Rude on the phone. I was interested to try a Katonah salon, as we enjoy supporting local businesses when we spend our weekends in Katonah. But after the receptionist checked a couple of dates without availability, she went on to curtly state that they will NOT accept any new clients until maybe the end of August 2026. She couldn't mention this initially? What a joke. I'll stick with my usual top NYC salon where I pay 2-3x's $$$ more; they are welcoming and always accommodating. read more

Cannot rave about Louie enough! What a gem, right here in Katonah, and the stylist to numerous celebs. He turned my bird's nest of a hair - limp and lifeless and dull - into this bouncing, beautiful, glamorous cut. It has LIFE! 5 stars all around! From the moment I entered the salon, I was greeted warmly by the receptionist, Jean. She directed me effortlessly to Sabrina's station. This was my first time trying a new salon in 18 years and I was not disappointed. Sabrina is an incredible colorist/stylist. She is also a keen listener and did exactly what I wanted and actually took it further, because my hair turned out better than what I had even envisioned. Huge shoutout to Gloss in Katonah. At 36 weeks pregnant I had a bit of an emergency this morning during my appointment and began to faint then and there in the salon. The staff at Gloss saved the day and took such amazing care of me. I was so embarrassed afterwards and they couldn't have made me feel more comfortable. Not only did I get beautiful color and a great cut (they are geniuses), I also got to meet an awesome group of women. I can't thank them enough. Unprofessional. I was led to this salon by its review in Westchester magazine. I walked-in and asked the receptionist if I may speak to one of the stylist to consult services. After she set me up with Megan, I explained that I was interested in straightening, color and haircut; so she said that I should speak with Andrea. I was offered a cup of tea and said to wait. After waiting patiently for 1 hour as Andrea was working on someone's hair; once she was done - I asked if Andrea was going to attend me. The receptionist said to wait one moment and so I waited another 15 minutes and as I saw Andrea started working on another client I asked again; to which the receptionist responded: "She is running late, can you make an appointment for another time?" . I explained that this should have been said before out of consideration and said thanks. Regret the trip up there. read more

Gloss is an amazing small salon in Katonah. From my first visit two years ago, until today, have walked out feeling as though my hair never looked and felt better. Andrea and Shannon are masters of their craft. A new color was suggested, and I have been receiving compliments ever since! Andrea is considerate and always takes the time to listen and cut my hair perfectly. It should be noted that they use Milbon products for straightenting, Having made the trip to NYC for straightening for years, having Andrea straightening my hair with individualized attention is truly a local luxury. read more

Gloss is a lovely little salon right in the heart of downtown Katonah, across from Kelloggs & Lawrence and a few doors down from Pizza Station. The decor is chic yet inviting (think exposed brick and oversized ornate floor mirrors), and they have some thoughtful touches like coffee and water bottles and candy. But the real draw here is the staff - everyone who works there is incredibly friendly and nice, and they will remember even small details of your life the next time you visit. I've been seeing Karen for my hair and she always does a great job - listens to what I want, makes suggestions, and is nice and quick for a wash/cut/blowdry. The prices are pretty standard for a nice salon in Westchester (somewhat less expensive than the place I used to go to in the city) and they take credit cards. The only drawback is that you have to tip in cash and I NEVER have cash on me... luckily, they don't mind if you have to run down the block to the ATM, but I would much prefer the convenience of being able to put everything on my card. Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend this salon - definitely worth a try! read more
