We got chicken tikki masala and peneer tiki masala also a side of cheese naan and garlic naan, SO FIRE. I liked the cute decorations and table setting. Very stylish with a super friendly atmosphere, from the minute you walk in the staff makes you feel right at home, very helpful and Knowledgable of their entire menu and have to say this is some of the best service and dining experience we have ever received. The food is outstanding full of flavor and fresh cooked to order with large portions. We ordered Samosas, tandoori chicken, chicken tikka Masala, butter chicken, lamb korma and garlic naan, every dish was delicious, our waiter even came out with a homemade dessert for us to try which was amazing. Delicious! I loved all the food we tried here--chicken korma, chicken biryani, plain naan, mango lassi, and ras malai. My favorite was definitely the chicken korma, it has a wonderful complex flavor and a very palatable level of spice. The mango lassi (a mango drink) was unexpectedly amazing as well. I expected an overly-sweet, fruit concentrate taste, but it tasted just like liquified fresh mangoes and balanced out the spice in the other dishes. Portion sizes are also very large here, and we had plenty of leftovers. I think two people could easily share an entree for a lunch-sized portion, or for a group just get a few entrees and sides and share family-style. As noted by some other reviewers, service was "meh," and I think they were a bit rushed to get us in and out since we came about 30 minutes before close, but in my experience most places have no problem letting you finish your meal a bit after close. Our food came out pretty quickly, which was nice. I did think it was odd that our waters were brought to us room-temperature, but that's not a big deal and they probably would've brought ice if we'd asked. Overall I am a big fan of the food here and I look forward to trying more items on their massive menu. read more

We went to Globe on a Saturday about 12:30. It is a large space, bigger than we expected from the outside, very nice inside. We had the buffet at $12.99 each. It included naan and rice, six entrees, vegetable pakora, onion ponda and payasam. We tried it all, and it was all delicious. The tandoori chicken is on wings and legs, so you can get a little without filling your plate. The chicken tikka masala was more flavorful than I have had in other places. We had never had chicken chettinad or paneer mushroom. The chicken chettinad had full of warm flavors, a little spicy but not too much. The vegetable pakora was packed with veggies and not full of batter. The garlic chicken and gaju gobi were also good. The payasam is warm and sweet, which is great is the small cups they provide rather than a big bowl that would be overwhelming. The water for drinking is self-serve on high-top tables, though we never had a chance to fill our glasses ourselves as the owner came by several times to check on us. He and the hostess both asked if we had any questions about the menu; she was more than willing to help us pronounce "chettinad". They confirmed the entrees will rotate each day, which we were glad to hear. As we are still learning Indian food, we prefer buffets where we can try different dishes and become more familiar with them. Overall very happy and highly recommend giving it a try. read more

This beautiful restaurant with wonderful Indian food is located on Massachusetts Street close to 6th Street.  Parking at that end of downtown can be somewhat difficult.  If you arrive on Sunday when the restaurant opens for dinner at 5 pm, you can park directly in front of the restaurant and need not put money in the meters for parallel parking.  If you arrive later on Sunday or on a different day, it would be easier to park on Vermont in the parallel parking close to 6th St.  Vermont is one way south in that area, so must arrive from 6th St.  There is a parking lot in that area on Vermont, but it is private and not available to the public. Most of the seating in the restaurant is in comfortable booths, although there are a few long tables for large groups.  We chose booth 2 at the front of the restaurant by the window.  At lunch time, there is a buffet set up at the back of the restaurant.  The restaurant has a full bar, including Chateau St. Michel and Kendall Jackson Chardonnay at reasonable prices by the glass or by the bottle.  If you are on a low carb diet, you might have difficulty at this restaurant.  Unlike some other Indian restaurants, this one will not substitute anything for the white basmati rice that comes with all of the entrees.  I asked whether they would substitute whole grain tandoori roti for the rice.  They will not.  They do not have brown basmati rice available.  It would be a healthier choice.  Also they will not substitute vegetables for the rice.  Although their basmati rice is very good, I do not understand why they will not substitute anything else for it.  Most Indian restaurants will at least agree to substitute whole grain tandoori roti for the rice. If it were not for the nearly mandatory white basmati rice with entrees, we would be here more often. The lentil soup is outstanding.  Don't  miss it.  The Medhu Vada appetizer is excellent, but deep fried.  Unfortunately, they do not have any baked Medhu Vada.  We enjoyed it, but will not get it again, since deep fried.  The Tandoori Shrimp is excellent, but a rather small serving, if you skip the rice.  We considered getting the Tandoori Fish, but changed our minds, when we found out that it is not a filet.  It is a whole small fish, including the bones.  We requested medium spice level on everything, and it was fine.  The restaurant is closed on Mondays. We also got the Dal Tadka curry boxed to go for lunch the next day.  It was excellent, and of course supplied with more of the .... white basmati rice.  Next time, we will try the Mutter Mushrooms curry, the Mixed Vegetables Curry, and the Onion Dosa.  The Onion Dosa is a popular south Indian breakfast food, and of course it is made with .... rice. read more

Visiting KU with my daughter. We were excited to find an Indian restaurant near our hotel. I was even happier to find they served South Indian specialties. I ordered dosa and it was quite tasty . Food was Excellent! We had butter chicken and a veg curry (can't remember the name) as well as some tandoori chicken and naan bread of course. Everything tasted fresh and full Of flavor. Easy to get full. The negatives for me on the trip was the water they gave you sits in a pitcher on the counter warm all day. Also the menus are printed on paper and had different items and spelling on different menus. My wife and I did not receive the same menu. Couple items on hers that were nowhere on mine. Looks kind of tacky in my opinion considering the building they're in is BEAUTIFUL. Servers were nice and helpful. Prices for what we got/took home seemed a little steep but that's the world of dining out now so I won't hold that against them too much. I was excited for another Indian restaurant in town, especially one that served dosas. We arrived for dinner and chose our own seats. We ordered two dosas and a panner masala. The food was ok, it had a good flavor of spices but the panner was dry and masala lukewarm. The dosas were good but filling was very small, especially of the potato filling. Service started out good but then I had to ask for my drink four times. Also had a long wait for our naan bread, we basically had finished our meal by the time we got it. We recently visited Globe on our cross-country road trip. We called in advance to check that they were open, and arrived close to their closing time. They happily accommodated us and told us not to rush. Globe offers an extensive menu of authentic Indian food, including South Indian options; a comfortable and spacious dining space; friendly, attentive service and delicious food. To add to the authenticity, a cricket match - sound off - was playing on their large screen TV. Globe delivered some of the best Indian food we've had in the US.
