After seeing all the positive reviews for Glow by Carey I decided to book an eyebrow wax online. The appointment booking process was easy, though understandably, you do have to put in a credit card / debit card to book. After booking you get close to what felt like million e-mails / texts to confirm or remind you of your appointment. A little annoying. The day of I used mapquest to get to the location. I was instructed to turn off of 5th Ave onto Arlington Ave and then turn left into the parking lot. As I started to turn into the lot I noticed that all of the parking spaces were angled for cars coming the other direction. There was not a one way sign, but essentially the parking lot is set up that way. If you are heading to Glow by Carey I suggest turning onto Fernwood Ave from 5th Ave, then you will be set up for success to pull into the parking lot, and park behind Glow by Carey. Instead I just parked on Arlington Ave and walked through the lot and then into a mini court yard to get there. I waited a very short time for Carey to finish up with her current client. Overall my appointment went great. I asked her to clean up my eyebrows. Really I was looking for any advice or improvement. I think she gave me just that. She ended up tinting my brows which made the outer portion of my brow look a smidge thicker. I appreciated that. I will book my next eyebrow appointment with Carey and we will see in time what her skills can do. read more

I love the small(er) salon experience with a business owner in business for themselves-- none of this pack 'em in, get 'em out pace as with larger salons in this area. Being pampered by one's surroundings is important for waxing and skincare, sure, but Carey includes another key aspect: her personality is so comforting! She's easy to talk to, and (especially for something like waxing), the instant-rapport is invaluable. Besides her speed, friendliness, and overall good-vibes, Carey is also available for appointment when many other salons and services are not! Girls (and guys!) take note: you CAN get a Sunday or Monday appointment! Which is good-- because I Sunday is a great day for less glamorous services such as waxing or a thorough facial (Legally Blonde 2, anyone?). I also really appreciate Carey's passion for her products. She had lots of information on all the products she uses-- including her wax. I definitely got the feeling I was experiencing products that she thoroughly researched and had experience with. None of that mystery-gunk for wax! She used a lovely soy-based type, which is increasingly becoming a demand of mine. I truly felt as though thought and care went into everything Carey did. She even suggested tinting my eyebrows to help minimize some sparse spots on my brows. I just relocated to the Columbus area from Michigan about a month ago and I was a bit nervous about going to someone new for a Brazilian. I consider myself a loyal customer and when I find a place that I like...well I don't change easily. With that being said...There's not much to add that hasn't been said in previous reviews! Carey was very professional but she still made me feel comfortable and relaxed. (As relaxed as you can be during a Brazilian...) Typically I would be in pain for at least one day after getting waxed. Whenever I move to a new city, two of the toughest parts (aside from the unpacking, of course) are finding a new hair dresser and finding a place to get my brows waxed. It took me almost a year of searching around Columbus, and I've tried at least half a dozen salons, but I finally found Carey, and my search is over! I called needing a last-minute appointment, and Carey was able to fit me in the very next day. She's super friendly, and put me at ease before I even stepped inside her treatment room. I love the soy-based product she uses. That, combined with her technique, made for one of the least painful hair removal experiences I've had in a long time. I have pretty sensitive skin, which means I'm usually red for hours after waxing. So, I typically schedule my appointments for evening and hole myself up like a leper the rest of the night. After seeing Carey, my skin was back to normal within about an hour or two and I was out facing the world later that day. Her treatment room is totally private (I am not one to enjoy a brow wax in someone's hairdressing chair out in the middle of a salon), and decorated in a chic, modern way. I visited Carey for a bikini wax in January and was very impressed with her. To give you some background, I have been waxing for over 10 years and have done so in over 50 salons, some of which include high-end fancy shmancy places in NYC & Fairfield County, Connecticut. I consider myself picky about this process which is why I am always going to the next salon to try and find a meticulous and professional person who is good at his/her job. Now that I have moved to Columbus, I was lucky enough to find a great person on my first try and am very happy I don't have to look any further! I have switched back and forth between hard wax and wax with paper strips, I am partial to hard wax, but open to using other kinds. Carey uses wax w/ paper strips which I was hesitant about but decided to go w/ it. She asked me how much I wanted taken off and made sure to ask me what I was expecting from this appointment. It ended up working out well because she almost never had to go over the same area twice, and it was very gentle on my sensitive skin. I should also note that I am allergic to fragrance when it is applied on my skin. I had no negative reaction to the products she used. She didn't re-use any of the sticks or the paper. She had oil to place on the skin after the wax to calm the redness and irritation. She was very meticulous and if she didn't get the hair w/ the wax (which was not common), she would tweeze out every remaining unwanted hair. I hope this review is helpful to those of you who consider yourself picky with the waxing process. She is professional, sanitary, and accurate.
