Love it. Just love it. This is a place I can see as a getaway repeatedly, as there's so many…read moredifferent ways to experience a vacation here. The nature scenery is breathtaking. The wildlife is overall captivating (mosquitoes can be a nuisance depending on when you go). There is an overpriced market and a disappointingly stocked gas station convenience store. You probably want to bring some kind of water filtration or cases of bottled water, as the water from the tap can be rather sulfuric, and that's evident in the water they serve fountain style at restaurants too (my wife could even taste it in her Diet Coke!). All that aside, you can load up at Buc-ee's before you come, as it's on the way, and you can enjoy taking it easy, going for walks...we once found an armadillo on the side of the road! It is touristy and expensive, unless you camp and pack your own food, but the nature and variety of beaches here is compelling! Maybe you'll even spot a turtle? I haven't seen one outside of the sanctuary yet, but I almost might be here at the wrong time of year for it. Will almost certainly be back!

There is not a ton to do either. If you want to waste money on the turtle or dolphins tours because you have never seen them before, do it. The shopping is lackluster and the events are pretty lame. The kicker is they charge $10 per day just to be on this Island. They don't have Pickelball, the service at the restaurants isn't the best. The only thing that is nice, was the house we rented. Our parents rented a smaller version through Parker Kaufman and it was horrible. The furniture stands and the bed sank into the middle. overall we do not recommend anyone from the outside are to come here. driving an extra hour to FL will be more worth your money.

The abandoned Jekyll Island Amphitheater was our last stop before leaving Jekyll over the weekend…read more We got there around 2ish, and there was one other pair exploring the area. To echo the previous review, this place feels so eerie. I've been to several abandoned or run down places in several different countries, in fact, my husband and I purposely seek these out! This one was one of the most creepy ones. It wasn't the fact that there was graffiti or that we went the back way up the hill, dropping us at the top of the stand, it was the energy. It was deeply unsettling. I agree, this is not kid friendly. But if you're into things that make the hairs on the back of your neck stand tall, this place is it.

I'd never have known about the Amphitheater if I hadn't taken my son to the Fire House and talked…read morewith the firefighters about the island. It's right near the fire house, but you'd never have a clue if you didn't get directions to head up the unmarked sandy road into a canopy of trees near the greenhouse nursery store. From there, you see where parking used to be, and the path to the theater is apparent. There are a bunch of azaleas in this wooded area, which were beginning to bloom in early March when I was there. It seemed like a network of a few paths around the area, but I dared not get lost, and headed straight to the theater. It's a bit spooky. I didn't know what I was sensing, animals, lurking humans, or supernatural (or all three). It's not a long walk, but a bit of a walk to the actual amphitheater, past an old ticket stand, and up a hill to the aluminum bleachers. This is NOT child friendly, and may even be a little unsafe. Metal is rusting and falling apart. Spraypaint graffiti decorates a few spots, which is random on Jekyll Island. It looks more like rebel teen artist than any real street cred tags. It was definitely artistic and interesting to me. I wanted to sit a while, but it wasn't safe for my son. There is a body of water behind the stage, and more wooded area. There's a projection/sound booth at the top of the theater. When I first arrived, the door to it was open, a few minutes later it was fully closed. There was no wind. It was VERY weird. I got the heck outta there. Jekyllisland.com actually invites visitors to explore the amphitheater, and has this to say about the place: "The amphitheater, which once hosted Valdosta State University theater performances, among others, closed in 2005. Revitalization of the amphitheater is on the Jekyll Island Authority's planning horizon. Driving north on Stable Road, turn right on the dirt road just past the firehouse, then keep to the right to find a green archway. From there it's a short hike to the amphitheater and pond."

Absolutely a hole in the wall on St.Simons Island, but totally worth it…read more It smelled amazing as we went inside. Seating is a bit tight, but thats ok when the food is so good. We ordered cheesy bread sticks and the sauce tasted like nostalgia and Pizza Hut. We also ordered a deep dish everything pizza that was delicious as heck.

First Id like to say the pizza is very good, however that is not all that makes an experience good…read moreor bad. We made an online order for two pizzas to be charged separately . when we arrived to pick up the pizzas, they rang both orders on the same card and the second order charged for two pizzas. So essentially we paid for three pizzas on one card. We didn't realize this until we got home with our pizza. We called immediatel, but they couldn't find where they had charged our card. What?! so the next day we went there with our receipt and they still didn't understand what we were trying to explain and couldn't find the order on their computer. They wouldn't give us the overcharged amount but instead gave us a card on which they wrote Free large pizza. The overcharge was for the amount of a specialty pizza., $27.--. Tonight we ordered online once more and ordered our 'free' pizza. we ordered a specialty pizza like before. When we picked it up and gave them our free pizza card they said it was only good for a cheese pizza and charged us extra for each of the toppings that were included in the specialty pizza which came to $12.95. So not only did we get overcharged the first time but we got cheated again the second time. Needless to say we won't be back. This is not customer service.
