Not recommending doing highlights there if you have a fine hair.The minimum they do not going last long also can cause severe breakage from over bleaching. Prices are high and they're always gonna push $45 per application (not a bottle) some kind of conditioner to make your bill even higher plus charging Taxes around $25 on $200 cash bill and getting upset if you refuse that expensive magic $45! potion. In the end my hair colorist recommended to look for other salons after l ask to correct highlights because it was slightly uneven and l assuming because I didn't like to pay $270-$280 bill for few strands. I am happy to follow that recommendation. l don't want to feel uncomfortable like I owe them something for not letting them sale me extra. l don't need that lousy attitude from no one ! read more

Natalia is the BEST!! I was really nervous about trying to highlight my very dark hair, but she was confident she could give me what I wanted, and she did! She even helped me figure out what I wanted because I know nothing about hair so she created her own vision for me and it was perfection! Not to mention the salon itself is very nice, great location, lots of natural light, low music, and excellent service made the whole appointment feel like a treat. She was so nice and obviously a master hair stylist, I've been getting so many compliments on my hair since my appointment with her. She took the time to discuss options with me until we both finally settled on an agreed upon look. She was very meticulous with doing a full head of highlights and the result was amazing. A great experience from beginning to end. I was able to book a same-day appointment for a much needed blowout. I travel extensively and review heavily on yelp reviews, which were all great for the salon. I was not disappointed. The stylist, Nick, was so kind and interesting to talk to, but better yet my hair looked absolutely amazing! He styled it exactly how I asked, and my hair looked beautiful. I walked out on air! I rarely post review on yelp but I must post this one!!! So excited with the result and loved the whole experience! I called in last minute for a hair coloring after lunch, they made it happen for me. I was greeted nicely by Timur, my hair stylist. I was a little bit nervous at the beginning as I always got my hair done at an Asian place especially when it comes to coloring. In my mind it took an Asian to know what an Asian wants, lol. Timur took his time to understand what I want, showed me a few pictures and we landed on a subtle look. Timur was so detail oriented with the process and he made sure everything is done RIGHT. It originally estimated to take 3 hours, but as the process went on, he realized the product took a little longer on my hair to show. I felt like I got shampoo a hundred times (hehe). He always thanked my patience and asked if I need any drinks. He was also taking care of another customer while attending my hair. (Since I called in last minute) I felt exhausted towards the end just sitting down and relaxing, can't imagine how he could handle it doing double duty!! The coloring result is amazing!! Had a really negative experience here in basically every way. They were running half an hour late, did not provide the conditioning treatment which was part of my appointment, and cut off a significant portion of my hair after I asked for a trim. When I called later about it, the receptionist was really rude, saying "I don't know what you expect me to do, I can't make your hair grow back." They've refused to provide a refund, offering only a discount on a future haircut. There are a lot of great salons in that area - definitely best to give this place a miss. Edited to add: the manager has reached out to me asking me to remove the review, offering a free cut, and apologizing, but has not offered me a refund citing their policy. The receptionist has looked up my number and left me a harassing voicemail accusing me of lying about my experience, calling me rude, and demanding that I remove my review. read more

YAN to the rescue! He called me as soon as he saw my review of how unhappy I was with my hair. I shouldn't have waited so long, but I was embarrassed coming back again! He reassured me that I had nothing to be embarrassed about and he would fix it and take the yellow/orange out. My hair has a lot of orange undertones and the technique previously used on me just wasn't for my hair type. He took his time assessing my hair and made me feel comfortable coming back. He added more low lights and highlights and toned it with his "magic" formula. The difference is crazy! It's an ashy color now just like I wanted! We call it "mushroom truffle brown" :P. I have been going to the same person for years now and have been happy with the results. I have always received compliments on my blonde color and people asking where I get my hair done. But my girl only did color and I had to get my hair cut with someone else (typical in NY). I found myself usually blow drying my own hair and leaving the salon with my hair tied back. Great salon. Sean at K&S has been my hair stylist for the last 15 years. I visited him at his new salon (K&S) for the first time this weekend and it was great. The location in the heart of the meatpacking district can't be beat. The salon is clean and attractive. The staff is friendly and attentive and, as always, Sean did a great job. It's also nice that they have a menu of complimentary beverages, including excellent cappuccino, wine, sparkling water, etc. I drove down from the upper east side and easily found parking. It's also easy to reach by subway and I will use the train when I go during the week. Sean is a terrific guy and I wish him best of luck with K&S. Highly recommended!!! read more

I went to K&S based on YELP reviews and the fact that they used GOLDWELL Products. Apparently the salon has been open only 10 months. I was greeted warmly at reception. The salon is a clean well lighted place, nothing special but well thought out. Complimentary drinks including coffee and Wine. Music, that kind of club music that gets sad after an hour of the same sounds. My Stylist was named Katherine she was chosen for me by the woman I spoke to when I made my appointment. There was one warning sign. When I asked who was the best colorist she said everyone there was great. I have found that when salons say everyones skill level is the same it does not necessary lead to greatness. But I plowed on. I could not communicate with Katherine, she seemed to misunderstand every important thing I said. She took my phone which had my formula on it and returned it with hair color stain on the rubber piece. Once the color was applied it was a color I had never seen before. When I said so she said maybe my formula was wrong( been using same one for 7 years) or that the version on my phone was wrong???? huh... One of the women in the shop washed my hair, when I pointed out that there was still soap in my hair she said it was okay, she was about to apply conditioner?????? Later when she applied a color glaze I asked her to make sure to rinse under the back of my head, she made some lame comment, she did not do it. Finally Katherine was going to give me a haircut. This next bit was on me. I should have gotten out of there. What was my perverse reason for staying? I just wanted 1" cut off, just a trim. She told me she liked the style but proceeded to ignore it entirely , cut several inches off my hair and the back which is usually a bit shorter is now a bit longer than the sides...sigh. My hair color was not as orange as the color she applied, but it was a bit drab and mainly mouse brown. The cut was a competent but scrambled version of my usual hairstyle...It can be fixed. So color not good haircut not bad. Price $240... not worth it at all. Oh.. the next morning I found little drops of color staining my white linen nightshirt, permanently...You be the judge. read more

Tara did such a fantastic job on the color, and even added in a glaze (which I'm normally charged extra for at other salons). She blew out my hair and did it all while having lovely conversation.
