With an impending trip to Dallas this weekend and the fact that I realized my summer tan was completely gone (yikes so pale!) I was in full on search mode for a place to get a spray tan. Yelp led me to Glo and I honestly could not be any happier. It was an outstanding experience all around. I had an appointment with Allison who is seriously so sweet and awesome (not to mention made me feel super comfortable considering you're standing there in the buff). She explained the whole process, which was great because I had never had a custom airbrush tan before and we decided how dark of a tan I wanted. The tan came out beautifully!! The girls that run this business are extremely nice and make you feel very comfortable. Their equipment is state of the art and their tanning solution is unlike anything I've ever used before in a good way. I consider myself to be a bit of an airbrush tanning pro. I've airbrush tanned everywhere from Orange County, Los Angeles, San Francisco, NYC, and a few places in between. Usually when I'm sprayed, most of the tanner comes off during the first shower and sometimes even throughout the week, especially the first few days. This one has actually stuck to my skin and didn't get all over my sheets like it usually does. I was pleasantly surprised! Initially I was worried that they hadn't sprayed me dark enough because I love to be super tan and I'm used to it turning out darker either right away or slowly developing over the course of a few hours. This solution did neither though. I am happy that the color they did spray me didn't wash off. I just wish I had known that it wasn't going to develop that much more and what I saw when they were done was pretty close to how tan I was going to be. I would have liked to be a bit darker. I'm one of those tanorexic (never tan enough) types. I'll need to call and see if that can be worked out. If so I will use their service again. One of the Glo Airbrush Tan girls texted to see how I liked my tan. I told her that I liked it I just wished it had been darker. She didn't text me back after that. Hmmm... Regardless, I would still probably repeat if they can assure me that I will be darker the next time around. read more

I've been against the whole spray-tan look for a long time. I'd seen people come out of those spray-tan booths whilst I crisped away in a tanning bed (I shudder to remember those times), and it always looked so...orange. And streaky. And fake. Well, recently I adopted a new attitude about spray tanning: (1) no wrinkles and (2) no skin cancer. Suddenly, I see it in an entirely new, bright and shiny light. Glo Airbrush Tan works right at my gym, so it was hard to say no when my friend suggested I give airbrush tanning a shot. (I think probably the ghostly white paleness of my skin was becoming offensive to some people.) I've gone twice now and, while I liked the first one, I loved the second one since it was easier for them to tell what color would work best on me. Jaclyn and Kristi are both really professional and fantastic - they clearly care about your satisfaction with their work and also are awesome at finding the best color for you. This is my new favorite spot for tanning since I've cast my spot at the pool aside for someone who'd rather look like a prune. I'm overly sensitive to looking too dark or any shade of orange, so I think it's safe to say these girls know what they're doing, as everyone at work now believes I just got back from a night in Hawaii. read more

I absolutely cannot rave enough about Glo Airbrush Tan! Jaclyn and Allison are spray tan masters! I have gone to them for so many big events... my bachelorette party, my wedding and my honeymoon tans all came from these ladies. The tan is so natural, they do a great job of knowing what you used last time so that you can request the same or lighter or darker based on your needs. These tans are worth every penny! I only wish the tan would last longer because they look so wonderful when they are on (mine usually last for a couple of days before beginning to fade, only about a day or 2 if you're in and out of the pool). Warning: You do look pretty unnaturally dark a few hours after getting it done, so I try to do it in the evening, so that I don't have errands or anything to do after. Once you shower, the color is perfection. On my first trip in, it was raining, and as I left my legs got completely streaked with water. After a quick call over, they squeezed me in later that evening and completely fixed everything so that I could make my trip the next day without zebra legs. I am no spray tan expert, more of a novice really, but Glo is the absolute best!!! It is in a very convenient/ centrally located location at the David Barton gym. (Although their space is more like a big walk-in closet in the gym- bit of a hot box. I hope they open up their own studio soon! But that's neither here nor there.) Parking in the garage across the street is always a breeze when there is no street parking available, and it only costs $1 with validation from the gym. Now for the tan- I see Alison and she is absolutely fantastic! Not only does she do a wonderful job with the tan, she makes me feel super comfortable while I'm there. It feels like I'm just hanging out talking to an old friend, as I'm stripped down half naked/ in my skivvies getting airbrushed. She makes the experience well worth the trip and expense. I always leave feeling so great and beautiful, looking like I've just returned from a week long vacation in Mexico! I just walked out of my first airbrush tan with Kristi and I am so thrilled with the results! I normally tan fairly easily, but with no time to get out in the sun and a fear of blinding others with my paleness, I decided to turn to airbrush tanning. I've airbrush tanned in the past, but this was by far the most comfortable and professional experience I've had. Kristi was able to fit me in last minute on a Friday before the July 4th holiday weekend, which I greatly appreciated. She listened to my thoughts about the color I wanted, and fully explained everything I should do following my tan to ensure the longest lasting results. Luckily, there's a $10 off special for Yelpers, but even at $45 (the normal price), Glo is cheaper than other airbrush places with the same great quality. I will definitely be back! read more

I have been going to Glo for about 5 years now and cannot say enough great things about both Alison and Carson. They make you feel super comfortable while getting sprayed. I've never had an airbrush tan and I've always been super nervous to try it out with the fear of looking unnatural. I have pale/fair skin. Alison took great care me and made my tan look SO natural! I'm a bit of a spray tan connoiseur; I had skin issues ten years ago and have exclusively spray tanned ever since. After years of Mystic-induced streaking, I am so glad the technology has evolved. I've sprayed pretty much everywhere in Chicago (possibly literally everywhere) and Glo is the absolute best. This review actually comes late; I've been going to them exclusively for upwards of six months. A few things set glo apart: 1. Their ability/willingness to customize. We all know spray tans settle differently on different skin, and these girls are dedicated pros who blend a color for you based on what you want. Depending on the weekend, I ask for a light tan or a dark color and Allison switches it up perfectly.2. Quality; The only places that come CLOSE to this even and natural looking of a tan are ortanic and benefit (which I find to be too orange) and both places charge much more ... and are less personalized. It's just the best quality around. 3. Duration! By far the longest lasting spray tan out there. Still looks good more a week later due to the primer they use. 4. Convenience - Incredibly flexible schedule. Allison is often booked up, but still always finds a time to fit me in. You can just tell these ladies really care about their business and their customers. On a personal level, the only "complaint" I ever have is that I am usually doubled over laughing at some point by something allison says, which I guess could potentially risk my spray tan :) I actively look forward to coming into Glo! read more

I can't say enough about Alison and Carson at Glo. So sweet and make you feel so comfortable which is beyond important when getting airbrushed. The quality of the tan is amazing as well - I have extremely dry skin and Alison is always so great about prepping my skin as well as finishing the tan with a moisturizing spray. The Deluxe service is worth paying for if you have dry skin like me! Not only do they have a convenient location, they will come to your house and personally spray you and/or a group of friends with discounts for the more people you have sprayed. Before a wedding I was in, I hosted all of the bridesmaids at my apartment for Alison to spray us. She set up a tent in my kitchen while the rest of us hung out - it was beyond perfect! As a pale white Irish girl, I was a little skeptical to get a "fake" tan, but had to go to a wedding and didn't want to burn anyone's corneas with my pale legs! First, they were extremely professional. Second, the color is SO natural and lasted up to a week (probably would have been longer had I not worked out everyday). No chemicals and it wasn't all streaky. I would absolutely recommend Glo and have already to my friends. I have tried so many different self tanning products (including the mystic @tan salons)....I never once got a "tan" that I was happy with. Either it was orange, or streaky, or both! This will NEVER happen with the Glo Girls!! They are perfectionists (and it shows)! The first time I went was probably 5 months ago. Like most people, it took a lot for me to get over the idea of standing nude in front of a complete stranger. But Kristi & Jaclyn couldn't be any sweeter, & really do a great job making you feel comfortable. (They both have that gift of gab & keep you talking - so you kind of forget that you're naked). They are always willing to answer any questions & offer tips on how to get the most out of your tan. Really disappointed with my tan. I asked for dark and after it fully developed it was maybe 1-2 shades darker than my natural skin tone. After washing it off it was splotchy and like i never even got one. I am on the pale side however i have been spray tanning for 10 years and have always been able to develop a deep tan. Glo Airbrush Tan was nothing short of fantastic! From the second I was greeted until I left, everything was great. If I could give more than five stars for the following I would Customer service- so personable/friendly and professional. I choose to go without anything on during the tan and Alison made me feel comfortable the whole time. Price- extremely reasonable especially for the amazing long lasting tan Ease- you don't need to think, from the instructions they give you to prep yourself before you show up, to telling you where to move and how to stand while they are tanning you, to giving you instructions on what to do after, everything is effortless. I was in and out in about twenty minutes (for the whole process). Make sure to show up with loose clothes to put on after the tan. Also if you need to drive and park, it is $1! In Chicago that is unheard of. Beautiful tan- I am glowing Cleanliness- I have been to places where I think is this place clean, never had to worry about that here. The ladies were very sweet but this was a fail. If you have no skin issues or worries you will probably be fine. I get that this works for a lot of people but not for everyone. I made an appointment online with Alison but got Carson. I communicated a skin issue ahead of time with Alison. This was an appointment for my daughter, a first-time tanner with a bad sunburn on her back and torso who came to even out before prom. Unfortunately the dry sunburnt areas got even tanner, making the difference even more dramatic. The chest area became patchy. It was advised as okay to wash her face that night but water dripped down her arms when washing her face and messed up her arms. The kid was sobbing the day after. I asked for advice and was told she should use bronzer to fix. I emailed a follow up got ghosted. More knowledge about working with different people's skin conditions and how the process works on people differently would be helpful. The test of a business' mettle is what happens when things don't work out as nothing is ever perfect 100% of the time. Blithe assurances that everything would be awesome and lack of concern left me underwhelmed. read more

I have had some bad experiences with airbrushing in my day and Glo is definitely where to go. They have an array of different shades and they definitely know what they are talking about. They pay attention to what you want rather than what they think would look best. We all have our personal opinions but they let you have yours. I had an appointment for 8pm tonight and literally drove to each address on their website (the Southport nd North Ave. locations) - PS- their website has two WRONG addresses. Needless to say, I wasted about an hour of my Friday night, driving around through rush hour, to try to make my appointment and am so disappointed.
