I absolutely love GlossNY. This salon is SUPER busy it's very much in demand. Every time I go inside it's like people getting the most done, in & out but it's super busy. This is a very upscale and super clean salon, honestly very boujee. I usually get my haircuts styled n done by Dianne, she really takes the time with my (difficult, cause it has a mind of it's own) hair. The hair washers are really good all of them. During the holiday season they use this peppermint shampoo it smells so amazing I always love going during December. I'd totally say if you can, make your appointment at least the day before, sometimes it's tougher to get the same day (like I said, busy salon). The owner is also super sweet, he's set up a franchise he also runs Bangz in Bellmore which is closer to me, but I love my Dianne and I would gladly come up to Plainview just to see her do her MAGIC on my hair. read more

I went to Donna for the first time recently for hi-lights and a cut. The hi-lights were a little different than I typically get so I was unsure I liked it at first. Bait and switch, lies about pricing. Called today and couldn't get our regular stylist. They suggested another and told me he would be "a little more" for the cut (she's only getting a trim) and they told me it would be $50. After the cut they said it's $65. First they said I always pay 65 (which I don't) then they said oh it's because she's 13 now, then they said oh well we don't know who answered the phone- and refused to honor the price I was quoted. DO NOT GO IF YOU HAVE THICK HAIR. I called to ask how much it would cost for curls and the lady told me $35. I went there and I asked the lady again if it matters what type of curls I want and she told me "no the price will still be $35". Upon being seated across the entrance, I asked the hair dresser if she would be able to get me these types of wavy curls (picture below). She said "yes of course". Upon curling she starts complaining about how thick my hair is. I laugh it off and instead question her on the way she was doing my curls, since they were looking nothing like the picture I showed. She then told me that she can't get it exactly like that and that every hairstylist is different. Something I don't get because the hair style is very common??? Like if you can't do it, just say that. Don't lie and make excuses. After she was done, my hair was so frizz from the amount of spray she put in it. I was so upset but held it in. Then the lady at the front told me that the curls costed $55 since I got these small 4 piece gems. Then she switched up and said it's because my hair is long??? Like this place is awful. Love this place! I followed Amanda from Salon Blue when they merged into Gloss. Everyone is very friendly from the front desk, to the shampoo girl to the other stylists. They use quality products that smell and feel great. I've been seeing Amanda for a few years and she is a very versatile stylist and colorist. She was able to cut a perfect bob for my sister (not everyone can do it right) and also can to cut long and thick hair which can be tricky sometimes. She's given me regular highlights and also a great balayage. I give this place a big thumbs up and will continue to trust Amanda with my hair. read more

I am blown away. Probably near tears with happiness. I haven't gotten my hair done in a whole year due to me getting a chemical burn last October, so to treat myself for my hair finally being healthy I went to a hair salon my friend goes to (NOT GLOSS) and my hair was just not at all what I wanted, also half of it wasn't even done. I was heart broken, crying. I called Gloss when I got home and they told me to come right away and they would make me happy! Now I'm at gloss and I meet Amanda who is THE SWEETEST and you can really see that she cares about my happiness with my hair. Thank god for the front desk and Amanda and the wonderful team at gloss for not only making my hair exactly how I wanted but for also making my day and me happy! Since moving from Florida, it's been difficult for me to find a salon that I love just as much as my last . . . Interestingly enough my other salon was called gloss as well ! LOL ... from walking into the salon everything is beautifully arranged, and clean. The staff is also extremely sweet, and helpful ! I've gotten haircuts from both Jimmy( upstairs ), and Jackie (downstairs ) and they both do beautiful jobs, and are extremely detailed with their work . Debbie, and Alexa have both colored my hair from very dark to very light; it was a process, but it was done without any damage ! Isabella is also amazing with braids, and kids hair styles . She has worked on my daughter for her dance recital and it came out great ! .... I would highly recommend everyone at this salon! read more

So I recently went here, I think they staff are wonderful and friendly. However I do think their pricey was insanely expensive for a job that looks barely noticeable. . Literally no one was able to tell that i got balayage ombré. I even showed them a person whose ago I wanted it like and it looks nothing like that. I couldn't even show them or say something because for $200 I walked out with my hair soaking wet. Yeah for $200 a blow out was not included! Definitely felt that I was better off donating that money than paying for my hair to get done.. I had the same color on my ends growing out from coloring it 2 years before, all you see is the same color about 2-3 inches higher up. The two stars is because everyone was warm and welcoming. But now literally 3 days later- I have to go do my hair somewhere else. read more

I work on the shopping plaza and I thought I would treat myself with a blowout. I made an appointment at gloss and I was not pleased at all. When you walk in they look at you funny like if I was lost and didn't belong there. I told them I had an appointment and they walk me to washing station. The girl who wash my hair was so nice she deserves 5 stars because she was so friendly. She then walked me to the girl who was supposed to do my hair and she just looked annoyed that I was there she barely spoked to me the whole time. And she finished the blowout and was like you want hair spray and just walk away. The blowout wasn't even impressive by the way. I then go to check out and there is two girls at the front and am looking at then like aren't you going to tell me what am going to pay because they just kept staring at me. They check me out and with a big fake bye now have a nice day I walk out feeling very unhappy. You couldn't pay me to go there again. read more

I sent up an appointment for Debbie she's very friendly and nice however I didn't like her technique on doing my hair . I don't know the bleach was on my face and neck and I think I was charged too much for the amount of time she spent on my hair 15 min she was done and gloss . It was not even a full head of highlights I got . Whatver I was recommended but I'm not very sure if I will be coming back . I usually tip but I didn't cuz I didn't like how I paid 165 for half head that didnt professional hair color and she had too much appointment back and forth where she gave me no time smfh read more

Prices aren't cheap: $65 for a haircut plus the cash tip you gotta give them- Services on the other hand, isn't really up to par. I got my haircut with "Jimmy" (old dude with white hair) on Sunday and it was a bit of a disappointment. He chopped off about 4 inches when we settled on 2 inches and then basically gave me choppy layers when i told him i wanted my hair to look fuller. He was also texting during the haircut and was also ordering Chinese food. (I'm Chinese and probably the only Asian to ever visit this establishment) The washer was alright. He asked me if he can get me drink and i said water and the water never came. I also purchased this phone mirror from this Italian lady upfront and handed her a $20 which she wasn't going to give me change for until I had to tell her i gave her a $20. Honestly, I've been to cheaper salons for half the price and have been treated better there! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Went in for a single process and my roots ended up a brownish orange when it should have been blonde. Went back for them to fix it and left with it being a yellow orange. I don't understand how the colorist can look at my hair and say yeah that looks good when everyone else tells me my roots look orange . They are so expensive and not worth it. Now I will have to spend more money get it fixed at another salon. The absolute worst!!!! read more
