Absolutely terrible experience. Nearly got scammed $2k+. I went for an oil change and tire rotation at Jiffy Lube, where I was informed I had a lug nut that seized, so they couldn't rotate my tires. They recommended that I go to Globe Tire, as it was right down the street. So I went to Globe Tire, explained the situation, and was told they could check it out but it wouldn't be done until Monday (this was on a Saturday). I said okay, all good. On Monday, I get a call from Globe Tires informing me that I need to replace every lug nut on my car, the front passenger wheel hub, the rear break pads + drum + shoes, etc etc. Total quote? $2,200!! I asked for an invoice, which I've attached to this review. One of the random line items is a "Luxury Wheel Alignment" ... I have a 2009 Honda Fit! I was shocked at the price and the amount of things that supposedly needed to be replaced (EVERY single lug nut? The drum?) So, my husband went to Global Tires and asked for the car because he was going to take it to another tire shop. They informed him the car was not drivable and that he'd need a tow truck to move it?!? My car had been completely fine before bringing it in! My husband insisted that he take the car and the guy he talked to said okay it *might* be ok to drive as long as he drove 15mph or less. So my husband drove the car 15 mph to the other tire shop and said it sounded like the front passenger wheel was going to fall off the entire time - which was NOT happening before it was brought to Globe Tires. He showed the invoice to the other tire shop and they checked out everything listed and guess what! They said none of it needed replacing. There was one broken lug nut on the front tire, which they broke off and replaced for free. They said it was obvious the front passenger wheel had been loosened, so after they tightened it up, all was good. Now my car is totally fine. What a joke. I think they were banking on me blindly accepting all the charges they threw at me. Beyond frustrating and unethical. Avoid this place (especially if you're a woman, unfortunately) because they'll try to take advantage of you.

For about two and a half of those years, I had very few issues and the staff was generally pleasant. Most of the problems have started within the last six months. Six months ago, I went in for an oil change and an alignment. This was a standard service. The first thing they did was try to upsell me on a new battery. I had replaced my battery one month prior. When I asked them to show me the battery readings, they refused. They also tried to upsell me on several fluids and a cabin filter replacement without showing me the condition of my current cabin filter. Before the service even began, I told them very clearly that I did not want to be sold anything and that I only wanted an oil change and an alignment. We went back and forth for five minutes before they finally gave me my keys back. Strike one. The next issue involved a TPMS sensor replacement. They quoted me $185 per sensor and told me over the phone that they would price match any competitor, guaranteeing they are the lowest price out there. I obtained a quote from Big Brand Tires for $103 per sensor. I called Firestone back and explained that I had a printed invoice showing the lower price. They refused to acknowledge that they had made this guarantee and told me the price was not negotiable. Strike two. Yesterday, I called to get a quote for an engine tune up. They put me on hold for twenty minutes. I called back and was told they were very busy, but that if I left my number they would call me back within half an hour that afternoon. I left my number and never received a call. Today, I called again for a quote. The person who answered said he needed to get the service manager and then put me on hold for nearly thirty minutes. Since I was already in El Segundo, I decided to drive to the shop while still on hold because this had become ridiculous. Two minutes before I arrived, the call dropped after sitting on hold for so long. When I walked into the shop, there was a single employee sitting behind the desk with no customers around him. He was not helping anyone and did not appear busy. I told him that I had been left on hold for nearly thirty minutes. He offered no apology and barely acknowledged the issue. He then spent ten minutes putting together an incomplete engine tune up quote that did not include all of the services I would likely need, clearly setting things up to upsell me later. To make matters worse, there was a sign posted in front of the computers that read, "The best experience begins on the phone." Based on my experience over two consecutive days, that statement is laughably ironic. Strike three. They are out. I am no longer willing to give Firestone any more of my money, and I have been their customer for over a decade. The only reason I may return is because I prepaid years ago for a lifetime alignment when I bought my car. If they attempt to upsell me during that visit, I will tell them to stop and give me my keys. If any other shop offers a comparable alignment program, I will never return to Firestone again. For the sake of encouraging better customer service, I strongly recommend that potential customers avoid Firestone, especially the Manhattan Beach location. Getting a car repaired is already an unpleasant experience, and this location seems determined to make it worse rather than better. 2/26 UPDATE JUST FOR KICKS: I was reached out to by the store manager, who offered really nothing more than apologies. No incentives. No reason for me to trust them as a service provider for my car. Although it was a friendly gesture, it didn't really remedy anything. I was basically offered the same thing from the BS "socialcare@bfrc.com" e-mail response to my Yelp review: "we are sorry for the inconvenience." They are really doing a good job of cementing my stance that I will not be using them again.

Pittstop replaced the tire within 30 minutes of me dropping off my car but forgot that I had requested a tire rotation. Upon reminding them that I ordered a tire rotation, they completed that within an hour. As part of their tire rotation service, they filled the air of each tire. Within 30 minutes of driving away, my car detected that the psi (air pressure) for one of my tires was low and decreasing incrementally. I parked my car to attend an event for an hour and assumed that the psi reading was just a system error that would reset once I restarted my car. Upon restarting my car, the psi was lower and at a dangerous level (my car screen had a warning message advising me to park my car). I called Pittstop letting them know about this problem, that I could hear air leaking from one of the tires, and that I'm on my way back to the shop. In the 15-mile ride back to Pittstop, I had to stop at 2 gas stations to fill air in the tire for fear that it would fully deflate as I was driving the road. It was extremely dangerous and unnecessarily stressful. Upon arriving, they inspected the tire and realized that the pin for the tire was broken. I asked one of their mechanics how it was broken and they just said, "it just happens.... who knows?" They didn't accept any responsibility for failing to hear that air was leaking from that tire (which was obvious as soon as you removed the plastic cap) or checking whether the pin was broken or not. These are simple post-repair diagnostics a mechanic should do to protect the safety of their customers. I am extremely disappointed in my experience here -- particularly given how dangerous the situation could have been if I did not have a car that had technology to warn me when air pressure is dangerously low.

Fair enough. I stood there patiently at the front desk for about five minutes, fully visible, and got absolutely no acknowledgment. No glance, no gesture, no wave. Nada. With the clock ticking and closing time creeping, I went back to my car to restart my search; stressed and sitting there with a sagging tire. Then I saw Eric and his coworker out front. They looked friendly, available, and most importantly, present. I walked over, Eric came to take a look, quickly assessed the situation, had me pull the car up, and got straight to work. He handled it quickly, efficiently, and right before closing time. I didn't have cash on me, but this review is the least I could do after he quite literally did the heavy lifting. If it weren't for Eric, this would have been a very different review. Funny how often the people furthest from the front desk are the ones actually carrying the business. Some people hold the title. Some people do the tire lifting. Eric is clearly the latter. So yes, 5 stars for Eric. In this little roadside drama, he was the fix, while others felt more like the nail in the tire, expecting the other three wheels to do all the work. Thank you, Eric, for the hospitality, the efficiency, and for working right up against the clock.
