I went there in October to find some lights, to replace my very old bathroom lights. A salesperson spent all of 10 min with me, pointing me at some lights, and walking away. I had to chase her down to place an order, she seemed very un-motivated to sell lights. I paid for the lights, in full, and left. I didn't hear back from them for a month, so I decided to walk in there and see what was going on. I spoke to the front desk person. I explained that I hadn't heard back from them regarding my lights. She looked puzzled, then started rooting around on her cluttered desk, and said "oh, there is is!", and picked up a package, which had been sitting there for god knows how long. I explained that I paid for 3 lights. She looked disinterested, and told me she would call the supplier the next day and give me a call. Another month past, no phone call, so again I decided to go to the store. The same front desk person was there, and she looked up my order, one of the lights she said had been discontinued, and the other she wasn't sure why it hadn't been shipped. She promised to call them the next day. Another month past, and I returned. She hadn't done anything with my order, so I requested, and was given, a refund. 3 months wasted. The woman at the front counter glared at me and shamed me in front of many people saying "no one has anything like that, they don't even make them anymore!". She was so rude. Great selection of lighting fixtures in many styles ranging from Traditional, Transitional, Glam, Modern and anything in between! While I've seen the sign from I-5, it was a bit challenging figuring out how to get here, but that's what GPS is for! We were there on a Saturday afternoon, I was helping friends select new fixtures for their remodeled living room and office. We had been to other lighting stores and had done a lot of online searches with no luck. Within minutes I pat Globe, we found the perfect wall lights to adorn the huge fireplace, ones that complimented the new dining room chandelier perfectly. As if they were from the same manufacturer. While they didn't have them in stock, the downtown location did so they will have them sent to Lake O store for pick up Monday. Very convenient. We also found the perfect touché light for the office that was both functional and attractive. Plus the price was far better than any we had seen. Our sales lady was super helpful without being pushy. It seems like this location caters more to contractors but that in no way means that Residential customers are slighted. Plenty of parking out front. Masks required, sanitizer provided, social distancing enforced. read more

The Lake Oswego location is staffed with less than knowledgeable or helpful staff. We came in to look for swing arm lamps and were debating between 2 we found there. The salesperson who approached us to assist, Sandy, advised that she didn't think they had any in the store. Huh? We were looking right at one and could tell her about at least 3 more on the floor -- first clue that she is less than knowledgeable. We decided on one, she was going to call about getting a pair into the store and she would call me the next day. Next day came, no call, another day, no call. The third day I called her and she denied even knowing anything about ordering any swing arm lamps. Jeez -- great service?! We declined to shop there any further, not worth the hassle. read more

Given that I have a personal obsession with mid century lighting and illuminated pieces it isn't surprising that I would enjoy this business. Lights of all sorts - from conventional home/office/bathroom lighting to pieces that bordered on art - I was thoroughly impressed with the selection and range of prices. Nightlights, pendants, sconces and chandeliers. Modern, classic, glittery, conversation pieces, and even a clearance room - they have it all. But more than just the goods, the service, helpfulness, lack of pressure and knowledge of their staff was exceptional. At the moment, I'm in a fierce battle to beat the 80s out of my home. And there is no better place to start than the light fixtures. Those bare florescent bulbs and mirrored surfaces backed by brass are just not doing it for me. Since Globe Lighting is one of the larger retailers in the area, it seemed like a good place to start. They have a large selection in the store, although it seems a bit cluttered and overwhelming at times. Fixtures at this location are generally grouped by category. All the bathroom fixtures are along two walls and organized by finish. Although the selection seemed huge, the employees let us know it is still a fraction of what is available. So if you don't see exactly what you want, just ask. I've also been browsing their website which is pretty user friendly and I like the suggestions ('you may also like') when you pull up items. What always takes the longest is negotiating a compromise with your partner when you have different design styles. I'm trying to get Mr. K on board with a contemporary version of a dungeon chandelier. The rating would be higher, but the Clackamas location is a far nicer showroom. Once I discovered that location, my opinion of the Lake Oswego location was diminished. read more

It took me 3 visits before I could make up my mind and Laura, my sales rep was more than patient and knowledgeable. I had been looking for a good recessed lighting solution for a remodel situation where the ceiling drywall was to remain. I had been to Home Depot and a young lady there turned me on to a LED option that mounted to a circular J-box. If I could get it to work is was a great option and very cost effective. Unfortunately HD only had one option for a light to work but it was small and not as bright as we preferred. I tracked down Globe Lightning, went in to the store, spoke with their friendly sales staff who found a solution that was larger and brighter and installed super simple. I wasn't sold on the brightness yet so on their suggestion I purchased one of the lights took it home and installed it. It worked great so I called them back and bought the quantity I needed at a discount over the phone and came back in to pick them up in a couple of days. Everything went great, way easier than trying to buy them online and getting the wrong thing. If your looking for a selection of solutions from someone who will work with you, I recommend them. read more

I love shopping here when I need something unusual in the way of lighting. I like the chance to look at the floor models, touch them, see how they could work. I also like the staff, who have been very helpful with finding solutions that work with the space and needs we have. This most recent time, the woman helping us worked with us to find a great solution for the space for a very low price. (Show me someone who sells me a $25 light because it will do the job I need, instead of leading me to the much more expensive models - I don't think I'd have spotted the one she suggested - well, let's just say I'm grateful! She gave us several choices but I love that she included the cheap-but-functional one. The glass on it was all wrong, but it didn't COME with the glass, that was separate, and she showed us another that would fit it and look great. Sweet!) I will say that I never want to forget to take my sweatshirt off as I enter again, however. I ended up holding my son (as a two-year-old rampaging around a lighting store is not a good idea), so I couldn't easily take it off later...and a store full of lights, mostly on so that you can see what they look like, is hot. Heh. They can also modify pieces if needed (we had one that was intended to be hardwired modified to instead plug into an outlet - win!). read more

I used Globe through my contractor for 2 full houses of lighting so i decided to go back for a new project im doing. I went in with my daughter last week to pick out exterior lights for walls, stairs, post and house but besides the gal at the front desk who said hi and bye, no one else offered assistance or gave us the time of day. We were the only ones in the store so I was surprised no one took their eyes off their computers to ask how they could help. Maybe they only find it worth their time to work with contractors? Just spent over 10 minutes in this store. No greeting from the 3 people at the counter when I entered. Of the 4 clerks only 1 was with a customer when I arrived. No offer of assistance. Another customer entered mid way through my visit and was waited on. I spent many years in retail. Just unacceptable. I've shopped at Globe in Lake Oswego since I've lived in Oregon. I've always had excellent service, paid very reasonable prices and found a wide selection. I've been working with Ann Marie on a commercial interior redesign project. She has been terrific! It's a somewhat complicated lighting project and she has priced out numerous pieces for me, created several proposals for my client and has done so on time, with a great attitude and enormous expertise. Have purchased a number of lighting fixtures here over the years mainly because the selection is outstanding and service always friendly, not "pushy", and professional. Recently had an older pair of lamps that had the glass top of the fixture break during cleaning. Went in to see if they had any recommendations for fixing / replacing the broken globe. Sandy, at the front desk, was outstanding!! She took great interest, took her time, even while answering the phone and handling customers coming in with special orders. She was concerned with helping with my problem, made me feel important while in a busy environment. (Not easy to do) She went through multiple catalogs trying to help and eventually came up with a perfect solution for the problem at a such an economical price I could not believe it. Walked in for a part to complete installation of my chandelier, was told I'd have a hard time finding said part, a ceiling cover plate in brass. The sales associate decided to look in back for me, was gone a good while. She came back and presented me with just what I needed! It would've been so easy for them to just say no dice and turn me away, but they went the extra mile for a very small item. I could've hugged her!
