We love this adventure obstacle course and have been many times. Here is what you should know if you are considering going: It is rather rigorous. I am an athlete and offer you should not go if you are not physically capable. Injured? Don't go. Also, if you are a group or have children, let others pass you as you will slow them down. Staff are not on the course. Do not expect them to come help you. Be self sufficient. Set reasonable expectations for yourself. And don't worry about what other people think. Hydrate. This is physical exercise. And have fun! This is fun! Be free with yourself and your companions. Laugh! Connect with nature. Enjoy challenging yourself. Try something new. Why 4 stars instead of 5? Staff are inconsistent and so is the upkeep. For example on today's visit one of the ropes was broken but I was allowed to use the obstacle anyway. That seemed very unsafe to me. This was a Christmas present for my two daughters and the boyfriend of one of my kids. I decided to join them as well. Everyone loved the experience. I am not scared of heights but I was terrified. That first tree crossing is scary but after that, it got better, not easier, just better. Our trainer and guide was great. You are in a harness the entire time so you aren't going to fall to the ground or anything! The entire experience took almost two hours. 2 out of 4 of us would do it again! I received a discounted entry to the Ziplining Course here through a separate organization so it was definitely more than worth it. I would say, however, that this place is worth the price in any case as a at least one time experience because it's a great mix of challenges and a lot more fun than expected. The guides were helpful, and everything felt extremely safe. I've done high speed (like 40+ mph) ziplines in Europe, and honestly this was just as if not more fun. Part of that is because the speed is more tame you can actually be more present to witness the nature!! I enjoyed the obstacles and general navigating around a lot more than expected as well. There are a few variations to make these courses more or less challenges depending on your physical fitness level. I really underestimated how much I would love going here. Super fun date idea, family experience or cool thing to do with a friend. We had a blast at Go Ape with the family. Check in was fast and easy. We did not go in with high expectations but left impressed. We have done a lot of zip lining and having some independence on the course was stimulating. I could see how to a first timer it may make one nervous. Don't let the scare you but embrace it. The safety briefing was all you needed to navigate the course. The staff were super friendly and helpful. We did bring our own gloves and were a little skeptic. Glad it was recommended and required. They were very useful. I did drop my phone from on high but I was able to flag down a staff member to retrieve it. That was super nice and helpful. I forgot his name but he had an Army hat on and was our guide through the safety briefing. Last suggestion was go early if it is summer time. Heat and humidity is tough. We didn't realize how challenging this course was. Definitely uses every muscle in your body. It was super fun and we had a great time. My girlfriend lost her very expensive sunglasses near the end. Ethan, one of the young guys working there, said if we weren't in a hurry, he would go look for them. We seriously doubted he would find them, but he did. We were grateful and tried to offer him a tip, but he would not accept it. He didn't want us to think he did that in hopes of getting a tip. Came here with a Military group to have a good time. This is a self escorted zip line obstacle course. I believe the weight limit is around 240lbs, and there is a lot of balance, swaying obstacles in the air to get to and from. We came after a good rain and the sun was out, it felt like Florida. Wear sunscreen and bug repellent. Our feet was getting stuck in the mud. The workers, were amazing and kind, and all our people had a great time! read more

Does traversing a rope course 30 feet up in the trees and ziplining through the forest sound like your cup of tea? Don't have a fear of heights, or want to surpass your fear of heights? If so, Go Ape is for you! The wife and I had a blast on the treetop obstacle course at Go Ape Plano. This ropes course was challenging but not difficult to the point where first timers couldn't make it through. Which was good, because once you're hooked in, you're committed until the end! Safety is a top priority here. A steel cable runs the length of each course and you're hooked onto it with two lines (one line is sufficient but the second is a failsafe). The cable prevents you from falling as you climb the ladder at the start of each course, navigate each obstacle from one platform to the next, and finally ride a zipline back down. There are five courses here, with the first being an introductory one led by your guide. Past that point you're on your own, but your guide will be walking the trails below keeping an eye on things. Courses 3 and 4 are the hardest, but each has an alternate route that lets you do an easier obstacle instead of some harder ones. General tips: * Gloves are required. Fingerless is fine, but you might want gloves that protect your full fingers because of rope burn. * You can leave phones, keys, and other small items with the staff at the check-in booth. * The courses are mostly shaded due to tree cover. * At the start of each course is water and a puzzle that you can do while resting/waiting for the people in front of you. And some observations about the courses (warning: minor spoilers ahead): * Courses 3 and 4 have some obstacles that require some strength and endurance, but you can zip through some or take an easier route. * Course 4 has an obstacle called Sherwood Crossing which is downright devious. You might be able to do it "properly" if you have insane grip strength, but it wasn't clear to anyone how to get across without zipping through. * Course 4 has the zipline with arguably the best view. You get to zip through a clearing over a creek! * Course 5 has two routes to choose from at the start. Take the route that includes the Tarzan Swing and you won't be disappointed. The staff was cool and even let me repeat two of the courses for some extra practice. Too bad they don't sell a day pass, because I could do this all day! I've been ziplining before on Catalina Island. This was not quite the same. You'll be in a boot camp obstacle course. You are responsible to attaching most of the equipment yourself after the training session so please pay attention. Gloves are a must. This is a very physical activity. Not a quick zipping experience. You do have to wait for others. Don't wear white Sneakers or clothes. You will drag the shoes and maybe land in the mulch pit. Be prepared to test your balance. It was fun, scary, and rewarding to know you can push yourself. read more

Great all you zippers and swingers. This is the place for you. This is a very safe way to find yourself up a tree. With the shuttle capture system they use it is a double and even triple safety line system. You receive training at the beginning before climbing the big trees. This is only point that is contested. Once up there, many obstacles await. Use the three points of contact rule. Also be careful when stepping onto swing steps. Grab the line first before stepping or you may find yourself doing the splits and speaking an octave or two higher. There are options for the more difficult lines. Or just brave it out and test your abilities. Be prepared for the next day, you may have some bumps or bruises and may be a bit sore. read more

Our instructor Lind was amazing. He taught us little rhymes to remember the steps. However, after the first real course, You're on your own completely! There was supposed to be another guide at each station, but there was no one there! There was a portion of the course where you get to choose the easier route or the more difficult route. The problem is that there were NO clear instructions on how to change/choose your route and no one around to tell us. Overall it was very repetitive. If you're looking for primarily zip lining with a little bit in between, this is not the place for you. It's more of an up in the air obstacle course with a few zip lines in between. Update: Someone from Go ape commend on my original review saying the staff are not there at each station, but are "monitoring" from the ground. The staff member who was "monitoring after course 2 was on the phone and eventually left and was nowhere to be found. Someone from a my group and the group behind us called for help due to difficulty connecting to course 3 despite the instructions, yet no one came to help. Seems like a poor job of monitoring. Who knows, maybe they were short staffed. Either way it made people feel as though they didn't have any guidance. This place was amazing. You really feel like you are in another world up there in the canopy, a little escape away from urban life. The cicada noises (don't worry you don't actually see any) give it a "jungle" feel. Lots of cool obstacles, set up as different jump sites (Site 1 thru Site 5, I think). Very peaceful and adventurous at the same time. Some of the obstacles (getting across from one tree to another) are easy and some of them are much more difficult than they look. Especially when you get to the locations where you choose between normal and extreme routes (they have trees where you pick your path). The extreme path obstacles are pretty challenging. I'm pretty strong and in good shape, and some of them wore me out . For each site, after going through the obstacles, at the end is a long zip line. That's always the best part... zipping down across and over the creek. We purchased gloves and face shields from Go Ape. The face shields were hard to keep on because it was hot and they got wet with perspiration. The phone case was clutch, which we also got. As tips make sure to stay hydrated (very important) and to to wear comfortable outdoor clothing (gym shorts, t-shirt, etc.) Service was great, experience was amazing. Highly recommend!! read more

We were so incredibly impressed with this place. We booked a time slot for our daughter and her friends for her 16th birthday. They had a blast! Several of them were scared to death at the beginning, but by the end they were loving it! The staff did a terrific job explaining everything and keeping everyone safe, healthy, and having fun. You can tell that they are well trained and that they enjoy their jobs. I didn't know what to expect since I had no idea there was a treetop adventure so close to us in Plano, but this place exceeded our expectations. This was my first time going, and I had the worst time there. I was really looking forward to this challenging course, but I couldn't enjoy it bc our tour guy was really disrespectful. Not to be a Karen, but the problem was that our instructor was an asshole. I didn't get his name, but it was at 1:00 PM on a Friday 22nd of October. He had on black nail polish, and pink socks. He was being very rude and disrespectful towards our group. 1) He seemed very frustrated every-time we had a question. It's a very difficult course, so him yelling did not help. 2) constantly yelling at us and his tone was very hostile. He should change his tone if he was trying to get his point through.For example, I was on my phone sending a quick message. I understand he was doing his job, but he kept telling me "pull the white strings", and I literally had to tell him to please wait. That's no way to treat a paying customer. 3) he kept calling the little teenager "girl" rather than her name, which in my opinion is very disrespectful. 4) he was very impatient and simply didn't care to help at us. This place is great! I've been here twice now and I'd definitely go for a third and fourth time. While it is on the pricer end (about $60 per person), it did take me and my friends over 2 hours to complete- so I feel like it's pretty worth. Both times, I went with a group of four and I felt like thar I was a pretty good size. There are a lot of safety stuff regarding the harnesses so attaching it and detaching it becomes a pain sometimes, but hey, gotta be safe! Go Ape includes 5 different ropes course and a zip line at the end of each ropes course. Some courses allows you to choose a course (hard or extreme) which I really enjoyed because I got to challenge myself on the extreme courses. The staff are friendly, helpful, and super thorough with instructions. I had a friend who was scared of heights, but our instructor helped her along the whole course and gave her lots of encouragement as well. The views here are great as well! I've never done something like a ropes course built up in the trees, so this is definitely a great experience!! Also, DEFINITELY DO THE TARZAN SWING. Don't skip out on it- it's so worth it. Cancelled due to flooding via email the morning of not even 30 minutes before our scheduled time. We drove over an hour and a half. The only thing they said is that they sent out a reminder on Instagram??? Very unprofessional. The best they could offer is a rain check voucher. That doesn't make up for us driving over an hour and a half. We asked for a full refund and will not be going back here in the future. Re: I totally understand that we can't control the weather. My problem was not that they had to cancel due to flooding... at all. It was the manner in which the situation was handled by staff. Our scheduled time was 11:15AM... the cancellation email was sent out at 10:44AM... there is an issue with that. Not one person reached out to call us to inform us about the cancellation. We left our home at 9:15AM. There were tons of other customers that showed up and were just as surprised and frustrated as we were. Our person that helped us out through the course was Isabel, besides her being cute, she was funny, helpful and even saved my watch for me. She had a MONEY throw up to the platform for me to catch it and put it back on. My onion ring friend got saved by Becca, she was awesome, she smuggled us Gatorades so that was neat. This is definitely one of those things where fun is a relative term. First off, it is extremely risky and you could be seriously injured or die. They make you sign multiple waivers protecting them from lawsuits by you or your heirs should anything go wrong, even if they are negligent. They give you up until you make it through training to turn back and get a full refund. If you continue, know it takes stamina, upper body strength, and agility to make it through 5 courses. The zip-lining is minimal and the relaxing part. Most of the time you're climbing rope ladders or crossing in between the trees on unstable obstacles. So you can absolutely not be afraid of heights. The instructors are definitely less visible the further along you make it but they didn't totally disappear. We started/trained with Evan who was great but 4 others helped us along the way. I actually emailed Lindsey Manny prior to writing the review and asked if they would honor the 20%- I gave her the chance to make things right then and there- but she said no, they would not. I took my 10-year old grandson visiting from out of state today. The operation was well-organised with ample staff. The up-front training was a bit fast, but by watching other participants, and with frequent help by the staff, I was able to figure it all out as I went along. At no time did I ever feel unsafe. It was HOT today. And humid. 99 deg. With no breeze in the trees. While my grandson had no difficulty at all, and very much enjoyed the experience, as an older person, I found the climbing and, even some of the horizontal work, very exhausting. One staff member - I've forgotten her name - kindly helped me up the cargo net onto the platform. Finally, sweating profusely, I had to surrender and call it a day. Staff was very observant to ensure that I made it back to the cabin, one member bringing me a bottle of cold water. After arriving at the cabin, a bevy of charming young ladies invited me to recover in the nice cool office, even giving me a bottle of Gatorade. The were exceedingly kind. Would I go again? Maybe. When the weather is cooler. After I've shed 10 pounds, and worked on upper body strength.
