We'd both heard from others that this was a fun and worthwhile experience, so we entered on this blustery evening looking forward to whatever Lip Lab had in store for us. This soho location was packed on the Saturday night I visited-- a good sign, I thought. Despite trying to make eye contact with any employee working there, we were not acknowledged or helped for a good 10+ minutes before I walked over to someone to ask how we could start our scheduled session. The employee seemed entirely nonplussed and eventually called another person over to help us. This person had the enthusiasm of a damp rag and seemed to not care less to be helping us through the making of our lipstick. We followed the perfunctory steps to choose a shade, a name for our lipstick, the color of the lipstick container, and the typeface we wanted the name of the lipstick to be etched with. I will say I had her redo mine about 4 times until I got a color I was satisfied with, and she didnt seem annoyed by that, which I appreciated. There really wasn't much more to the experience other than making those selections, though I thought the machine to etch the name of our lipstick onto the tube was quite impressive. I suppose for our specific use case, which was to create a shade that doesn't really exist on the market, this experience served up the product we were looking for. I am impressed that they carry blue lotus, blue tansy, and tons of other oils that I've never even heard of before until I came here. I asked about their blends, which they carry a limited selection compared to their pure oils. At first I was a bit disappointed that there weren't more, but honestly? When you smell the pure oils, they are of such high quality that they don't really need to be blended. They are so complex and rich, they can easily be diffused on their own. It's very expensive. Eyewateringly so. But I'm happy to splurge on what seems to be the best of what exists (that is, that's available to consumers like me, not necessarily top-tier perfumers).

(liquid color different more yellow than the clear liquid of the first two bottles i purchased).. The sales girl at the store said it oxidized so she brought me another bottle of the same fragrance and again it was a different color liquid and smell. So she refunded me the money BUT AT A DIFFERENT COST than what I paid online because she said I bought it on sale but I didnt. In my account history it shows I paid full price. Anyway, I wound up buying two last bottles of Fruity Oakmoss, (a perfume that has been discontinued) and she charged me full price for the two bottles and not the membership price. Further, her personality was not as helpful or easy going as I would have liked. Sad for a brand I really used to like.
