I was referred to this laundry service by a friend and I couldn't be happier. I'm super picky when it comes to my laundry and I don't like to dry a lot of my clothing items, and this service will wash and hang dry whatever I want, which is perfect. I've even had them wash my comforter and it turned out great. It's comforting to know my stuff won't get ruined from any sort of washing. I also love the pick up and delivery service. I used to use this place a couple of years ago till I noticed that they didnt have hot water all the time, well It didnt bother me that much because I lived nearby and it was conveniant and because I really didnt need hot water because most of my clothes were delicate wash. I had stopped using them because Andjew, I think he is the owner, had yelled at me once for going late at 9, I think they close at 10. I was so embaressed. Well recently I started using this laundry again because they dropped the prices to $1 for wash. You know the saying what you pay for is what you get right? Not only do they still not have hot water but It seems as if they now have less water in the old machines. I am the last person on earth that would write something bad about a place but I just had to share this. I am not saying not to go there but excersise caution. Try this place for yourself and you will see. And if you are a young lady, avoid any confrontation with the owner because he gets loud. read more

This was one of the worst experiences I've had with a business. When I first called Andrew to ask for information about rates, I noticed he had a pressured way of talking on the phone, as if he didn't have the time to speak with me. I didn't think much of it, given all the positive reviews on here. We scheduled our first pickup, and he arrived 10 minutes earlier than he told me on the phone, and then dropped the clothes off when we agreed. However, when I opened the bag, I found that the duvet cover for my bed comforter had white stuff all over it (shown in my picture--the purple hue is from my camera), which it didn't have when I gave it to Andrew. I called and left a voicemail for him, and he never called back. 3 days later I called again and reached him, and explained what had happened. Andrew's response was that he could tell that I was picky, that there had been no problem with my laundry, and that the stain must have occurred after I opened the bag - that he doesn't know what happened once I brought the laundry in my apartment (as if I should have opened the bag and verified with him that my laundry was clean before bringing it into my apartment), and his tone was very condescending. I asked Andrew if he would rewash the duvet cover, and he said that he would but that he wouldn't pick it up from me, and I would have to drop it off to him. I couldn't believe that after having my laundry returned to me unclean, I was being accused, insulted, and would now have to take the time drop off my laundry to have the service that I already paid for done properly. Still, I dropped off the duvet cover, because I didn't want to pay a second time to have it washed elsewhere. I had thought that once Andrew saw the white stuff on my duvet cover, he would realize that he didn't wash it properly and stop acting so rudely. When I called him to ask whether my duvet cover had been washed, he said that he had seen the stains, but said, "We didn't do that." He said I would have to come pick it up (during a week of snow and frigid cold), and I explained that I had hoped that once he saw it had been washed improperly he would drop it off to me, but he responded, "I'm not coming by there no more." Today I picked up my duvet cover (an expensive garment) and it's now very noticeably faded, as if it has aged some years. In all my interactions with Andrew I acted very patiently and respectfully, and still was treated this way. My laundry was returned to me unclean, and it's stressful to be accused and insulted when a service I paid for isn't done correctly. This kind of disrespectful, self-righteous service is bad enough, but it's worse when someone treats you this way after messing up your laundry, and then wastes your time by making you travel to him to correct the problem -- added to which my duvet cover is now significantly faded. This is my first-ever negative review, and I'm surprised that this business is rated so highly. I notice that most of the positive reviews here are from women, so perhaps he's courteous to women and treats men differently, because my experience with this business was stressful, a huge inconvenience, and harmful to my laundry. [UPDATE] In response to Andrew's comments below: - As I've told you, my duvet cover did not have that stain when I gave it to you. My first time seeing it was when I opened the bag. I wouldn't have taken the time to write this review if I weren't sincere about this. Also, when I first called you about the stain you said that it must have occurred after I brought the laundry into my apartment, as if you hadn't seen or known about the stain, so either this or your claim that, "The stain on duvet cover was already there," is untrue. Even if the stain had been there when I gave it to you (which it didn't), I paid you to clean it, so it should have been clean of the stain when you returned it to me. For example, after your second washing the stain is gone, but in addition you faded and aged my duvet cover. - Being 10 minutes early to pickup laundry doesn't justify providing otherwise horrible service to a customer, nor does being in business 28 years. Neither of these things entitle you to behave the way you did. Because of your lack of service, I had to travel to your laundromat twice during "the sub zero polar vortex," after I had paid you for a pickup and delivery service. read more

I used to come here all the time to get my laundry done. I have stopped using them completely about a year ago (I am a little late on this post) The laundry always came back smelling great. However, and this is the only reason why I gave it one star, but it's exactly why he loses customers. The owner Andrew is very rude and does not know how to talk to his customers. The second time he picked up my laundry he also responded the same way via text as another customer stated- Me- " How late do you open" Him- "Blah Blah (whatever time)" and please do not ask how late we open or say hey it is degrading." WTF that statement you just made makes you seem like a condescending person who is above everyone. You do not treat your customers that way. A business owner should be friendly. And if you address this with him he will just say that he treats all his customers this way.....that's not okay. Also I sent bleach with him once when I did drop off my laundry, and him or his staff lost it. After I asked for it back he said that he did not lose the bleach and I must not have given it to him. I told him I was very certain I gave him the bleach. He responded I am not arguing over bleach with you, I'll refund you the bleach if it is so important. read more

This is the best laundry service in Astoria. Service: You can text for pick up and will receive a quick reply from Andrew. He is incredibly nice, courteous, communicative and prompt. I tried another service in Astoria that never (not once!) picked up or delivered when they said they would and quoted me at one price over the phone and another upon pick up. Quality: Perfectly washed and meticulously folded. If stores folded this well, they could probably fit double the stock on shelves. Price: It's barely more than what I used to pay when I did it myself. And as much as it annoys me to prove my mom right, but they do it better. Tips: They are an excellent service, staffed by great people. Tip them! If you have a specific request or instructions, let Andrew know and maybe include a note. read more

Do not use drop off/pick up. The first time they messed up and actually brought me another girl's laundry bag because a "new employee" didn't sort the laundry correctly and they weren't sure whose was whose. I had to do it on my kitchen floor at 6 am while the owner texted me until I was done. He showed up an hour earlier than requested each time and called/texted me until I woke up. After that, he was apologetic and said this never happens, free laundry on us. Eventually I gave in...same deal, showed up way earlier than agreed (this is early morning so it makes a difference). Got my laundry back and was missing at least 3 specific items of clothing. I didn't even bother calling because the guy is so uncomfortable to deal with, and I'm never using them again, not even for free. read more

After putting off laundry for some time I decided to search for a place to get this done quickly and efficiently. I found Glo-Brite through Yelp reviews. It has had 5 star ratings and it's for a reason. You can quickly drop off and have it ready same day if drop early in the day. Clothes come back clean & folded. I was impressed with the quality of service and price. I am happy I found this. What's even better is the convenience of free pick-up/drop off. Andrew was great! He came to pick up my laundry at 10:45 AM and had the two bags done and delievered back to me by 2:45 - I forgot to pick up cash so he let me write him a check!! I also asked him to have my winter coat dry cleaned - he happily accepted - although the coat wasn't as fast he did deliver it right before i went to work to ensure that I was home! I am so glad I came across Andrew at Glo-Brite Laundromats as he has always been so friendly, and truly cares about his customers. He picks up my laundry early in the morning before I go to work and drops them off the following morning. His prices are cheap and the quality is AMAZING compared to the services I have used in the city. He even offered to bring me Starbucks the morning of a big exam! I've had amazing experiences with Glo-Brite. It's so easy; I text Andrew when I want my laundry to be picked up or dropped off, and he usually is able to come by within 20 minutes. My clothes always smell great, are clean, and are done exactly how I asked- even with clothes I ask to be air dried. It usually runs me about $20 for a full basket, and I know I can trust them. I started going to Glo-Brite because they were close to my apartment when I first moved to Astoria about 3 years ago. I'm honestly not sure how they make any money. For what it would cost me to buy a bottle of detergent and stand at the machine pumping quarters into it to wash my clothes myself, I get my clothes washed and folded, and I get 3 hours of my life back. I would recommend these folks on that alone, but if you add in the free pick up and delivery, you'd be a fool to go somewhere else. And when the other reviews rave about the level of customer service at Glo-Brite, its not an exaggeration. When I moved last year to an apartment pretty literally on the other side of Astoria, I asked Andrew half jokingly if he would still deliver to my new place. "Yeah, of course. No problem." I can't think of any other business owner I've met who goes so far out of his way to take care of his customers. Going anywhere else is a waste of your time. Stick with Andrew and his crew. Glo-brite has helped save my sanity since my first child was born! Hauling kids + laundry to the laundromat is not a battle I want to fight. Andrew offers wonderful service with pickup and delivery, accommodating my schedule with my sleeping/napping children and texting so as not to wake them up. He uses the detergent I ask him to with no extra charge, and hangs up our dress shirts so they don't get wrinkled. I highly recommend! read more

Average laundromat on Ditmars. Very convenient in proximity to my apartment, and often not packed with a lot of people.

First off, the prices at this laundromat can't be beat - I walk by two different laundromats to use this one. But that's not the reason this place deserves more than 5-stars. On Monday night, I accidentally left my college class ring in my fleece when I threw it in the wash. This is hands down one of my prized possessions, and has even more importance since it was a gift from my parents. It fell out when in the dryer, and I never noticed it missing until Tuesday morning, when I just assumed it was somewhere in my apartment other than my usual spot. I didn't begin to look for it until Wednesday night, and when I discovered that it wasn't in my apartment, I was extremely upset because I figured that at this point, it was lost forever. It had been stolen, and I wouldn't see it again. On Thursday, I get a phone call from Andrew, the laundromat's incredible owner. When he was cleaning out the dryers Tuesday morning, he found my ring. He had spent all Tuesday night trying to find me on Facebook with no success, and Wednesday he called my alma mater to try and locate me. After being bounced around on the phone to different departments, he finally was able to get my phone number. He just now delivered my ring to me, and absolutely refused any money that I wanted to give him. He just was happy to see that the ring wasn't lost and that he could return it to me. I cannot thank Andrew enough for having made my week. I have never met an owner who cared more about his customers, and to me, that makes all the difference. read more

Found Glo-Brite on Yelp one week when I just couldn't find a way to be home during my complex's laundry hours. Andrew picked up one morning and dropped off the next day at the same time. This is hands down the BEST laundromat/delivery service in Astoria. I've lived in the area for a year and a half now and have had really bad experiences. I work for a luxury fashion brand so my clothing needs special treatment and most of it can't be dried. Other services have been very careless and not willing to do anything about damages... Andrew, has saved my life and my laundry. I can call Andrew in the morning and have my laundry picked up same day, and returned to me by the same time the following morning. He is the nicest/friendliest guy and works really hard. He's simply GREAT! My laundry is always done exactly how I request it, folded nicely and smells amazing. Andrew is a saint. This past week, unfortunately his vehicle got T-boned en route to deliver my laundry. I thought, give it a week, that's a huge inconvenience to deal with! Within an hour of the accident, he called me back, he could deliver right then. Unfortunately I was already at work, but he was there the next morning, AND refused to take my money. I couldn't believe it. To only be an hour late after getting T-boned?! Incredible. The laundry is always carefully done, neatly folded, smells great, so a big shout-out to whoever washes, dries, and folds too. Between the VERY reasonable prices, laundry done better than I could do myself, and Andrew (who is always very courteous and punctual regardless of car accidents), I can't recommend Glo-Brite enough. If getting T-boned at 7 AM doesn't deter their great service, nothing will. I've worked a lot of customer service jobs. If someone has a problem with Glo-Brite, the problem is the customer, not the laundromat. The next time you need to do your laundry, call Andrew and be impressed. read more

The customer service is fantastic here, and the machines all work well. I was washing clothes there on Monday night, and two days later, I realized I left four pairs of workout pants air drying on a cart. When I called at 8AM on Wednesday morning, Andrew answered, assured me he had them, and advised that I didn't have to rush to get them because he'd have them folded in a bag with my name on them, ready for pickup whenever I could make it over. When I picked them up after work, they were there as he said, and I'm so grateful. He saved me over $100, and made it a stress-free situation. I feel like at anywhere else, my clothes would've been gone by the time I realized I forgot them. If anyone's looking for a seamless laundry experience, use Glo. I'm not sure if the laundry was rushed or what exactly happened but my entire laundry (80%) is covered in black stains. I've been using Glo-Brite's pickup/drop off laundry service since I moved to Astoria about three months ago. Scheduling a pickup/drop off is extremely easy - I love that I can text to set up an appointment and get fast responses; they also keep track of your name and address so you don't have to resend it each time. Delivery is never late, and my laundry always comes back clean and folded more neatly than I ever could fold it myself! They're also fantastic with special requests like line-drying, making sure to hang each item on a separate hanger. I plan on coming back to Glo-Brite for the fast and reasonably-priced service as long as I live in Astoria. read more
