This dentist office consistently runs behind. They are slow and unprofessional. They schedule appointments at 9am and when you arrive the door is locked. The staff strolls in around 9:10am. The dentist is the one who does your cleaning because they are so short staffed all the time! Today after waiting 45 minutes for a cleaning I got up and asked the receptionist how much longer before my cleaning, she stated an hour! I had to get up from my seat to find that out! The office is very old and not super clean, not to mention the building smells like urine. I highly advise NOT coming here! read more

Never had such an experience...charging for an assumed cleaning (touching 2 or 3 areas with a scaler between teeth then polishing LITERALLY---questioning when I was asked to pay was responded "this is cleaning, if you want you can have a deep cleaning...) Without any communication, or my consent, they sat me on that chair and started full mouth XRAY, I had to ask "are you doing XRAY"?.. I did not want full XRAY, reason of my visit was getting 3 crowns or I should say treating 3 teeth for the time being. First 4 XRAYS were without co-pay, full XRAY is $30...So they perform full XRAY without my consent or approval, and charge me for cleaning and full XRAY. Polish was suggested by the doctor when I wanted to leave---My response was "polish without cleaning?" "we can do a cleaning and polish in 5 minutes". So I end up leaving paying for two services I did not ask. read more

The doctors are super nice and explain every procedure and anything that you need to know about your teeth, they spend a long time with each patient which I like a lot, receptionist are also very nice , I like that they have a lot of appointment options to choose from. read more

I consider myself very fortunate to have found this Dental office. The staff is absolutely amazing, I have never had to wait any longer than 5 mins for my appointments and always greeted with a smile. The Dentists are knowledgeable, patient and always take the time to explain the procedures also go out of their way to make sure you are informed and comfortable. I have been to quite a few dentists but they are by far the best! The work is perfect and I feel at ease the moment I step in the door. The doctors are great and the staff are friendly. Cleanings are thorough and the treatment was well explained. Definitely recommend.

I am impressed with the dentists, technicians and staff at this Van Nuys location. They answer all my questions and don't try to upsell me. They have upgraded equipment and have their act together. I really like my dentist, he does a good job and is really nice. Why two stars then, you ask? I'm being generous, only because the dentist service is good. My reason is because the building the dentist is located in is in really poor shape. It has been jenky looking for a long time, but gotten much worse. The elevator has been broken for at least a month, there appears to be zero janitorial maintenance, and the homeless encampments and creeper RV in the parking lot is not appreciated. The last time I went, there was no water for the faucet in the ladies room and the same crumbled paper is in the dirty stairwell patients are forced to use. Some areas of the floors in the dental office need some spot mopping at least. And the waiting room is super shabby. Overall, the experience is gross. And, during COVID especially, is this acceptable? No. No it is not. I hope the dentist practice moves to better space, I hate to drag them by judging their common areas, but there you have it. read more

I had one terrible visit to this office and will never return again. They took X-rays, which was uncomfortable and left me slobbering. The cleaning from the hygienist was short, and didn't seem thorough. But when the dentist came to check my teeth she told me I needed my fillings replaced and that I had cavities. This floored me as I had seen my previous dentist just six months prior with no issues. The dentist didn't clearly explain things, and then abruptly left me saying I would be given the details at the front desk. At the front desk my bill for needing to get the fillings replaced and the cavities taken care of was $400. I was shocked. And the dentist told me I probably needed to change my diet, which was comical to me as I'm a fairly healthy eater. So before I went back to Global Dental, I went to my old dentist, who isn't on an HMO, and paid some extra money for a check up. They took X-rays, in which I didn't slobber everywhere, and then the dentist went over the X-rays with me, checked my teeth, and told me I didn't have a single issue. It's been a year now since I visited Global Dental, and I recently received a call from them saying I needed a cleaning and fillings. They said that me and my son needed to come in. The X-Rays were uncomfortable but I appreciated the thoroughness. The exam seemed like the dentist knew what she was talking about. The cleaning was very cursory, not complete at all. Oh and they used the saliva-sucker non-stop, which I was told later by a friend most places don't even use anymore, let alone non-stop which made the cleaning very uncomfortable. I recently started going to Dr. Oboh from a referral. I was very nervous because of the pandemic and trying someone new after having been with the same dentist for over 15 yrs. To my surprise, I was pleasantly satisfied with their COVID-19 processes of taking temperatures as soon as you enter, sanitizers, masks and social distancing is enforced, and observing how they wipe down the chairs and all equipment between patients, but most importantly the staff was awesome, including Dr. Oboh and her team of dentists. From the xrays of my teeth, the Dr.'s recommendation helped me to cut costs, and I was able to determine the best course based on my budget, and maximizing my dental insurance plan. The service was very quick and I love the way my teeth are looking. I highly recommend Dr. Oboh for your dental needs. read more

This review has been a long time coming. Dr. Oboh is a very nice person but she does not know what she is doing especially when it comes to orthodontics. She is not an orthodontist and I gave her my trust but she certainly let me down and did not refund my money. She grinded my bottom teeth down to fit better which I was told by other orthodontist was a wrong path for her to take. I can never get my teeth back again. I was in her prescribed Invisalign for 2 years and nothing changed. I was in my old retainers after all was said and done which her 2 year prescription did nothing at all. After the 2 years my teeth were worse off than when I started the treatment. She made made me retainers at 3 different attempts after the prescription but they never fit my teeth. So I wore my old one which fit ok. It was all a waste of money and time. I had to go to another orthodontist to fix my teeth. Oboh is not an orthodontist as she claims. Also her front office and organization is very messy. The office workers and assistant are fair at best and not really trained or aware. I wish she would have been honest from the beginning. She comes off very sweet and nice but in the end it's just a let down. And parking is typically difficult. read more

I've had 4 routine visits to this office. These are my experiences: -the front desk is always friendly and nice to deal with -the xrays were really uncomfortable (I have wisdom teeth and a bad gag reflex) and required multiple retakes because the tech missed the area she needed. -the cleaning I got was very cursory and the hygienist only spent 10 or so minutes. -filling work done was incredibly poor. To start with I had to point out the cavity in the xray ("What is this dark spot on my second molar?" "Oh wow great eye!" "...."), secondly it was a pretty deep cavity but that doesn't excuse hard edges and open margins. When I asked if it should feel sharp the answer was "It will smooth out". The filling affected my bite and it "hit" my lower molar before the rest of my teeth, this was after correcting the filling and getting me to bite down on carbon paper. The dentist had a second go at my filling 6 months later and corrected the unbalanced bite surface but I was still left with a sharp edge of enamel. I really don't feel any trust towards the dentist, and the hygienist didn't spend the time necessary because I have an above average mouth. I don't go to this office anymore. read more

I am so grateful to have found this office! The staff and the doctors are superb. From cleanings to dental work, I always know I'm in great hands because every experience has been wonderful. I have had negative past experiences with dentists so I was hesitant and just accepted this discomfort as something that went with dental work. No more !! I've been seeing Dr. Obo for over 2 years now and my view on dentists has turned 180 degrees! I finally decided to get braces, which I had needed since childhood but always feared, as well as veneers. She is a gift to this field and I'm blessed to have found her. Dr. Hill is also superb and has assisted in my dental work. He is always so careful and wonderful! They are the best team I could ask for. Every question, every concern, every worry, they are not only happy and to address but work with me in explaining and educating me. I was referred to this office thru Denta-Cal. 1st off Dr Obo is very friendly and has a super sweet personality. The issue I have is the 2 root canals I have had done there she did not do but had her associate dentist who is a much younger guy who to me seems very inexperienced and makes me uncomfortable having a young dentist perhaps fresh out of dental school working on my teeth. The 1st root canal had to be done twice as the 1st time he did it and the x-ray done I saw him shake his head in a no gesture and sent me back to re-drill and re-fill the again. After this procedure I was in pain for 2 weeks. then comes time for my 2nd root canal which he does on my 2nd tooth needing this done. He gets partially thru this and notifies me that this is beyond his expertise and he needs to stop and I need to come back to have Dr Obo finish this. I have this set for 2 weeks later and never get a call to confirm so I call the day before to confirm and am told Dr Obo looked at the x-rays and says it is beyond her expertise as well and I need to see a specialist. Although they said the specialists do not accept Denta-Cal so I would need to pay. My frustration is I was never in any pain with my 2nd tooth to begin with and have been in constant pain since leaving their office after being worked on. They are only willing to prescribe ibuprofen which does not help the pain and upsets my stomach. I do not know why they never bothered to call me to tell me my appointment was cancelled except they said Dr Obo did not have time to look at the x-rays for 2 weeks so my appointment didn't get cancelled until the last minute. I would tend to think she should have looked at these after her other dentist said he could not do this procedure. So they don't care if I'm in pain and don't care that they don't finish something they started when I was not in pain with this tooth prior to them working on it. Shame on Global Dental for how they treat their patients and lack of care. read more

Worst Dentist I have ever dealt with. If I could give her zero stars I would. Most (not all) of the staff were very unprofessional, including the dentist, Dr. Oboh. The first visit was good. She was very friendly and caring. Unfortunately everything went downhill from there. In May 2015, she did a deep cleaning and fillings for which there were billing issues that I made her aware of 3 times. It wasn't until the third time that she had her secretary call the insurance about it. When August came the issue was still not resolved. In the meantime I was making payments without knowing how much I owed in total, since she never provided an invoice to me, even though I requested one each time I made a payment. I knew I would probably be liable for a good amount so I've been paying toward a balance (I've paid $400 so far) that I don't know the exact extent of. It's now September and she's threating to send me to collections for the remainder of the balance even though I have been making payments and even though she has still not produced an invoice so that I can know exactly how much I owe. During my visit in may she informed me that 3 wisdom teeth needed to be removed (2 on the upper jaw and 1 on the lower jaw). We knew the bottom tooth for sure had a problem, since it's what triggered my visit in the first place, and she said the others could be removed next year, as I didn't have enough insurance coverage to remove all three this year. I had the bottom wisdom tooth extracted in July 2015, from which I'm still having issues because there was nerve damage done. On August 27th, I started experiencing discomfort and pain in one of my upper wisdom teeth. By September 2nd, I was in excruciating pain, I couldn't eat, it hurt to drink, I was swollen, and I couldn't open my mouth more than 20 cm (40 is the norm). Because of all the problems I've had with this dentist, I switched to another dentist who informed me that both of my upper wisdom teeth had cavities, based on the copy of the x-rays taken at Dr. Oboh's office in May 2015. I was told by my new dentist that one of them was really bad. And by now it had taken a turn for the worse. This information was news to me, as Dr. Oboh never mentioned anything about cavities on my upper wisdom teeth. Not only was she negligent in her original diagnosis, she robbed me the opportunity to make an informed decision that could have prevented this, now severe, health condition. Just to note, both I and a friend of mine were referred to Dr. Oboh. Both of us have had very bad experiences at her office. My husband went to her office once as well. Luckily it only took that first visit, which was equally as horrendous as ours, for him to run the other way. I had been holding off on writting this review because my ordeal is not over yet. However, after thinking about it, I felt that if my review could save someone the troubles I've had to deal with, then it's important for the public to be made aware. read more
