The store is a bit overpriced but its nothing egregious. The location is beautiful and they make burgers and stuff on weekends which I would like to try as its a beautiful place to just hang out. I got some pretty great Hood River cherries from their store while there, rinsed them with the hose out back and ate them all!

There's something really special about sitting down to a meal under their 500-year-old oak tree, knowing the produce was harvested just hours before you ate it. Chefs Christian and Janelle Ephrem build the menu around whatever's actually ready in the fields that week, and it shows: the food is fresh, seasonal, and clearly made with a lot of care. The long communal tables and family-style service make the whole evening feel relaxed and genuinely joyful rather than fussy. The live music series is just as great. Hearing local and touring artists play outdoors on the farm, with the fields and that huge old oak as the backdrop, is a totally different concert experience than anything you'll get in the city. It's laid-back, beautiful, and makes for a really memorable summer evening. Beyond the dinners and shows, it's clear that there's an incredible amount of love that goes into Topaz: it's a genuinely regenerative, no-spray family farm, with happy animals and welcoming people. Whether you're going for a dinner, a show, or just an afternoon wandering the grounds, Topaz Farm delivers something you won't find anywhere else near Portland. Highly recommend.

I like this years strawberry fields location being just past the NEW baby Brahman cow. He's soooo cute! The berries are sooooooo good!!!! The Gift Shop has some cool new treats. The dips and beer breads look good. Fun to look at the biggest selections of salt and pepper shakers anywhere around. Oh the signs keep us laughing while we shop. The Patio Cafe' and Coffee cart are a must too! You can't go wrong with anything you order. My go to is the Turkey Panini but the Whole Farm burger is a fav of my family too. The farm is a wonderful place for families to spend a few hours together. The only downside was that the patio café is only open on weekends, so we missed out on trying it. Many times I've seen it and many times I've avoided it. But now I regret not checking it out the first time they opened up a few years ago. Here's a few tips and details: * Parking * Most folks park in the New Seasons parking lot, or down the residential streets. The times I've been here, the lot has never been full. So I've never had any issue finding parking. * Favorite Vendors * ~ The Pie Guy - out of North Plains. If you yelp that, you'll see why he's different. Love their variety of pies. ~ Pilgrim's Roasted Nut'z - Another North Plains favorite! You can literally go nuts buying more than one bag. ~ Kookido - UGH, mochi-filled cookies! I'm a mochi lover and chewy soft cookie kind of guy. These are heaven in a container! ~ Pablo Munoz Fruits - I'm all about their peaches and berries! ~ Martinez Family Farms - Come here early for these guys. They always have a long line to pay. ~ Favorite Produce - I dig their fresh flower bouquets. ~ Helvetia Vineyards & Winery - Another local wine favorite. Try a sample! ~ Baird Family Orchards - mmm mmm, gotta love them peaches! Especially their Sweet Sue yellow peaches. ~ Our Little Farm and Nursery - Haven't bought anything from these guys, but they're the ones that freshly roast peppers. People love'em! ~ Slow Rise Bakehouse - Located out of Forest Grove. Check out my ROTD for them ;) ~ Thompson Farms - The "pear guy"! He's picking bosc pears soon. I cannot wait! ~ Papa's Sunflower Seeds - Flavored roasted sunflower and pumpkin seeds. These are the guys that do team fundraising. ~ Ochoas Catering & Events - Necessito burrito! They wrap up fat burritos (and more) and their salsas are simply el mejor! For the most part, if it's a hot summer day, the market can close a bit early due to excessive heat. I've yet to go here on a rainy day. But in closing for my next visit, I'm trying the pasta lady, the hot sauce guy, and the fresh mini donuts. Oh and the mouthful momo stand. Support your locals folks!

It's a good opportunity to support local and small. Parking wasn't an issue as there is desinated parking areas in apartment lots in front of the market. My favorite part was the local food vendors! We grabbed momos (delicious), tacos (best tacos in Oregon in my opinion), and hummus. HIGHLIGHT OF MY WEEKEND! S/O to Ochoa Catering and Events and Hummus Spot for putting my partner and I in our taco and hummus era. The service from these vendors were great and it was fun chatting about how their business started. Orenco Station - Hillsboro market is laid back and a good break from the hustle and bustle of city life. We will be back!

We found out about this hidden chestnut orchard on the last weekend of the season! I emailed the…read moreorchard to confirm their hours of operation for U-pick (since it was the final weekend and rain was in the forecast). I received a quick response from Andrew Robello, the owner, he confirmed they are open, rain or shine! I was so excited to take my mom on this adventure! Next day, we arrived bright and early. We were greeted by Andrew's mom at the bucket station, she was such a sweetheart. Such a nice family! As we ventured into the chestnut grove, more families arrived. This is a fun outing for the whole family. Just keep an eye on the kids. Bring kitchen tongs or thick garden gloves to pick up the chestnuts. If you've never seen the needles of chestnuts, you're in for a prickly surprise! Be careful and get ready for a fun scavenger hunt! You can easily fill your bucket within half an hour! This can be good or bad. Good because you know what you're doing and you arrived at the perfect time to collect fresh dropped nuts. Bad- because you're picking up any nuts you find and not checking for signs of rot. Since you're buying per pound, I recommend you do a quick squeeze and eye inspection for insect holes. If you hear or feel air from the squeeze, it's not fresh or about to rot. If you want to keep your chestnuts for several weeks, it's best to find the freshest nuts. Confession time....we spent nearly 2 hours leisurely enjoying the hunt. As we realized how much time has passed, we stumbled up an area scattered with fresh jumbo nuts! Holy moly! Guess what we did.... We dumped our bounty and filled our bucket with the fresh jumbo nuts! We kept some of the best looking smaller nuts. We had fresh chestnuts for over a month and shared it with friends and neighbors. Since this review is so so late, I can't remember the exact cost and weight. I do remember they gave us a nice season end discount. They are so sweet! Regardless, the time I shared with my mom scavenging the chestnut groove is a priceless memory I'll always have. Thank you for helping us create new memories, Robello family! See you in 2025 season!

No Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's Day dinner can be complete without chestnuts. The best…read moreI've found in Portland come from Cascadia Chestnuts' stand at the Saturday Portland Farmers Market at PSU. Cascadia Chestnuts is a certified organic orchard growing select French and Italian "marrone type" chestnut cultivars. If you've been to Italy during the holday season and bought a bag of chestnuts from a grizzled vendor roasting them over a grill, they were likely called "marroni." The ones Cascadia grows and offers are the real deal. My Sicilian family would roast chestnuts in the oven on a cookie sheet, after first giving the shells a small slice so they wouldn't burst, and then snack on them after the dinner was finished. We had a tradition on New Year's Day involving the first roasted chestnut we selected. If it was good and peeled easily, your coming year would go well. If it was difficult to peel, expect difficulties. If it was partly rotten or even thoroughly rotten, well, you can figure out the rest. Delicious, quality chestnuts, locally grown. And no bad ones in the bunch.
