the timing of final tastings. I unfortunately witnessed the same level of entitlement from a group of 13 people who came in asking to be seated 45 min before closing. First, read the web site. Tasting room rules and requirements have been changing since COVID. This should be nothing new. It was kindly explained to the large group that the tasting room was full, that they only accept small parties, and the last tasting is at 4 pm. Once, that detail was explained to one person in the group, another would ask the same questions and would receive the same answer. Hannah politely declined THREE DIFFERENT PEOPLE in the group before their final entitled and 'intimidating tactic': asking Hannah or Alyssa if they were the owners (they are not). The woman declared "we're all business owners and we wouldn't turn away a party of 13 people that could bring money into our business". Good for you, 'Susan'! Tank employees are purely following their business policy, which is clearly stated on their web site and don't run your business. Her final intimidation tactic was to ask for the owner's information-- which she didn't take--and the group finally left. Good riddance. Tank is NOT the winery for you, Other than the experience of yet another group of entitled wypipo ruining the tasting experience of those of us already there, we had a wonderful experience, bought a membership, and will be back again. This is the atmosphere and environment that my partner and I enjoy with the types of kind and knowledgeable employees we love who will smile through all types of garbage shoveled at them with no problem. If folks complaining about arbitrary things had othered to look at the website for specifics, perhaps they'd move on instead of trying to intimidate their way into another situation
