Medium size but top quality newish equipment and never crowded

I have always struggled to exercise, in an effort to maintain my quality of life as I grow older. The 10 lbs a decade is a fact I can attest to. Add to that, missing the gym for a year due to the pandemic and jumping back in, is a struggle. The person that always made that struggle easier for me, over the last few years, was a recreation center associate named Mia. She knew I didn't even like walking into the place, much less " pumping iron" ! About two years ago she suggested, I try racketball. There are two courts and never anyone on them. So, I checked out a racket and balls. I loved it. It feels great, knocking balls around the square enclosed room and I feel healthier for it. That's just one thing in one life Mia affected, by working here. In her twenty-year tenure, imagine all the lives she has had a positive influence on. Yesterday I found out she was taken from us by the pandemic. She was a bright light. Funny intelligent, interesting and possessing an ancient soul. A void never to be filled is left and working out will never be the same. Thank you Mia and may you rest in peace.

Good recreation center with a indoor track. Joined recently so I haven't tried everything at the rec center. I could see a racket ball court off to the side and volleyball game below.

He even trained me during my pregnancy (I worked out the day before I went into labor, ya'll!), which helped me recover more quickly from all the horrors of being pregnant and giving birth. There is nothing I have stuck with for 10 years, except my workout routine with JC. The environment at Retrain Fitness is fantastic. You show up, he makes you do things you think you can't do...but next thing you know, you did it, and you feel fantastic. Everyone there is family. You find yourself laughing or smiling in the middle of your workout, despite the fact you've just been told to do 8 burpees. I can't recommend Retrain Fitness enough. Come join us!!

I knew that I did not want to just pay another monthly membership fee and never show up or start but quit very soon after. With JC it's different; you walk in and usually be there for 45 minutes to 1 hour and feel amazing. He starts you slowly but will continue to challenge you as you get stronger and more fit. After a little over a year I lost about 15 lbs, lost more inches, gained a lot of muscle, and continue to work on ways to enhance my health, which JC always helps me with. Last but not least, being part of Retrain Fitness is like being part of a family. We have fun working out together, joke, laugh, tease, and even celebrate together. I recommend working out with JC and I know I'll continue to be part of this family for the rest of my life!

Recently, they've temporarily closed Joe Farmer for some updates allowing me to use the new one. Yes,there are two different membership fees for each and the difference is significant. However, after experiencing the new expanse that is Stephen G Terrell Rec center, I am inclined to move my membership here soon. A few of the reasons: Huge open spacious vibe that has a psychologically positive impact. Much larger and more modern 3 lane running/walking tract that threads thru a large part of the facility. Extensive resistance weight areas including,2 free weight areas and one machine area...all state of the art. Treadmill, elliptical, rowing, and stepping machines, in copious amounts. Outside terrace exercise area with sleds, ropes, bags etc In addition a 2 story play area for children, meeting rooms, classrooms etc. This is a archetectually well designed and implemented modern community " rec center". Oh,did I mention the 7 basketball courts?...... Go!

All Flash, No Substance The only reason this place gets a…read moresingle star is because the building is actually nice. Don't let the new equipment and shiny infrastructure fool you--the experience inside is a total disaster. * Rude Staff: From the moment you walk in, you're treated like an inconvenience. The front desk staff are consistently dismissive and act as if answering a simple question is a personal insult. * Dishonest & Collusive Management The leadership here is fundamentally unprofessional across all levels. It's not just one "bad apple"--there is a deep-seated culture of collusion where managers consistently cover for each other's mistakes. Instead of taking accountability, they resort to gaslighting and rewriting facts to dodge responsibility. It is impossible to have a transparent conversation or resolve a genuine concern when the entire management team prioritizes fabricated excuses** over basic integrity. They would rather protect their own images than fix a problem for a customer. * Zero Customer Service: There is a fundamental lack of basic service here. If you have an issue, don't expect a resolution; expect an argument. It's a shame to see such a high-end facility wasted by a team that clearly doesn't want to be there. Save your money and your sanity--go somewhere where they actually value their members.

I am an athlete and offer you should not go if you are not physically capable. Injured? Don't go. Also, if you are a group or have children, let others pass you as you will slow them down. Staff are not on the course. Do not expect them to come help you. Be self sufficient. Set reasonable expectations for yourself. And don't worry about what other people think. Hydrate. This is physical exercise. And have fun! This is fun! Be free with yourself and your companions. Laugh! Connect with nature. Enjoy challenging yourself. Try something new. Why 4 stars instead of 5? Staff are inconsistent and so is the upkeep. For example on today's visit one of the ropes was broken but I was allowed to use the obstacle anyway. That seemed very unsafe to me. The locks are malfunctioning etc. But overall we enjoy coming out and will continue to do so.
