NOT A SAFE SHOP I placed an order to replace a tire and to do a tire rotation. Pittstop replaced the tire within 30 minutes of me dropping off my car but forgot that I had requested a tire rotation. Upon reminding them that I ordered a tire rotation, they completed that within an hour. As part of their tire rotation service, they filled the air of each tire. Within 30 minutes of driving away, my car detected that the psi (air pressure) for one of my tires was low and decreasing incrementally. I parked my car to attend an event for an hour and assumed that the psi reading was just a system error that would reset once I restarted my car. Upon restarting my car, the psi was lower and at a dangerous level (my car screen had a warning message advising me to park my car). I called Pittstop letting them know about this problem, that I could hear air leaking from one of the tires, and that I'm on my way back to the shop. In the 15-mile ride back to Pittstop, I had to stop at 2 gas stations to fill air in the tire for fear that it would fully deflate as I was driving the road. It was extremely dangerous and unnecessarily stressful. Upon arriving, they inspected the tire and realized that the pin for the tire was broken. I asked one of their mechanics how it was broken and they just said, "it just happens.... who knows?" They didn't accept any responsibility for failing to hear that air was leaking from that tire (which was obvious as soon as you removed the plastic cap) or checking whether the pin was broken or not. These are simple post-repair diagnostics a mechanic should do to protect the safety of their customers. I am extremely disappointed in my experience here -- particularly given how dangerous the situation could have been if I did not have a car that had technology to warn me when air pressure is dangerously low. read more

I also thought there was exhaust leak because I could hear it. Tires went fine but the O2 sensor didn't seem to have been changed (though I was charged for it) and they said there was no exhaust leak. I could here it though. I brought it back a couple of days later because the check engine light came back on. They had it a couple of hours, then I picked it up and on the way home it came on again. It went like that for a few weeks without ever being actually fixed. Then I had to travel and in late December, the clutch went out. The thing is, they had replaced the clutch in January of 2025 and the SUV had only been used for 4000 miles the whole year. Not a lot of miles. They agreed to 'warranty replace' the clutch kit. They hadn't replaced the flywheel previously and so I said I would buy a flywheel and provide it for the service and we split the cost of labor. So I ordered an OEM flywheel which needed some time to deliver. I told them about that and they agreed. Then I get a call a couple of days later (before my flywheel has delivered) that the truck is ready. How can that be? I haven't provided a flywheel yet? They ordered one anyway and put it together with the aftermarket flywheel. I was pretty frustrated and I wanted my truck back so I paid the bill (which was now about $600 more than we had agreed on because of the cost of the flywheel (and I couldn't return the one I had ordered because it was heavy and would cost too much to return). I saved the flywheel I ordered because I figured one day I'd need another clutch again... After receiving the SUV Back though it ran terrible. Like I couldn't believe how bad it was and I didn't trust them to fix it so I took it to another shop to get looked at. They identified that the O2 sensor wasn't replaced, the catalytic converter was in fact leaking (so I had them fix those things at another $1500) and they identified that the reason my SUV was running so rough was because the flywheel was put on 'out of time' and it was causing a timing issue that if not fixed could destroy my engine. I had it towed back to them and had them fix the issue which they were willing to do (begrudgingly). They used the flywheel I had purchased but wouldn't return my money for the flywheel they charged me for that they weren't supposed to buy. So now my truck is fixed but it literally took more than a month to get fixed and they won't return any of my phone calls to get my money for the flywheel and the o2 sensor service back. I had used them for quite a few years in the past but for only small things, oil changes, tires, etc. I would not trust them with anything at this point. When they make a mistake, they might fix it but they will never return your money for bad service. If they had actually damaged my engine, I wonder what would have happened then? Since they aren't returning my calls, I've opened a case with the Bureau of Automotive Repair but that hasn't gone anywhere. I suspect I'll need to go to small claims court to recover any of the money I've spent on their exceedingly poor service. Don't risk it. Find another shop. Most other shops either didn't understand what I was asking for or refused to do it because it's a custom modification, not factory spec. This place is terrible. I've never left a review for anything. Consistently bad. Would not work with me for a wait time. Had to leave car for 2 hours for oil change. They make you leave your number but not allowed to come back. Got my brakes changed. They installed the wrong rotors. Came back for them to machine them and the same problem occurred with two days. When I came back again. Wasting more of my time. They wanted to upcharge me for oem rotors. When they already charged me the same price for the rotors they installed. Not to mention the headache of having to come to them 3 times. Just removed them and did the work myself. Now my brakes are great. Absolutely terrible. Customer service is bad. Fantastic service- in an emergency too!! I had to leave my office before noon to pick up the Mrs. for a medical procedure- had to be at the facility in Santa Monica by 1:15-- so I left early- only to find my care had a flat! So, with no time to waste, and emergency lights flashing, I slowly drove to Pit stop after calling the Mrs. to pick me up there... Brenda was wonderful, verified the tire could be there on Fri. am... all worked out! She was even able to convince my Tire Warranty Company to forgive the lack of pre- approval due to the urgency - and they will honor the replacement cost! Really disappointed with my first experience at Pit Stop tires. Don't think I'll return or recommend. Came in for a brake job, was quoted labor price for my make, year and model truck ( bought breaks from dealership) In returning to pick up the vehicle my labor quote more than doubled. I understand there may have been miss communication in the shop but that's not on me! I would have gone elsewhere. $150 to almost $400!!
