We came out for the Allen Stone/The Dip concert, and it was our first experience at Topaz Farm. We had such a wonderful evening! The staff were incredibly friendly, the setting was beautiful and we loved all the wildflowers and sunflowers around the farm. It was a pretty hot day, so the lounge pass was definitely worth it. Also for closer bathrooms and drinks. I also really appreciated how the event staff went above and beyond to help me resolve a ticketing issue. They were kind, helpful, and made sure everything worked out. We really loved what Topaz Farm is all about and the whole atmosphere of the place. We'll definitely be back for more events and we're looking forward to checking out their meats and produce too. I highly recommend catching a show out here, you can tell a lot of care goes into creating a great experience. read more

The area itself is beautiful and there are a few other farms nearby on Sauvie Island that are definitely worth checking out too while already out there. The store is a bit overpriced but its nothing egregious. The location is beautiful and they make burgers and stuff on weekends which I would like to try as its a beautiful place to just hang out. I got some pretty great Hood River cherries from their store while there, rinsed them with the hose out back and ate them all! read more

Topaz Farm has become one of our favorite reasons to make the trip out to Sauvie Island, especially for their Farm to Plate dinners and live music evenings. There's something really special about sitting down to a meal under their 500-year-old oak tree, knowing the produce was harvested just hours before you ate it. Chefs Christian and Janelle Ephrem build the menu around whatever's actually ready in the fields that week, and it shows: the food is fresh, seasonal, and clearly made with a lot of care. The long communal tables and family-style service make the whole evening feel relaxed and genuinely joyful rather than fussy. The live music series is just as great. Hearing local and touring artists play outdoors on the farm, with the fields and that huge old oak as the backdrop, is a totally different concert experience than anything you'll get in the city. It's laid-back, beautiful, and makes for a really memorable summer evening. Beyond the dinners and shows, it's clear that there's an incredible amount of love that goes into Topaz: it's a genuinely regenerative, no-spray family farm, with happy animals and welcoming people. Lots of parking and not too far into the island! The butterfly maze was our absolute favorite, but we enjoyed the whole farm experience for less than $40 and that was mostly on food and drinks and a few farms crops. Picking our own tomato for fried green tomatoes we were planning was a great family experience. Played at the duck races, walked the grounds, had lunch then did the sunflower field and butterflies maze ending with their farm pops, I loved the marionberry most. My partner and I went here to get our pumpkins for carving. They are the first pumpkin farm we saw on Sauvie's, and I think they must know that because there is a $15 fee (per person, NOT per car) to enter the farm. I think that entrance also grants you access to a bunch of other activities (corn maze? Seeing the farm animals?) but we came just for the pumpkins. The pumpkin patch itself was good-- there were lots of varietals and we had fun squelching around with our big carts. Pumpkins were 50% off when we came, and two fairly large orange pumpkins, a ghost pumpkin, and a mini came out to ~$20. That wouldn't be bad for just the pumpkins, but because of the entrance fee it felt a little steep. The highlight of our trip was actually the duck they have in the animal section. He was huge! I had a good laugh at the duck, and it was a lot of fun to watch him waddle around. There a plenty of clean porta potties, lots of parking, and the staff were friendly. That said, I would not recommend this place if you are just looking to pick pumpkins. It was not a bad experience, but you can get better bang for your buck elsewhere. read more

We randomly decided to go to Topaz Farm one Sunday morning to pick some berries and we were happily surprised with so many things to do here! My personal favorite was picking cucumbers. I've been to a lot of u-pick farms, but this was the first time I got to pick cucumbers. At the time of the year that we went, they also had u-pick sunflowers, but it was towards the end of the season so we didn't get any. Other than u-pick stuff, they have farm animals and a little train ride which are both so fun for kids (and adults, too!) The train ride costs $5 per person and is worth the cost in my opinion. They also have a restaurant on site as well as a store where you can purchase various produce. I'll definitely be back here! read more

Came here for the upick sunflowers. Nice huge area of sunflowers, all the same and they were relatively the same height too. They didn't have any other colors than the regulars, but still great to walk through. Lots of bees, but I didn't mind, they just wanted the sunflowers. Cool area to walk through, and it's a bit of a walk from the check-in to make sure people aren't cutting through and paying. We paid ahead of time for 12 stems and it was so hard to decide. $5 admission, and the $1 a stem. We brought our own shears and buckets, but they do provide shears. They have an eating place with burgers and sandwiches, drinks like lemonades and root beer floats and even beers. The staff is young and should not be in the positions they are in. It's a highly disorganized high school assembly. Going to a concert here was an absolute clown show and we were only here because we enjoyed the band and it would be a great parents night out. It was terrible. Waste of money. I purchased tickets for the Buffalo Traffic Jam concert several months in advance as part of an anniversary gift for my wife. As we were in route, about 1.5 hours before the concert start time, I received an email saying my tickets could not be delivered by the venue. My guess is they oversold the show and mismanaged the volume. This is inexcusable for as far in advance I bought them. We took part in one of the Saturday night summer dinners that are $275/couple + optional wine, etc. Glad we went and here are the pros/cons we'd tell a friend who asks and wants details vs. a quick yes or no: Pros: Beautiful, rustic setting. You drive 30 minutes north of downtown Portland, park on the field and walk over to their iconic 400-yr old tree for dinner under which tables are set up for 180 guests, handed a drink as you stand in the check-in line, that opens an hour before dinner. It's next to a vast field of tall sunflowers in full bloom with a nice winding trail through them to the air conditioned bathroom trailer. Friendly, attentive service. Staff all seemed happy to be there, could answer people's questions and were moving fast to bring out all the family style courses, keep the mason glasses of water topped off, etc. Communal joy. Part of the fun with such events is the randomness of who you end up next to via the assigned seating at the long tables. So it you're going as a twosome it helps a lot if you're an extrovert or have brought one with you to sit across from you and make small talk with strangers for three hours. The crowd was a nice variety of groupings, from the group of 10 tan ladies arriving together in sun dresses, to the young pregnant couples, to retired couples. Helping a small business. Whatever weirdness the state government had recently proposed that had local farmers crying in social media videos now viewed millions of times had recently and swiftly been resolved thanks to surge of support so we could all feel good about that and it put a celebratory vibe in the air. Cons: The experience is not worth the steep price. For a few reasons: This was the once-a-summer Vegetarian menu, with the courses being Hermiston melon w/ arugula, broccolini with croutons, summer squash w/ blackberries and tzatziki, risotto with cherry tomatoes and mascarpone, and angel food cake with side of diced peaches and slivered almonds. Nice re: seasonal and we're guessing much of it grown nearby (nothing was said either way about that) but given that it was lacking flavor, served at room temp, and courses without, say, the preciousness and market rates of roasted lamb or fresh seafood, one might feel a bit cheated. At similar farm-to-table outdoor events elsewhere, there's typically two aspects from the hosts that were lacking here -- Nice 1:1 interaction with the hosts throughout the time and some scene-setting/storytelling from them. In this case, the couple checked people in at arrival on the clipboard and then an hour later welcomed everyone and intro'd the chef, but then spent most of the dinner seated at the end of one of the rows (other places the hosts usually do a bit of table to table to say hello, answer questions, note which things they harvested are on the menu tonight, etc.) Noticed they in their nice matching cowboy hats did stand and talk to some seated diners before dessert but it was focused on on group, not working their way through, which would have been a nice touch, and would have loved to talk with them, to find out how long they've had this farm, how often or rarely they do this event, where do all these dishes get washed, etc. Net: If you go, think of like when you go to a revolving restaurant -- you're splurging for the beautiful view and unique experience, not necc. a memorable meal or something you'll rush to repeat. read more

Was there in the middle of the week and was underwhelmed with the pumpkin selection and thought the prices high. The pumpkin patch prices were the same and the selection scant. Possibly being closer to Halloween things were bought out? Bought two apple cider doughnuts $2.50 each. They were served cold and were skimpy. Also bought a caramel apple $6.00. They should have placed them on wax or parchment paper but used regular food paper instead and thus the paper was stuck and impossible to remove without cutting off. Everything went right with this event, even the weather which is out of anyone's control. This was a warm summer evening and had outdoor wedding vibes. Everyone was happy, looking their best and we were all seated underneath a beautiful and needed tree that offered the necessary shade. The owners and chef open with background, your served family style with your table which comprises six. I did share a pic of the dessert which is the one plated course. My friend and I enjoyed meeting others were we sitting next to and all the dishes. While we both aren't the biggest fans of lamb and tried smaller portion of that course, the other course portion sizes were solid and we were full at the end of the evening. My favorite was the potato salad. While the price point felt a bit high when booking in April having never been, my friend and I felt it was a worth it in terms of fresh food, good portions and an overall fun evening. Went today for the fall harvest festival having never been to this farm on Sauvie island before. Came on a recommendation from a friend. While you do have to pre-buy tickets, my husband and I both found that to be helping to aid a really great experience. Because of this, the place wasn't totally crowded. It was easy to get in, to park and to wander around without masses of people. The grounds are beautiful! All of the different farm animals are fun to go visit. The farm store, is incredible! Their branded merchandise is high-quality, comfortable and even PNW stylish. Even if you don't do the hayride or any of the you pick, there's plenty of pumpkins and other things in the main area. Plus big, beautiful, bushy mums for $10! Will definitely return for summer--the farm to table dinners sound incredible and the area for live music looks epic to see a show. read more

Our first time visiting was for one of their summer concert series and it was one of the best concert experiences we've ever had. The music was great, but it was the charm of the venue and the friendliness of the staff that put it in the top. Also, where else can you step away from a concert to use the restroom and wind up spending 10 minutes petting a baby goat? We've been back several times since just to take in the space, have a beer and a delicious burger from the grill. The staff is always great. The food is great. I especially appreciate that they've moved to a paid ticketing model for their fall weekend season so you don't have to fight through the crazy crowds of similar spaces. You get a calm, open experience with you and your loved ones for a very reasonable price. SO worth it! read more

I'm so torn! This farm is where I got hitched to my spouse when it was Kruger. Topaz has done some really lovely things, they clearly have great ideas. We did have a beautiful fall day out there at the beginning of the month. But...their pumpkin patch this year was super super disappointing, as others have pointed out, and we just picked basically the first pumpkins we saw because they were all basically the same boring thing. I was happy the place wasn't overrun, but also frustrated with paying a cover price that didn't really cover much. The sunflowers were only free to pick because of the storm, so even that wasn't really part of the price. When it was Kruger, you paid for tickets that covered pumpkins, hayride, corn maze, roasted corn, caramel apples...it was a great system. I was also bummed that "our" tree was fenced off and we couldn't go pay homage to where we had our special day 6 years ago. read more

What a cute place! Visited today to pick up our Thanksgiving meal so we could support local for the holidays. While tomorrow will determine how tasty our Thanksgiving kit is, the market itself is cute with tons of local goodies. I was there to pickup my meal kit but immediately grabbed some of the local farm eggs for two dollars a dozen, some grass fed and corn finished ground beef, a few handfuls of hazelnuts, some sparkling wine, rogue cheeses, and a small serving of tasty mint chip ice cream. They even found me a spoon so I could eat my ice cream on the drive back. The staff were all super helpful and friendly. I had questions on the produce and they were all attentive to get my answers instead of just saying they didn't know. I also grabbed some of the drinking vinegars and am excited to come back just for cheese, eggs, beef and ice cream haha. Sidenote: please don't be the person that tries bringing your dog into a business. I read the review about the dog and that is silly to put everyone in a place of business at risk and then act like it's their fault for enforcing their policies. Topaz Farms, previously Krugers" is a lovely farm / market on Sauvignon Island. They have a massive lawn with dozens of tables spaced far apart so you can picnic safely while still enjoying wonderful views. The large market has a large variety of fresh, seasonal produce at very fair prices. Yesterday I purchased some apples, potatoes, sweet onions, fresh corn (delicious!) sweet and peppers. I'll be back for the amazing brussel sprouts. The pantry area is filled with lots of delicious local products: honey, Portland Ketchup, hazelnuts, toffee, McTavish cookies, bBQ sauces, wine and more. And of course they have caramel apples and apple cider doughnuts, a must for any visit in the Fall! The doughnuts were $2 and at first I thought a bit expensive, but they were very dense and flavorful, one definite filling and hit the spot. Coffee, beer, cider and other non alcoholic drinks are available. And for those who love animals, they have a barn with adorable animals you can pet. Great for the little kids and adults, too. Depending on the time of year, you can pick flowers or berries. In the fall, there are hayrides to the pumpkin field. Don't worry about getting your boots muddy, they have a boot washing and pumpkin washing station by the proper bathrooms, yes, proper bathrooms! That alone gets 5 stars from me! If you would rather select pumpkins that have already been picked, in front of the Market are huge bins of gourds and pumpkins in traditional orange, yellow, white, blush and even a light sage blue color. In my days, pumpkins were just orange! Love the variety. If you are seeking a huge pumpkin patch and lots of people, then The Pumpkin Patch just down the road may be more your style. A great farm on the sauvie island. It has a big store with plenty of fresh seasonal produce, sweet and savory pies, snacks to munch on and hot and cold drinks. Some weeknights and weekends, they have the grill on and plenty of hot food options too. Really big grounds, with a lot of picnic benches, a bunch of cute animals to pet too. When we were there, they had u-cut flowers event going on. But depending on time of year, you can also pick different type of berries. Yes, Topaz Farm is a lovely Sauvie Island destination for their farmstand, u-pick options and miniature animals, BUT if you have the opportunity, I highly recommend attending one of their summer concerts. What a stunning atmosphere in which to sit out and listen to music!! It's like a natural amphitheater! The stage is set up under their ENORMOUS oak tree, and guests can simply spread out a blanket on the lawn and enjoy. No need to bring anything else. Food and beverage stands provide all the provisions you could need -- beer, wine, cider, water, grilled sausages and boxed meals. All you have to do is relax and enjoy the music. We weren't familiar with the bands that were playing that evening -- Horse Feathers acoustic and The Hackles -- but they were fantastic! Which was a bonus because the setting itself is so lovely that it almost doesn't matter what the music is. During these uncertain times, they are taking every precaution and limiting the number of guests per performance, and as a result, most of the summer shows are already sold out, but make a point to go when you can. I have tried for multiple days to book tickets with a great deal of difficulty. I wanted to go 10/18 - they are open on Fridays (?) - but they have nothing available and no explanation why. If you have questions they do not answer their phone so you send an email. Not a place I want to give my money. Got an email reply to this review. Alena C. said their front page shows they're closed on Fridays. No, it says "Limited Activities", doesn't mean a whole lot to me. But, to translate, in Topaz Farms speak it means CLOSED. Alena C. did not address my problem with finding ticket purchasing or having not phones available for question. I guess they don' t want to admit what failures those two issues are for their website. Went on another farm's website. FIRST thing that drew my eye was link TICKETS, as should be. Within 5 minutes I had looked over the website and purchased tickets for THIS FRIDAY, my first choice. I was so stupid to spend so much time trying to purchase tickets from Topaz Farms website. I grew up on a tobacco/diary farm in Kentucky. I was treated terribly here when I tried to come in with my service dog (who was in a sling around my body). My dog was quiet and peaceful, as was I. I have a psychiatric service dog for PTSD, GAD, and MDD. My dog knows when I am having an episode and is able to grab my attention and redirect my mind and body into a more functional, adaptive place. He presses his body against mine and knows how to initiate eye contact and connection in times of need. They kept asking me what service my dog performed which made me freeze up and very frightened. For my case, there is no way to describe the service my dog performs without describing my disability, which I did not feel safe to do here because of the way I was being approached, treated, and judged by the staff. I felt vulnerable, small, misunderstood, and attacked. Many (not all) staff members were rude and in disbelief that my dog was a service dog. I was shaking and really upset and my anxiety went through the roof. I could barely speak and I had a meltdown and my dog was not able to perform their usual psychiatric service because of the aggression we both were sensing from the staff. One staff member, the first who approached me, was so unkind that it felt like she wanted to physically fight me. She threatened me and stormed off to seek the manager. I carry my service dog papers in my wallet but have never had to show them in public. It wasn't until I showed my papers that anyone believed me. I shouldn't have to show them to be believed. The sign at the front says "NO PETS." It says nothing about service dogs. Service dogs are not pets. It is illegal to not allow service dogs. I felt extremely unsafe and violated and I will never return. There was a moment when 4 different employees surrounded me. This was extremely triggering and frightening. This is not a safe place for people with psychiatric service dogs. I felt accosted by at least 4 employees when I just wanted to quickly grab lunch and go. I was literally there for less than 10 minutes and about to leave when they surrounded me. Thank you to the few employees who ignored the fact that I had a dog, and to the one who said my dog was cute. You have no idea how much this means to me. All I want is to feel normal and like I fit in society. Just because I look neuro typical and mentally well it does not mean that I am. One employee said something about dogs being a danger to the farm because of something bacterial or viral related or something like that. I assured them that my dog would not leave the sling so that was not an issue. I would not have him go to the bathroom there and would keep him off the ground. This did not work. Please offer compassionate trauma informed disability training for staff here. Businesses have been sued for a lot of money for happenings like this. At times and with certain cases, psychiatric disabilities can be just as challenging if not more challenging than physical disabilities. I want to point out that I see I am not the only one who has reviewed on this issue. Please do your community a favor and level up to make your place of business a safer place for people with disabilities. read more

Layout is nice, farm is nice but this place is wildly expensive. The baskets are almost double the price of what they are down the road at the Pumpkin Patch. They also have garlic braids for sale that are 60$+ dollars that only has about 10 garlic heads on it. They should be 30$ AT MAX, as the garlic itself even if they are organic, local or rare varieties is worth about 15$. It is so easy to grow garlic and braid it yourself. How it is possibly that expensive is almost offensive. They will sell regardless and I think that's why they are up charged so dramatically. Don't fall into the price trap if the price seems unreasonable. I will still go here, but I just couldn't believe some of the prices. This place was such a nice find and not too busy for a weekend! Admission is free, and the corn maze was $10 a person. The maze was very well kept, and huge! It took me and my boyfriend about an hour to find all 7 hidden pieces ( some made the cutest photo opportunities)! The farm is good size, having tons of perfect pumpkins, animals, sunflowers, and food. I highly recommend this patch! read more

While walking the property, they have older vehicles set up as photo ops; uh yes please! As if I haven't sold you enough on this farm already, we actually went on a slower day where we actually had the opportunity to sit with the owner and have a great chat about his beautiful property! He was kind, knowledgable and took the time to talk with complete strangers about his journey to owning the property and great things around to check out! As a disabled person going to topaz farms in October's extremely disappointing, they moved the A. D. A section to be quite a long walk. So if you use a canine or a Walker odds, are, you won't actually be able to safely get to the market areathis is extremely frustrating, as they typically have places that are right up front to be able to park the teenagers working the gate during October are often rude and condescending. There Lee liaison is often rude and condescending. Despite the fact the internet says they're open till 6 PM in October.They don't let you in past 4 PM.I've spent a lot of money here over the years.And if you want to enjoy your time don't go in october read more

This year, it looks like they had a bad season because their pumpkin patch is just previously cut pumpkins set In a field, rather than living pumpkins still on the vine. Now if you have some gloves and don't mind small pumpkins, there are some growing next to this fake patch, but it's super thorny to pick them. If you are going with your family for the whole pumpkin patch experience, then you will still have a blast. Especially since it's less crowded than other places. But if you are like us and enjoy the actual pumpkin picking process, skip this year. We will be back next year (maybe on a day where you don't have to pay to get in) because they have had amazing pumpkin patches in the past. Oct 2023. Be warned it is $15 per PERSON on weekends. Just to get in. And once in there is almost nothing going on. Feels like they strategically placed a pumpkin shipped in from somewhere else every 10 feet or so. We were meeting another family there who already went in or we would have turned around. Now we are in and out $45 bucks - oh, a large pumpkin? That will cost you $15. I assume it's because they gotta carry it from somewhere else. Had to squint to see pumpkins. Then drove down the road to Bella that was 1) free 2) actually had pumpkins. Only people going are first timers that don't know pumpkin patches are generally free to get into. I could almost stomach 15 bucks per CAR but per person is just an icky money grab. We looked at their site before going and did not see the new cover charge, probably by design. They are more profitable as weed farms which I think is what is going on at Topaz, so they should quit with pumpkin patch business as it's a total letdown.
