I had to contact them well after 5pm on yelp, "I rushed back home today to make sure I would make our appointment. I guess you aren't interested." Later he responded, "Yes, i changed my plans as well to match the time with your availability because i was done with the last appointment by 3:30 and went to my home and I'm coming with my personal car now and 5 min away." I hired Ben and his team to do a panel replacement / service upgrade and full rewire of the old knob and tube wiring in my newly purchased home. Ben really went above in beyond in his service. Some callouts: * They handled all of the city inspection and permitting process and passed inspections on the first try. * They did additional work for us without needing to draft new contracts. For example, they installed a smart doorbell for us (with transformer upgrade) and redid some previously existing unsafe bathroom wiring for free. I really appreciate their dedication to the craft and safety. * They made the effort to patch larger holes in the drywall that they made as part of the rewiring work. I did not expect an electrician to make any effort in patching holes so I was pleasantly surprised. Ben is great! I scheduled an estimate, and during the estimate, he helped me solve two outstanding questions on the spot even though he was just there for a free estimate: He figured out that I had a light switch in the garage hidden behind the fridge that controlled the garage light I had been trying to figure out how to control. He also figured out that one of the switches I wanted to replace had Romex wire with a neutral wire, and the other was knob and tube without a neutral wire. This enabled me to replace one of the switches with a wifi switch myself thus saving me money. Now keep in mind all this is without charging one cent. That's the kind of guy that Ben is - he is happy to help and impart quick knowledge, even though he would have been perfectly in his rights to include troubleshooting the garage light and identifying the wiring in the switches in his estimate rather than helping me without charging me. On top of that, his estimate came in lower than other estimates I got, and he was able to complete the job by himself in five hours. He installed a new fan box and ceiling fan, replaced two switches and made them wifi, removed an old bathroom exhaust fan and installed a new bathroom exhaust fan, installed a new outlet in the attic and drilled holes to run charger cables out to security cameras that I had pre-mounted, ran the cables, connected the cameras, and caulked up the holes afterwards. He also inspected the attic electrical and closed up 4 open junction boxes. Two other companies I had gotten estimates from wanted to charge me for two guys over two days to get this work done. So basically Ben is friendly, generous with his time and knowledge, and really affordable. He is super experienced, skilled, and fast - those go together I think. The project would require PG&E to replace underground conduit which would be very expensive $5-$10 grand and another $4 grand for the service panel. He would not recommend an upgrade. Ben came by to replace 2 pendants above my countertop. 2 stars for being punctual. Unfortunately the pendants were damaged so we couldn't move forward with the job. Here are the reasons for my dissatisfaction: Contrary to other reviews, which state that Ben was respectful and wore booties in their home, he did not wear booties in mine (during pandemic time) and he stepped his dirty sneaker on top of my clean countertop. He also appeared rushed/ irritable when I was trying to decide on the pendant height. Then after placing the old pendant back he charged me $150 for 30 mins of his time. This is contrary to other reviews that said he didn't charge them for coming out to do a simple job. Ultimately, I won't be calling this vendor back. read more
