I thought this was a local chain that we might not have in New York, but I've since learned it's not! The ambience is gorgeous, warm and inviting well still having a luxury upscale experience. with a beautiful fish tank that doesn't even have a fingerprint on it. The service is on point, the steaks on point and the side dishes, never disappoint! Please add those glazed carrots to the regular menu because I never knew I liked glazed carrots until I had them there and I blame you for my addiction! The bread and butter are delicious and I feel like you can always tell the quality of a good restaurant by the bread and butter that they put out they take the extra minute to warm up the butter and that really says a lot about customer service to me As I mentioned earlier, I usually go Valentine's Day weekend and if the holiday actually falls on a weekend, I try to go the day before or the day after just because I feel like any restaurant gives a better experience, not on a holiday! But I did end up here one year on Valentine's Day. It was packed. I had a reservation and the food quality did not diminished at all even compared to a slower times I've been there.! that says a lot about the staff the cooks and the quality of product they try/deliver to put out. This is one of my favorites in an area then I regularly travel to! 5/5 food 5/5 service 5/5 ambiance

Service- Amazing- our waitress was so nice but not that attentive which was ok but our food also came out after 45 minutes of waiting after we ordered. Normally that would take a review done but this place was so good it didn't!!! Ambience- the tables are a little small but other wise great! It's hard to explain but they have got a good vibe! Overall 4 stars- wish I could give a 4.5 but that's ok!

Was our absolute favorite & husband reported the steak was bland without it. On a positive, love they acquired a pastry chef. My to-go Coconut Cake was divine. The Ice Cream Affogato is brilliant in its simplicity! The Sautéed Mushrooms incredible! How much can you do w/ a mushroom ?? Ask the chef! Also, think they have the best Mac n Cheese (tho I do miss the fresh herb component). Still a favorite, but hoping some of the former glory is restored on my next visit!

Even the complementary bread and butter is high quality--a bit torturous, in fact, since you don't want to spoil your appetite for the what's coming. Go big and get the Delmonico ribeye. Perfection. The oysters with the perfectly vinegary migonette sauce is a great starter, as is the butcher's bacon. Also, pro tip, you can get the salads in half sizes and you wouldn't go wrong with any of them. The caesar is my favorite, but recently had an outstanding wedge as well, with plenty of bleu cheese.

Whenever a new hibachi restaurant opens up in town, it creates quite a stir. For years we only had…read moreour choice of Tokyo Hibachi & Bar or Mikura to get the full hibachi experience (shrimp flyin', saké chuggin', onion ring volcano shootin' fire into the air, which can be felt on the faces of people sitting across the room). But when Masa arrived, it changed the whole town's dynamic. MIkura was basically banished into the nether realm. Their hibachi tables are way too cramped. If your two favorite things are the wise-cracking, egg-balancing-on-the-spatula, cheery on the outside but everyone knows is depressed on the inside hibachi chef and claustrophobia, then this place is for you. Tokyo has been the king for the longest time, but Masa is a true powerhouse in its own right. It's fairly obvious the scales are tipping in Masa's favor these days, for if you were to ask an acquaintance about where they'd like to go for your pre-arranged sushi lunch that you had planned for weeks and miraculously neither of you bailed, nearly every time that person would say Masa. Speaking of lunch, the specials here are what keep me coming back. Three rolls for $13, hibachi combos (i.e. chicken, veggies, fried rice, soup) also for $13, and their Lunch Wok & Grill Platters (protein, Cali roll, dumpling, rice, and soup) for $12. Bonkers. There are still good deals out there, just gotta know where to look. The hibachi experience is top notch. Here you get a proper amount of space, heck, you might even go as far to say an abundance. And that's how it should be. Lots of room, not cramped up next to the other tables, where you get splattered from their oil and feel the burn from their onion volcanos. Must say, I quite dig this place. For the life of me I can't think of a single thing I dislike. Bravo, Masa, you are now the king of hibachi in Reading, PA.

Passing through town, we stopped for an early dinner. At 4:30 we expected the restaurant to be…read moreempty .... but NOOOOO. The place was jumping. We were happy they could seat us. My husband and I assessed Austin's differently. He ordered prime rib which he said was nothing short of perfect. Cooked medium rare as requested, tender, juicy -- he savored every bite. I scanned the menu. Nothing jumped out at me. (I generally don't gravitate to steakhouse-type restaurants.) I ordered a half rack of baby back ribs. My point of comparison is Longhorn's which offers more of a bang-for-a-buck, and in my opinion better tasting ribs. Not to say that Austin's aren't good. They are. Based on the popularity of Austin's, it's clear management knows what they're doing. But I think a small salad and baked potato should be available with the price of the entree -- not worth the extra $7 I was going to be charged. The salad is listed as 'field greens,' -- which it's not -- but reading the menu you'll see they mean iceberg and romaine. The salad was good, enhanced by their garlic ranch dressing. We washed down our meals with well-priced drinks: merlot ($8.90) and Blue Moon ($6.90), then splurged on dessert. Austin's flourless double chocolate brownie a la mode is very rich. One order for two adults is plenty. Austin's is aptly described as a family restaurant. A lot of kids. A lot of noise. Service is friendly and on-the-ball. While not my kind of restaurant, if prime rib is your thing -- this could be the place!

No longer Broken Chair - but pretty wobbly. West Brew…read moreIzakaya arrives in the old neighborhood, renamed and refreshed. First crisp winter winds in late November ventured us to warm our bellies- What better way than with a drink and a soup! We decided on West Brew. There was a crowd around as we entered and was quite full for our seating at 6pm. We sat at the last 2 seats left, at the bar. Various unique decisions towards drinks- PA local liquors, some of Broken's recipe beers, bubble tea and sakes- how fun! My husband ordered the Passionfruit Green Tea (spiked- love this idea!) and I tried a Sake flight. The bubble tea came in a reusable Takkii tumbler. Sweet and fun. My sakes were intro'ed and each described on a tasting card. Sakes aren't seen everywhere, so it was great to have the chance to try. Then we ordered food. Needed to sample and see- So we started with the Appetizer Bento Box. This arrived quickly and presented tastefully. Freshly fried. But fried just all tasting the same. Including the gyoza. The shrimp tempura was a recommend. The tempura batter was not heavy or chewy, it was flaked. The seaweed salad needed brightness in acid. Overall, the app- good. If craving a fried feast, get it. We put in for our ramen bowls at the time of the app order. I ordered the Shoyu bowl and my husband the Spicy Fried Chicken Ramen. After the app was cleared, my ramen came within a few minutes. However, we eat when full party is served. So I sat, warm bowl calling.....since my husband was not served. Sat and stared. We stayed waiting for another 15 minutes and his finally arrived. Eating with my eyes for so long, my ramen bowl looked great. Then discovered how it tasted in comparison..... Best word is lackluster. Ramen - give me a broth. A power broth. Flavor, bang! This flavor boo. The broth needed longer development and depth. For both of our bowls. The soft boiled eggs were chewy-gooey soy in a good way. This was our favorite bite of the bowls. The chicken for my husband's had no spice and appeared exactly as the same fried chicken bites in the app sampler. Here's where it lied with the ramen- as served, it was good. Once it sat it was better. We were quite full from the app, so we had large takeaways for the ramen- leftovers were better than our initial meal. That again lends to the broth needing more time. Besides, Here's where it hurts- And where the review score derives- The buzz we considered for West Brew actually swarmed as fruit flies we consistently observed around the bar. And had to shoo away as we ate and drank. Mind you- we kept polite and just tolerated. Appearance towards good housekeeping was behind the bar, yet this still leads to question cleanliness, upkeep and accountability of any establishment. We do hope by now they have this problem resolved. West Brew has done a wonderful job of promoting and presenting their new restaurant, which is why we wanted to dine in. The food was not exceptional enough to overtake the issues of time and pest management. For the love of West Reading, hoping for improvements West Brew.
