How many times can you actually recall having contractors that you wish could stay forever. These guys were such an amazing crew to work with...completely on top of scheduling, permitting, labor, working with inspections, etc. Not only that but they were patient with the numerous change requests we had and all the while coming back to make sure they got every detail. We found Brilliant Electric through the "find an electrician" function on Tesla's website, and chose it based on the positive reviews. A few weeks ago we asked for an estimate for installing a Tesla wall charger on our property (a single family home). They came and spent about 5 minutes inspecting our house, and a few days later we got quoted a whopping $8.5k!!! This price seemed highly unreasonable to us as most estimates online place installation at around $1.5k, with the maximum I've seen being $5k. We got quotes from two other companies that were around $1850 and $2420 respectively, which seemed much more reasonable. According to one of those companies, who actually listed out everything they would need to acquire for us, the material cost should be a little over $1000. We were told we don't need to upgrade our current electric panel, we just need the charger mounted outside the garage and a wire connecting it to our electric panel. But when we asked BE for an itemized quote, they simply told us the material cost was over $3.3k (without a detailed breakdown) with a labor cost of over $5.1k. How can you explain such a huge discrepancy? It seems highly suspect. All in all, we were very frustrated with our experience and with what we believe to be extremely outrageous pricing practices. read more

I've been using GoBrilliant's service since 2013 and have always had a great experience. This time I had an urgent need to have my problematic kitchen & dining light switch replaced before heading out of the country for a trip. Chanel & Sarah juggled schedules to squeeze me in within 48 hrs. The switch was a bit complicated as the sides of the metal plate it sits on had to be cut & customized to fit the dual lightbox, so I sent photos of the current setup ahead of time. Louis (the electrician) arrived on time with his mask & shoe covers, and to my delight, he'd already pre-cut the metal part of the switch to match the photo I sent. We needed a NEMA 14-50 outlet installed for charging a Tesla vehicle, and found Brilliant Electric from Tesla charging guide webpage. There are about 20 certified vendors on the Tesla page and Brilliant Electric is one of the few with high Yelp reviews. Overall experience is very professional. We called initially on Thursday to get a quote, but for some reason we didn't get the email. We made the second call on the following Tuesday, and the reception lady handled it right away with quotes, and schedule for visit etc. The crew came the next day on Wednesday and installed it outside our garage in about two hours. 35 feet cable was pulled and installed inside pipes, a new 50A circuit breaker was installed and a weather resistant NEMA outlet was installed as well. First impressions are important, and Brilliant Homes service, professionalism, and results were five-star. In addition, Jesus delivered persevering service, he just wouldn't give up! On the day of the second appointment (second one after a first successful one, 'cept he didn't have a rheostat light switch), we called the Brilliant Homes office, and asked them, in addition to what we had already asked, could they look at our range hood lights. One would not work, and we could not get the bulb out. Jesus did, although even for him it was a Herculean effort. He recommended a different low wattage light bulb, which works fine in both range hood receptacles. Excellent advice! Originally, we had a ceiling fan and light go out. We went out and bought a replacement unit, and asked Brilliant Homes to help us out installing it. But, surprise, they fixed the old one instead. I had an intermittent electrical problem that started occurring about once a week for about 2 months. I contacted another electrician who seemed clueless and charged a lot, so I had an appointment to meet for a free quote with Go Brilliant Electric. I met with Christian and his partner Jesus, who I walked through everything that has been happening, what was on/off when the problems occurred, and what I did to temporarily fix the issue. These two figured the problem out pretty quickly and told me what I had done as a temporary fix was actually not doing anything and was just dumb luck that the electricity kicked back on. I was amazed on how fast they determined the problem, and they made a call to the office and wrote up a quote on the spot, which was a LOT cheaper than the previous electrician. I also was amazed how the other electrician missed the somewhat simple problem. The problem was simple, but the work sounded about 3/4 of a day worth of work with rewiring, upgrading a fuse box to breakers, and installing new mounting circuits which makes their scheduling amazing as well. The quote was finished in the late afternoon, and after signing the quote, they did the work the next morning. Very impressed! It's hard to find real professionals nowadays who don't cut corners and try to drain every dollar out of you for less work. This company doesn't do that. Definitely recommended.
