I received extremely disappointing service at the Manhattan Beach location. I have been a customer of this shop for over 40 years, dating back to when Johnny was an owner, and I had never experienced issues like this in the past. Unfortunately, Globe Tire & Automotive is now under different management, and my recent experience was very concerning. Longtime customers should be aware that the level of care and accountability appears to have changed. Because of the issues I experienced, I would strongly recommend that customers with high-value vehicles document everything carefully. Take photos of your vehicle before and after service, confirm that the technicians have experience with specialized components such as Porsche center-lock wheels and carbon ceramic brakes, and ensure that all work and agreements are put in writing. After being a loyal customer for decades, this situation has been extremely disappointing. My vehicle is a Porsche GT3 equipped with center-lock wheels and carbon ceramic brakes, which require proper handling and experience. Before the work began, I specifically asked whether the technicians were familiar with servicing Porsche center-lock wheels, and John assured me that they were experienced with them. First Service - Tire Replacement The first service was to replace tires that only had approximately 4,000 miles on them. These wheels had never previously been removed from the car. During this service, one of my wheels was damaged. I was told their machines would not mark the wheels, yet a clear ding was present. The shop offered to powder coat the wheel to repair the damage, and I agreed. Unfortunately, the situation became even more frustrating. At one point I was told the wheel had been returned to me, when in fact it had not been. After further investigation, the shop contacted the wheel repair vendor and discovered that the wheel had simply been sitting there and had never been powder coated at all. Despite this, I was repeatedly told the wheel had already been returned. Second Service - Wheel Replacement Approximately one month later, I returned to the shop to install a new set of BBS wheels. During the wheel replacement, the technicians struck my carbon ceramic brake rotor with the wheel during removal, causing damage to the rotor. As you know, Porsche PCCB (carbon ceramic) brake discs cannot be repaired and must be replaced when damaged. The cost to replace the rotor is approximately $18,000-$20,000, while the labor portion of the job is less than $800. Attempted Resolution When I returned to show the damage and discuss the situation with John, the shop's response was extremely disappointing. They offered to pay only the labor portion, while refusing to take responsibility for the damaged rotor itself. This is unacceptable. The damage occurred while the vehicle was in the shop's care, during wheel removal performed by their technicians. Additionally, the shop suggested that the rotor might have been degrading due to normal wear. To address this claim, I had the brake disc professionally inspected and tested by Porsche, and the results confirmed the discs are in excellent condition aside from the impact damage. Requested Resolution I am simply looking for a reasonable and fair resolution for the damage caused to my vehicle while it was being serviced at your shop. After being a loyal customer for over four decades, this experience has been extremely disappointing. I strongly encourage anyone bringing high-value vehicles to ensure that: All work and commitments are documented in writing Photos are taken before and after service Shops have verified experience with specialized components such as center-lock wheels and carbon ceramic brakes I hope we can resolve this matter professionally and fairly. read more

Absolutely terrible experience. Nearly got scammed $2k+. I went for an oil change and tire rotation at Jiffy Lube, where I was informed I had a lug nut that seized, so they couldn't rotate my tires. They recommended that I go to Globe Tire, as it was right down the street. So I went to Globe Tire, explained the situation, and was told they could check it out but it wouldn't be done until Monday (this was on a Saturday). I said okay, all good. On Monday, I get a call from Globe Tires informing me that I need to replace every lug nut on my car, the front passenger wheel hub, the rear break pads + drum + shoes, etc etc. Total quote? $2,200!! I asked for an invoice, which I've attached to this review. One of the random line items is a "Luxury Wheel Alignment" ... I have a 2009 Honda Fit! I was shocked at the price and the amount of things that supposedly needed to be replaced (EVERY single lug nut? The drum?) So, my husband went to Global Tires and asked for the car because he was going to take it to another tire shop. They informed him the car was not drivable and that he'd need a tow truck to move it?!? My car had been completely fine before bringing it in! My husband insisted that he take the car and the guy he talked to said okay it *might* be ok to drive as long as he drove 15mph or less. So my husband drove the car 15 mph to the other tire shop and said it sounded like the front passenger wheel was going to fall off the entire time - which was NOT happening before it was brought to Globe Tires. He showed the invoice to the other tire shop and they checked out everything listed and guess what! They said none of it needed replacing. There was one broken lug nut on the front tire, which they broke off and replaced for free. They said it was obvious the front passenger wheel had been loosened, so after they tightened it up, all was good. Now my car is totally fine. What a joke. I think they were banking on me blindly accepting all the charges they threw at me. Beyond frustrating and unethical. Avoid this place (especially if you're a woman, unfortunately) because they'll try to take advantage of you. read more

Great place to buy tires and have them installed. I've churned through 3 sets of tires from Globe for my 1997 Toyota over the last 2 decades, and they've never given me any trouble. Two reasons to avoid waiting in their waiting room: The last time I was there Globe's anteroom had some kind of bug/vermin/micro-critter infestation in/on/around their chairs and/or carpets (you can't see them, but you will feel them if you sit there long enough). Maybe they've steam-cleaned their carpets since then. Maybe they've replaced their ancient pleather chairs (if their cushions are/were the home base for the bugs) since then. Maybe they've called a professional bug killer since then. It's up to you if you don't want to run the experiment to find out if this is still a problem. Some of their waiting room chairs are facing east; others face north. If you're going to sit in the waiting room (even though you were warned not to), use the north-facing chairs, not the east-facing ones. The later will cook the backs of your head & neck in the afternoon sunshine, because you'll be in the direct path of afternoon sunlight via the glass front-door entrance + (unshaded) surrounding glass windows (some electrically remote-controlled Blackout Roller Shades would be nice). Again, use Globe's waiting room at your own risk. We recommend you drop your car off, agree on what's to be done, go away and take care of other needs/activities, and let them call you when they're done. read more

Called in ahead of time for a wheel alignment. Was there in 10 minutes as I discussed with the guy on the phone. Sat there for about 30 minutes before the manager, John came out and told me my car would be next, but a car that came after me went ahead of me and I mentioned that to him and he said that he had been here all day, but I was told I'd be out of there 45 minutes. I tried to explaining this to him as he walked away from me. He then went and had the alignment guy try to put the sensor on a wheel in the parking lot. I wasn't sure what was going on, so I sat around and watched about 10 minutes later. The guy I talked to you on the phone came out and said I'm sorry we can't align your truck. We don't have the old sensor to fit your tire so I wasted 45 minutes and had to deal with John being rude. It's unfortunate. The old crew is not there any longer. Absolutely one of the most amazing service experiences I have ever had. Yesterday one of my run flats on my X5 was down to 18 PSI. Slow leak and at 3:30PM my go to tire store was closed. Live in El Segundo so looked at Yelp and saw Globe had a great rating. Slowly drove down PCH to see if they could fix it. Saw Firestone first and stopped in and they said can't fix a nail in a run flat. I've had BMW's with run flats for years and yes you can. Got to Globe and was greeted by Alan Fuentes. He said absolutely we can do it in about 35-40 minutes. I was expecting to wait several hours. Done in 30 and Alan said its fixed, here are your keys, have a nice day. I said I have to pay you. He said no its free. What? I've never been a customer and he treated me like a regular. I tried to pay him and he said no. The way most service is today I never, ever expected this kind of great treatment. Globe is now my go to for tires. I'm not suggesting or recommending they will fix your tires for free, but he did for me. Maybe it was a slow Saturday or maybe he thought he could gain a new customer as run flats are expensive. I had a minor tire leak, pretty sure I had a screw ir nail in my tire. I was in the area and a couple of hours to burn before I had to make an appointment so thought I'd get it fixed. I called several places who either were closed due to good Friday, weren't interested in doing a tire patch, or required me to drop off the car there all day (Firestone down the street), I ended up calling Globe who said they'd take care of it. Jimmy Plancarte, the front desk worker told me if there were no issues with the tire, they'd fix it with no charge, in about 45 minutes. Thinking that these guys are for sure going to try to sell me something, and are already doing me a favor in the first place, to make it worth their time offered to get new tires if my tire tread was low & TPMS system that was broken. After sitting in the front office area for maybe 15 minutes, the mechanic who worked on my car, Fred, inspected and patched the tire, reported that my tire tread was good! The TPMS replacements would have taken a bit too long since I had to make my appointment, so I declined and I was on my way without them charging me a cent. I'm not a mechanic, i'm sure I could have been talked into buying something, especially considering the jam I was in. These guys have integrity, and they helped me in a pinch. We needed to replace 4 tires on my dad's Honda Accord. I went to Costco and found out what tires they carried and how much it would be to have them installed and aligned. They had Michelins available in stock, but the less expensive other manufacturers were special order and would take several days to arrive. I love Costco and they usually beat most pricing. However, I called around on a Friday evening, just before closing, and found Globe Tire & Automotive on Sepulveda Blvd in Manhattan Beach. I spoke to a gentleman named Cameron....he was friendly, knowledgeable and was able to match a special 'Buy 3, get 1 Free' that my Honda Dealership was offering, and could have the tires (Uniroyal- made by Michelin) available by 9am the next morning and installed and aligned soon after. The Honda Dealership had a 3-4 hour installation time window, which was an inconvenience. My dad showed up and was extremely well taken care of by Cameron and Alan. They were professional, friendly and offered top- notch service. They had the tires installed and completed the alignment in a short amount of time, as promised, we saved about $275 dollars by choosing Globe Tire! The entire experience, from the initial phone call with Cameron, to the great pricing and professional installation were a great, positive experience. Revising my original review of five stars. Apparently, they changed ownership from Dave, Nadine and the old crew. I brought my wife's Infiniti to be serviced there before a trip to the mountains this summer and they forgot to do the oil change. I had to leave the car there for another 4 to 5 hours, so they could complete the original work. My most recent experience was getting a nail patch on my Range Rover tire. I asked to also rotate tires, which they forgot to do. Had to pick up my car before Thanksgiving, drive it home, drive it back on Friday after Thanksgiving to get my tire rotation. When I drove the car back, all my suspension was out. I hadn't driven the car at all. Another auto shop told me they probably forgot to lock my suspension before lifting my car, which is required for range rovers. More than likely, these guys jacked up my suspension and now it's going to cost me a fortune to get it fixed. It was nice while it lasted, but I won't be using globe ever again. read more
