This is my scalp after a hairdresser at Gloria's used a chemical and burned me.

Terrible service by unlicensed women. I went there to get my hair bleached and dyed this past Sunday and was burned severely by the chemicals used on my scalp. The women inside doing hair are the most unprofessional I have ever seen. I had to go to the hospital and now I am forced to take antibiotics four times a day until this goes away. What's worse is that when I brought all of this to the owners attention she repeatedly told me that it was "normal" and that if I wanted to take it to court I could bc nothing would happen and that "no one forced the money out of my wallet". They had no remorse for their actions whatsoever and declined my request for a refund. The dr. Said there is a possibility my hair might fall out. I have reported them to the BBB! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SALON TO ANYONE.

Every time I'm super lazy to do my own hair since it's super long this is where I end up at for a good blow out. I've been coming here since I was a teenager.. Prices haven't changed. Gloria who is the owner is the sweetest Dominican lady ever. The actual salon isn't the most sophisticated hair salon but if you're looking for a quick, good & cheap blow out. This is it! If you're from hudson county most likely you know about this place. Now you do have to be careful who does your hair... A lot of the ladies sometimes can end up burning your hair. I like to come here because since my hair is long they don't charge you extra for the length of your hair like most places do. If you don't speak Spanish I suggest you come with someone who does..just so you can explain how you would like your hair to be done. They usually will ask you if you want your hair up or down meaning the ends. As far as cuts and hair dyes I'm not too sure since I don't dye my hair and get it cut by only one person I trust with cutting my hair. Before they blow out your hair they will wash your hair with a generic shampoo & conditioner but if you'd like you can come with your hair washed already or bring your own shampoo & conditioner which is what I usually do since if I use other shampoos it makes my hair very dry. I do know however whatever brand they use smells really good ! Parking sucks.. Since there's only street parking and on some days you have to make sure you don't park on the side that the street cleaner is passing by..As far as payment most people pay cash since is so cheap.. I think they do accept cards but they have a minimum amount. If you come on the weekends most likely you'll have to wait.. But they will make sure they try to get you in and out as fast as possible. Oh and be prepared to listen to a bunch of Spanish women just talking to each other about everything and anything. So if you don't want to listen to any of that that bring some headphones ..

    Blow outs

Was recommended this place by a friend and was not disappointed. Came in for a blow out, was seated in less than 5 minutes of arriving. Pay upfront and tip after you're done. The women here really know how to blow out hair! No complains thus far, will be returning!

She even helped me figure out what I wanted because I know nothing about hair so she created her own vision for me and it was perfection! She was so nice and obviously a master hair stylist, I've been getting so many compliments on my hair since my appointment with her. I can't recommend Natalia and this salon enough, whether you're in looking for color, a cut, hair treatment or just a change, this is a great place to do it!

I have given this salon several chances over multiple visits because I know finding a salon that…read moreknow how to handle curly hair is challenging, but unfortunately, my experiences have been very inconsistent. For anyone with curly or wavy hair, I would describe the service here as very hit-or-miss when it comes to curly hair. My most recent appointment was especially disappointing. **Haircut** I booked with Michael Bergela, a master stylist, for what was supposed to be a simple trim. Instead, he cut my hair significantly shorter than I requested. This is the shortest my hair has ever been in my life, and I left feeling extremely insecure because short hair is not a look I feel comfortable with. I had clearly expressed that I prefer to keep my length. When I raised my concerns, I was essentially told to go back to the stylist who had previously cut my hair because there was nothing he could do. That response was frustrating considering I had just paid almost $500 and was leaving extremely unhappy with the result. We started with my hair completely wet, which made me nervous, but I tried to trust the process. I asked for my bangs to be blended a little more, and somehow that resulted in a substantial amount of length being removed from the rest of my hair. At the very least, I would have appreciated a warning that this was going to happen. I have seen plenty of people with long hair and bangs, so I still do not understand why so much length needed to be removed. I came in with length that stopped middle of my back and left with shoulder length. **Hair Color** Frank handled my color service. I intentionally wait a long time between appointments to minimize damage, meaning he was working with a significant amount of virgin hair. I explained exactly what I wanted, but after the color was completed and I was sent to be shampooed, Frank left before even seeing the final result or asking whether I was happy with it. I had been in the salon from around 11:00 a.m. until nearly 6:00 p.m., and after all that time, I was disappointed to see noticeable damage and a balayage that looked much thicker and less blended than I had requested. **Styling** Fiona did the initial styling. I have 2C/3A wavy-curly hair, which is not an especially difficult curl pattern to work with. However, my hair was left extremely frizzy with almost no curl definition. It honestly looked like I had rolled out of bed. After spending almost $500, I should not leave feeling like I could have achieved a better result at home. I expressed my concerns to Fiona and specifically pointed out the frizz and lack of curl definition, but she made no effort to correct it and simply LEFT AS WELL. By this point, the salon was nearly empty because most of the stylists had already gone home. It felt like the focus was no longer on providing good service but on getting me out the door. A second person, who I believe may have been an intern or assistant attempted to style my hair. She seemed very nervous, and I genuinely tried to be patient and kind. In fact, I found myself guiding everything how to style wavy/curly hair because I wanted to leave with my hair looking presentable. Michael even handed her a brush that was completely inappropriate for curly hair styling. I really just wanted to take over so I can leave already at this point. I am sharing this experience so that other curly-haired clients can make an informed decision. My most recent appointment left me with hair that was shorter than requested, more damaged than expected, poorly styled, and left me feeling far less confident than when I walked in but the issue wasn't just the hair itself, but how the staff handled my concerns. Instead of anyone taking the time to address my dissatisfaction or attempting to make things right, each person simply left, said there's nothing they can do and to go back to the person that previously cut my hair. I am not the type of person to leave negative reviews but I paid good amount of money and felt very insecure of my hair for days. Hoping I would get used to it but I'm just waiting for my hair to grow back now and doing a lot of hair masks.

I booked "The Works" at Bloom because it had great reviews and was an easy walk from my hotel. For about $100, Jorge put a mask on my hair to smooth it all out, gave me a blowout, and then flatiron curled it. My hair was smooth, curly, and glossy. It looked perfect. One of the first compliments I received when my friend saw me was that he really liked my hair. Jorge came to the rescue. It was well worth the money. The staff was really friendly and the spa modern. I do wish I could add a tip with my card, but I could at least tip him by using Venmo.

White Hart first attracted me because of James. I used to visit James when he was at Sally Hershberger for cuts and keratin, but then when he moved over to a different salon, I stopped going to see him (not because of James, but rather because I found the front desk staff and assistants very rude there and it was impossible to get an appointment). When I heard that James had opened his own salon, I was thrilled. I was able to book an appointment with ease through their easy to use system. White Hart is conveniently located in on 22nd off the A,C,E 23rd street stop. The salon is in the basement but well marked so easy to find and because it isnt right on the street, I found the salon to be quiet - it almost felt a little spa like. Another bonus is that they use R&Co products which I love and unlike some keratin products, the keratin they put on my hair could be washed that same day (although I waited 24 hours). The salon has great sonos speakers and since I was the first appointment of the day, James let me choose the playlist. The best part is that there is a little garden so when I was done with my appointment, I sat outside and finished my coffee and sent some emails. It has been a week and I am very happy with my keratin and cut and have received several compliments. I plan to come back for keratin and also blowouts and cuts.
