First Id like to say the pizza is very good, however that is not all that makes an experience good or bad. We made an online order for two pizzas to be charged separately . when we arrived to pick up the pizzas, they rang both orders on the same card and the second order charged for two pizzas. So essentially we paid for three pizzas on one card. We didn't realize this until we got home with our pizza. We called immediatel, but they couldn't find where they had charged our card. What?! so the next day we went there with our receipt and they still didn't understand what we were trying to explain and couldn't find the order on their computer. They wouldn't give us the overcharged amount but instead gave us a card on which they wrote Free large pizza. The overcharge was for the amount of a specialty pizza., $27.--. Tonight we ordered online once more and ordered our 'free' pizza. we ordered a specialty pizza like before. When we picked it up and gave them our free pizza card they said it was only good for a cheese pizza and charged us extra for each of the toppings that were included in the specialty pizza which came to $12.95. So not only did we get overcharged the first time but we got cheated again the second time. Needless to say we won't be back. This is not customer service. read more

Absolutely a hole in the wall on St.Simons Island, but totally worth it. It smelled amazing as we went inside. Seating is a bit tight, but thats ok when the food is so good. We popped into CJs on our last night in SSI and it did not disappoint! The inside was very fun and kitschy which we appreciate and the waiter (did not catch his name) was so nice and helpful! Even made suggestions! We got the bread sticks. Pepperoni dew dish and hand tossed special pizza. We asked for no green peppers and our waiter said he could substitute for anything else. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TERRIBLE! We waited patiently for over an hour for just one pizza, only to finally ask about it and be told it hadn't even been made yet. Meanwhile, they were clearly prioritizing takeout orders, even though we were the only customers sitting there without food!!!!! It honestly felt like our order was completely forgotten. At that point, it would've been better if they had just been honest about it. To make matters worse, we were seated right by the kitchen entrance, and multiple staff members walked past us repeatedly without noticing or checking in. For 38 years, my husband and I have been dining annually at CJ's Italian Restaurant. Their deep-dish pizzas are as close as you can get to Detroit-style pizzas. On March 12, 2026, we ordered a small (4 squares) vegetarian, add pepperoni. It was delicious, just like the first one we had in 1988. This was a take-out order. The restaurant is small, tight tables and quaint....a classic Italian pizzeria. The guys making the pizzas were friendly and obviously good at what they do. Highly recommend! read more

We had heard from a lot of people that CJ's had great pizza so my husband - a huge pizza aficionado- decided we should check it out. It is a very small place and seating to be honest is not optimal. We initially were sitting where people were paying for takeout and leaning over our table so we ended up moving to another table but tables are small and the area is narrow. It was relatively quiet which was nice. We ordered some draft beers which were served immediately. We ordered the margarita pizza. Everyone was right- their pizza was hot and delicious and a good size. Service was excellent. We will definitely be returning to check out some of their other pizzas as well as their food. read more

Stopped in to CJ's on Sunday specifically for pizza since the last time downtown it was a little too crowded. Ordered a glass of wine and a small Greek salad as an appetizer and then a large deep dish Detroit style pizza with half anchovy and half pepperoni. The salad was a good size and it was fresh and had a nice flavor dressing. It came out with three large pieces of freshly baked ciabatta style bread with sauce, which was substantial. The pizza came out perfect. It was nice and crispy on the outside and was light and airy but substantial enough with a good mix of cheese and sauce. Im picky when it comes to pizza but thought the pizza was excellent and will definitely return. Next time I'll come back for a regular hand tossed pizza to try it out. This an eclectic pizza-Italian restaurant in the Village Pier area of St. Simons. My wife & I were greeted by a friendly waitress who seated us and provided our beverages quickly. We ordered a Greek salad with our Deep Dish pizza. As an FYI, you get garlic bread free when you order a salad which is served warm with a side of marinara. Same sauce is used on tomato based pizza's. The sauce is a bit sweet & has a deep flavor! The Greek salad was tasty!! The Deep Dish pie we ordered was The Special. Excellent! Even though a deep dish pie, it wasn't doughy and the ingredients used were fresh and made the experience fun. The flavor reminded us of a pizza place in Gainesville, FL called Leonardo's. There for 2 1/2 hrs. Never got my pizza. Salad was good and service was as well, but if this place is going to fail because of call in and take out. Those of us who go there to dine and tip the cooks and waiters are screwed because of the number of take out and delivery orders. Pizza is delicious! They claim they have a "Detroit" style. I'm a Detroiter and it's good. Customer service is outstanding. I placed an online order my second time there. I arrived and it wasn't ready. 20 minutes later - it was delicious . They called me later that night to make my wait right by refunding some money. I didn't care and was ok, but that showed their great hospitality. I don't normally review, but since they took the time to spread some love, figured I'd do the same. I did not review the order with her, and was not given the salad when I picked up. Once I got home with the pizza, we found it to be a soggy, mushy, undercooked mess. I've been on the island for a while now and this is one of my new favorite spots. It's tiny and seating is awkwardly amazing in the tight quarters. Staff was friendly and quick. Wow, walk in and it smells delicious!! We got seated in the back (it's a tiny narrow restaurant). Food is super tasty! We ordered 3 different pastas, all were well-liked by their eaters!! I had the chicken artichoke, which was tasty, but the sauce was too oily. The bread and marinara they served with it were delightful. I def wanna go back and try the pizza. Amazing food at a steal of a price. Let me start with the "deep dish" pizza. If you are from Michigan you will know this as Detroit style. The buttery crust stole the show but the marinara was legit as well and you could tell it was homemade. A small deep dish with a small salad was more than enough for two people. It took 1 hour and 30 minutes to receive our food. When we did, the pasta dish was so oily and had very little taste. The pizza was again oily with very little taste. Very few apologies were said for the wait, nor was extra bread offered. When we asked, we were told "I'll see." This was our first visit and it was FANTASTIC! The place was slammed, but the wait staff never lost their warm and friendly temperament (which is SO easy to do in that situation). We enjoyed a cold beer while we waited for our magic mushroom pizza. The front of the house was great as they juggled every table being full and dozens of to-go orders. And despite the place being completely full, it was never too loud to easily carry on a conversation comfortably at the table. A group of 6 of us stopped by for dinner and we had a great meal. One person in our group wanted Italian and I noticed their reviews here on yelp. I wouldn't call this place an Italian restaurant, really just a pizza place that has some good pasta dishes. Overall we were extremely pleased with everything. I had the lasagna and it was the most unique version I've ever had. Everyone in our group ordered a pasta dish and they all enjoyed it.
