I think I need to update my review from 14 years ago!!!!…read more I stand by my original post: How wonderful to have a real grocery store that specializes in local and organic products. Much of the produce is locally grown, or locally adjacent (AKA California) OK, Bananas do not grow in the Great Basin. The origin of the produce is identified. They work with local farmers, bakeries, and other local businesses for the food and non-food items. They no longer have the upstairs restaurant but they do have a kitchen and make ready to go items. I love picking up a fresh salad (some with meat some purely vegan/vegetarian) , a yummy very generously filled wrap, house made cookies and other delectable treats. They have a large selection of locally produced meats. Lots of organic canned goods, dairy and non-dairy items . . . the list goes on. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. Memberships are available (20$/year) with a once a month 10% off of your total purchase. You do NOT need a membership to shop here. It's small and a bit cramped but there is a lot of good stuff there. It's clean and friendly and completely locally owned.

So when lunch break came around I knew exactly where I was headed, Great Basin Co-op! I enjoyed a nice brisk walk in an autumn filled day. When I entered the store I was warming greeted by staff and by an organic clean smell. I really wanted their fresh spring rolls but they did not have those that day so I chose fresh rolled salmon made with wild caught salmon. It did not disappoint! Will I be back? Absolutely! So much fresh and organic choices! They also have plenty of seating indoor or outdoor. Thanks Great Basin Co-op!

I was excited to see that they offer fresh healthy food at an affordable price. A co worker and I decided to try them and we got the torta with meat. They offered a decent size portion of beef and taste delicious. We also tried their cactus salad that came with chips and we took advantage of their Thirsty Thursday special and got some cold press juices. They offer a wide selection of juices and you can also purchase the juices as a weekly and/or monthly subscription. This is a nice healthy option available inside the basement that also sells their cute little bags with their logo. The fruits and vegetables are fresh, their customer service is excellent and Thania and her staff are very nice and can offer delicious recommendations. Make sure to stop by next time you're downtown and see heading to the basement in Reno.

I got a chocolate peanut butter smoothie and my wife enjoyed a coffee and cream. But this is definitely a business worth supporting. Situated in the basement of the historic Post Office across from the Pioneer Theater, we almost didn't find it, but felt adventurous enough to search. Really glad we did! Not only are the offerings healthy and delicious, but they are served up by friendly folks who care about their customers. That alone is worth visiting again., thanks for a great mid-morning break.

I think the establishment is so neat, the upper balcony area must have some of the best views. The menu seemed to have a great variety of food options available. I settled upon the Turkey Bacon Avocado, it sounded amazing but what I received was disappointing. It was chunks of turkey and the majority of the bacon was soggy and uneatable. I made the best of it, but most of the dish went uneaten. I did enjoy the salad with the flowers. The establishment had a busy lunchtime flow. Good for them, just not a place I will plan to come back to try again.

There are still pre-packaged food items and prepared burritos, soups, and cookies available for sale downstairs. Expected reopen is this summer. When it is reopen I shall return again! Until then, 5 stars all around for the last 8 years of me going to this place :) This place is a vibe, straight up. The whole upstairs area of the Co Op got remodeled to host more people and make it more friendly for those that like to hang around for that coffee shop vibe. Their outdoor patio is so fun and wonderful when it gets warmer out and opens up for the season. The ordering process is a lot more straightforward now; you get a buzzer after ordering and walk up to the other side of the counter to receive your food. My favorite thing over the last year has been their smoothie bowls. The peanut honey drizzle keeps me coming back and I'm excited to try it again once they are open! Their burritos and sandwiches have also been wonderful and tasty!
