I had a very disappointing experience with Norden Volkswagen. The used vehicle (a 2024 Jetta GLI) showed safety-related issues on the day of delivery. I returned the vehicle to the dealership immediately. After their inspection, I was informed that the steering wheel angle sensor was broken and the lower control arm was damaged. The dealership claimed these issues occurred after delivery--even though the vehicle was returned the same day--and insisted that I pay for the repairs. Given that these mechanical parts could not have failed immediately under normal use, I raised my concerns. Contrary to that assurance, it took four weeks to even get my car into their shop. Once there, I was informed this is a known issue affecting 2025 VW Atlas vehicles, particularly in the prairies, with no fix expected for at least two years. Feeling misled, I requested a manager's attention. Despite multiple assurances from my salesperson, three weeks passed with no response. Upon following up, I was vaguely told about staff turnover but promised prompt attention--which never materialized. The situation worsened dramatically. Another issue arose when my gas tank cover wouldn't open, forcing me to pry it open manually, causing further damage. Only after persistent outreach did Norden Volkswagen finally respond, claiming turnover as the reason for delays--though suspiciously, the original sales manager from my initial purchase suddenly reappeared, leaving me confused. When I asked for a full refund, the dealership refused outright unless I accepted an $11,000 penalty--completely unreasonable considering these defects were never disclosed and addressed weeks after the purchase. They persuaded me to let them examine the car again, but things escalated dangerously during my next trip. Twice, while traveling at highway speeds (~110 km/h) using cruise control, the vehicle unexpectedly and sharply braked, dropping to 60 km/h almost instantly. Both incidents occurred without any apparent reason, greatly risking our safety and terrifying my passengers and me. Despite reporting these frightening incidents, the dealership's response remained dismissive and ineffective. After yet another inspection, Norden Volkswagen failed to acknowledge most issues I reported, addressing only the gas cap while ignoring serious safety and technical faults. Astonishingly, their proposed "solution" was merely to disable part of the drive assist system on my brand-new luxury vehicle. My experience with Norden Volkswagen has been deeply disappointing, frustrating, and dangerous. I regret not staying with more reliable brands like Toyota or Honda, which provided consistent safety and reliability. We have bought two vehicles from Norden in the last year and had a good experience up to this point when it was time to get winter tires put on one of the vehicle. I took my car in and they took pictures of my car and everything went fine. After I got home I noticed a dent and scratch on my passenger door. I asked for the pictures Norden took and could see there was not dent or scratch. Afrer confirming this I reached out to them again to investigate this issues. I told them I had the Smart Program service and was getting it fixed from there. I was told someone from management would give me an answer on Friday that was 3 weeks ago. Brought our 2023 Tiguan in for its second engine oil leak repair. Lots of warranty work required as well as a PCV repair which we knew was a wearable part and wouldn't be covered. Richard Mason told me NONE of it would be covered. Based on my understanding of our extended warranty, everything should have been covered except the PCV so I believed the information Richard gave me was incorrect. Upon further investigation and advocating for myself, Richard then advised me that he was able to get the repairs covered. Had I not taken the initiative to independently verify my warranty and advocate for myself, I would have paid over 3k out of pocket for this expense. When I confronted him about this, he denied ever stating that the repairs were not covered under warranty. Please, if you are dealing with this dealership, do you due diligence and get second opinions if you believe something is off. They have no integrity and don't seem to be bothered by it. read more

BeWARE! Their extended "warranty" is a scam!! I purchased 3yr extended warranty and had 3rd party inspection within a month after purchase to find housing gasket leak. Fixed without issue, Approx 2 yrs later the same issue was leaking again along with the rear differential leaking as well. This time the warranty company argued their "policy" changed and only covered 3 months of the work/part. After a brief argument the warranty company countered with "we will cover the rear diff cost is u pay for the hosing gasket and belt which had been contaminated. I reached out to the Manager who accommodated my concern after I argued what the hell is the point of purchasing a 3 year warranty if the only cover 3months??!! I took my 2014 VW Jetta TDI to Norden VW in north Edmonton. There was a recall on my auxiliary heating unit. Lately, I've been having trouble with getting any heat in the cabin and we're not even into January yet. I have replaced the thermostat and decided to have a new heater core installed and a cooling system flush. Since it had to go in anyway. After keeping my car for 6 days, I got a call to pick up the car. The pictures below are what I found. 1. A dent the size of a golf ball on the inside of my running board on the driver's side. 2. The mileage in and out are completely different from my actual mileage. Additionally, I found a cut piece of wire and connector on my car seat and torn face mask pieces on the floor and shoved under the driver's seat. Simply, unprofessional and disrespectful. The service consultant told me he would talk to the body shop and get back to me at the end of the day. He would also check into the mileage discrepancy. When he finally got back to me he said that he checked into the security camera footage in the auto shop and there was no indication of damage or wrongdoing on the mechanic's behalf. He did say that he could get the body work done on the dent. Repairing this was normally $800, but he would cut me a deal and only charge $400. I would have to pay $400 for the mechanic's or driver's error. The damage could have been done anywhere else at the dealership or on the 130 km joyride. He merely brushed off the 130 km overage on my odometer as an error in writing the odometer reading down, twice! I wrote to VW Canada and the dealership got a very generic apology and told me that the matter was closed. If you own a VW in the Edmonton area, take your car to be serviced to any other VW dealership, but Norden. Avoid this dealership! read more

Time Wasters Extraordinaire. Plus, my battery died within 12 hours of leaving the lot. I'm new to buying vehicles from a dealership (private sales previously) and came to Norden with the hope that getting a used vehicle from a dealership meant a better chance of getting a vehicle that was checked over and running. Silly me, right? 1st things first, my experience with the dealership: The building is clean, the people are smiling, and I had access to a nice loaner while exchanging my vehicle. Things that should be icing on the cake of a good sales shop, not the only good things worth mentioning. The salesmen regularly promised to let me know updates regarding my car. Then, they would leave me on radio silence for days. I never got updates without multiple attempts at following up. I called in to confirm the time that I was to sign paperwork and make the payment. They said I was good to come in. I showed up, and they left me waiting for 2 hours, telling me that I "came at a bad time". The financial people were unprofessional, and apparently unfamiliar with their own paperwork, given that they couldn't remember where signatures were needed. I was originally told that I should be able to pick up my new purchase on Saturday. They wouldn't confirm that I could come get it til the following Wednesday. When I showed up to get it, they decided to finally run the Carfax on my trade in (which they'd had on their lot since the previous Saturday) and didn't like some detail, and wouldn't let me take my (paid for!) car off the lot til their mechanic checked out the trade in. Only when I showed up with my brother and his girlfriend (an ex-car salesperson) the next evening did they allow me to take my purchase home. Cherry on top, the (very old) battery in my new purchase died the very next morning. Conclusion: If you are, like me, a single woman with limited knowledge of vehicles, if you are looking for a reliable used car, and/or you value your time, I do not recommend this dealership. I've been getting my car serviced here for a long time. My recent experience was horrendous. I was quoted a higher price than other establishment. Advised that I could get a 10% discount on the parts and after rejecting the work was advised by the Service rep that they could "help me out a bit more". Moral of the story is never trust what they tell you until they decide you deserve the "good" deal? This interaction really did remove any trust I had in this establishment. read more

I booked an appointment to have an oil change. While it was in I wanted some faults looked into. They repaired what was causing the faults but neglected to include the oil change on the work order. I live a 2 hour drive away and the local Jiffy lube can't get the filters or oil for my Tiguan. I was forced to go home and book my oil change again. I booked it for 11 AM Saturday morning and they still hadn't begun to work on it by 1:45 pm. When I bought my Tiguan they were excellent, but now 3 years later I am very disappointed. read more

My mom recently bought a new VW Taos from Norden. She had requested certain features and colour for the vehicle. When the vehicle arrived it didn't have all of the features she had requested, and paid for, but no one told her. She didn't notice till she got home that it was missing a feature she had requested. She also found that they did not apply the rock guard she requested or giver her deposit back. When she called them regarding, she was told they'd call her back but never heard from them after. This place is a greasy sales pool. Everyone attacks you like a piece of meat in a lions den.. you know that they have too many sales people. Now for my interaction.. I was here because a certain vehicle peaked my interest I found online. Booked a viewing and went to find it. I arrived early and visually inspected the car. Noticed it had some horrible paint on the front bumper that was cracking. The rest of the car looked fine.. So I was placed with a salesman who was great, honest, and new. Took the vehicle for a drive and it was ok seeming. Pulled in the lot and opened the hood to see if there had been any leaks after my drive and it didn't appear so... but I noticed the front bumper reinforcement was bent, some rust forming on the broken sheet metal and some very shotty repairs from what looked like a front end collision. So I asked for the car fax report... got the report after a long wait inside. Then the manager came by along with the report (which was odd). He sat down and said right away "we aren't dropping the price of this vehicle"... I told him it was clearly in an accident and it was substantially damaged and that's not a fair value for a damaged car regardless of what you think. He said he's not budging. I then asked about the accident and what was involved in the repair... oh boy did I ever get a line of lies. You can tell because he was super shifty and didn't want to even discuss it because it made him uncomfortable. He knew he wouldn't sell it for that price to me because of what I know. I said well that's fine, sell the car to someone unsuspecting and see how they feel. The sales manager, John, even messaged to confirm that we were still coming in as we had made an appointment with Marko a couple days earlier (Marko wasn't even in when we got there to meet him). This place is full of misogynists who will sell you a car illegally. We originally went in to finance a $6000 vehicle with Vincent. After 4 days we are told that one is too cheap to finance. We find a different vehicle. Presented with a contract the same day. For some reason they hold the car for over a week after giving us the run around. Turns out they are holding because they never did an inspection. We received a text saying work is being done however when we go to pick it up the car has breaks that need replacing, and off centre steering wheel, and various other small problems. Since we already signed a contract they didn't seem to care. According to section 15 of the Vehicle Inspection Regulation, a mechanical fitness assessment must be completed and shown to be shown before entering into a contract. After a lot of phone calls the Manager Dylan called and treated me like an absolute moron. I made an appointment at a time that he requested and he also asked what other kinds of cars we wanted to see. When we get there for our appointment, we wait over 30 minutes for anyone to even talk to us and when someone does, it's the original sales person and not Dylan. Apparently Dylan is a very busy man. They didn't even have any cars ready to show us. Dylan continued to be very disrespectful to me, explaining things to me like I was an idiot. He told me I was hostile and wouldn't help me anymore so I needed to leave. Of course I was hostile, we were sold a car ILLEGALLY, given no signed papers OR a bill of sale. By the end he told us to go screw off and call AMVIC because he wasn't going to help us anymore. Do not spend your money here. Go to Nissan North. read more

The Trust in the quality of work on Preventative Maintenance & Inspection is weak with very little accountability and reliability. my trust has eroded over the years in the Tech's actually completing the advertised preventative inspections and maintenance work. I have a hard time verifying which work was done or not, some visible items I can see they always do such as lubricating door hinges at every B service. but I don't know if everything claimed and paid for was actually completed. Seems like I walk away with very little inspection work. I just don't trust anymore. This is typical from most Auto shops, however, most don't claim that higher quality standard and all the multi-point inspections, also you don't pay as much for them. I would sooner just walk in and expect the bare bones oil change, rather than given false sense of security with multi-point inspections completed. If you ask for extra checks on certain parts, you may be charged for it, although you are already paying for the 'inspections' and 'road test' in the higher end service packages "B and Above".. I still have slightly higher trust in the quality of work for repair work, although I had to return for a re-work on some electrical, I have trusted their knowledge and expertise of their service manager and their senior tech's in the back. the friendly smile and great customer interaction is superb, the staff is great to deal with, and all walk around with smiles. Very happy place to visit, and I always enjoy my cup of coffee at their shop. So even though my trust on some quality of work has eroded in some aspects, they are always eager to have me come back - i just wish they didn't cost so much and I wasn't double paying for things that should have been inspected and captured in the inspections and ongoing maintenance. The only way that accountability would be driven home and the shop would ensure they inspected properly as claimed, would be if they took on the risk of repairing any damages due to missed preventative inspections and maintenance. I would love to see shops offering accepting that kind of risk, it's easy and a conflict of interest for a shop to tell you yah they did the inspection and charge you for it, but if they were accepting the risk and accountability with it, then they would make sure they do the job right when the promise so much. I would pay a lot more if I knew I was getting value and peace of mind, but right now it feels sometimes I am paying for nothing, and then I will be coming back to pay more for repairs. if you balance all things considered, Superb customer service, loaner cars, great coffee, friendly smiles, with ok repair & maintenance work, and weak inspections - they are still an "OK" shop... hence why I moved it up to a 3/5. Short of validating the work they claimed they did at another shop, or watching them do the work, I don't know how I can regain trust now. read more

I had to drive in to the city to get the quote. When I picked up the quote I told the salesperson and manager how stupid their rule was. They said they did not want an email shared with another dealer. I laughed and said what's the difference as I could screen shot this quote and send it to every Volkswagen Dealer in Canada. On October 08th I made an appointment to have my winter tires put on my Tiguan. I arrived at the service desk and left my my vehicle to have my tires changed and left to grab a coffee. I was gone for about 2 hours because my vehicle also needed to be serviced according to their video they sent at 9:35 When I returned to pick up my vehicle, I was pleasantly surprised to see they had washed the exterior of my car. It was parked outside the service bay, I went in to pay and headed home. I found it odd that my vehicle was parked at the service bay as previous times, I always picked up my vehicle in the parking lot. I went straight home and when I got home, I saw the back passenger bumper had a huge scrape with scuff marks. I did not notice it when I picked up my vehicle because of the way they parked my vehicle. I contacted the service manager, Scott as soon as I saw the damage. Conveniently the cameras in the lot were being "upgraded" and he did not have footage of the passenger side of my vehicle. It 100% was not there beforehand. He assured me he was " confident" that I did not see the scratch before dropping off my vehicle. I highly recommend not bringing your business to this location as they are not professional or honest. I am very disappointed in my experience and now have to deal with this extra expense. read more

I bought my car from Norden in May 2015, and figured I'd wait a year to have a fair assessment of them based on my experience of their various departments. Overall it's been decent. I'd be lying if I said it was great (mostly because I hate the process of buying a vehicle through a dealership), but they haven't really done anything to make me absolutely hate the process. From a sales perspective, the salesperson was decent and the Sales Manager was pleasant too. The one that got me a little was the Finance person I dealt with. He was extremely pushy and knew exactly what to say to get to the root of vehicle problems. It's a smart move, but it's really slimy in my opinion. The Service and Parts department has also been good. They obviously want to sell the maintenance packages, but they're such a waste of money 95% of the time. Take your time when buying a vehicle. Don't let the sales people pressure you - if they do, don't do business with them. It's that simple. read more

Same old same old when doing the paper work lol it always sucks, BUT if you ever have ANY problems after buying your new car and your problem is related to anything financing, feel free to go talk to them (talk to Rod) these guys will go out of their way to help you out and to make sure you leave that building happier then when you arrived! Service/parts- well you drive into the service area and you are welcomed by a row of extremely helpful people! These ladies are par to none, I always look forward to going in and seeing them, no matter my mood or the weather they are always happy and chipper, they will get you everything you need and will get you on the road, even if they have to offer you their own personal car, that actually happened once! High pressure sales tactic; most recently worst used car shopping experience ever after Sun Toyota (from 2009). Not at all family friendly -- leave your kids with babysitters if you have to shop here. We asked for our keys back because our toddler was getting hungry -- we have snacks in the car. I had to ask for our keys THREE times; not once. They were holding our car ransom and really pushing us into trading in on the same evening when all we wanted to do is to test drive a candidate vehicle. Worst insult was to call our first VW a loaner when the sale was not even finalized. Norden is not honest and will not give you a fair value for trade in -- you have to negotiate for it. The all too typical "let me talk to my manager" tactic. This young salesperson (Adam) took really long and made us wait. We specifically pointed to the online chat person WHICH car we were interested in but he still grabbed the wrong one. He used the toddler's temperament disgustingly to his benefit instead of trying to do the RIGHT thing; i.e. book a follow up appointment and give us time to look around instead of challenging us like we were idiots. I quote "what else do you have to think about?" -- toddler was hungry & tired and we had to go. Edit: in a follow up call from Norden Volkswagen, we told Adam about our bad experience but it did not even phase him. We were really interested in the car but no more. We found every reason to back out of it because of the very rude and pushy behaviour. We want someone who will work with us to make sure we get the RIGHT family car without any buyer's remorse. We asked what the mileage was on the car we were interested but Adam never answered that question. I had to look it up on Google. Newsflash: VW vehicles aren't as fuel efficient (especially not with a Chrysler engine) and it was hilarious that Adam did not even know that this VW vehicle had a Chrysler engine and that the vehicle had a rust spot he failed to disclose. Worse is when he didn't even know much about the car he was trying to sell us -- we did our homework from reading reviews and watching YouTube -- and he lied or made up some facts about the car. If they can't trust their customers and treat their customers with basic respect, why should customers trust them?! I had a much better experience with Southgate Volkswagen in 2009 -- less pushy; if Volkswagen cars are as good as VW claims to be, there is no need for rude and manipulative sales tactics. Terrible, hidden costs they kept lying about, kept changing terms, brutal and sketchy. Left the gf at home the second time in due to the extensive creeping all around. Yikes. Bought the car, had a bunch of extras added, wS supposes to be done asap, it's been 9 months, still not done and they keep adjusting and refusing to complete. Horrible experience. Please beware! Sales would not accept a cash offer said it was company policy that on used you have to go through finance and loaded on the fees. One of the fees was for AMVIC for $500. We felt this was very suspicious so we called AMVIC which is the Alberta Motor Vehicle Industry Council and they said there reques for financing only is not a policy they can uphold if a cash offer is made. They also said that there fee is only $6.25. We have put in an official complaint with AMVIC. read more

Recently purchased a used vehicle from Norden. Excited and enthused, dishonesty, old car sales techniques and rudeness is just not needed anymore. That being said, I will state that Anthony, the sales man who sold me my car appeared upfront and was nice to work with. Upon agreeing to purchase the vehicle, I asked if they could reduce the price by a few hundred dollars. I was told, by Tony that they blasted him for even asking, and said "No, it's full price. Buy it at that or don't." I understand not willing to budge on the price but to retort with this, it's absurd. Even to reduce it by 100$, you'd keep a customer happy and perhaps coming back for the next vehicle. Now working with the finance team and considering the warranty, it is all too typical that James purposely leaves out the key detail, the deductible which you have to pay to have your vehicle covered by warranty. Deductible 250$, which is a major concern in this economy. Understand that the companies make substantial financial gains on these "extended warranties" and thus will do everything to sell them, including acting without character. After purchasing, now I learn of this deductible. It's just not needed to act like this. Now with my vehicle at home and having more time to look it over, the inspection that shows a perfectly working vehicle (which it may be) has little to no radiator fluid, windshield washer pump barely supplies liquid to window, and the air filter which is clean was filled with dog food. I don't get it. Professionalism missing at Norden. I understand that being the customer, I should have spent more time looking it over with a fine toothed comb to ensure everything was taken care of. I was too trusting. I am happy with my car still. However, I dislike dishonesty, being deceived and not showing the highest degree of professionalism and character. One may think after diesel gate, VW would be on their best behaviour. I will not go back for my next vehicle, and I have driven countless VW's. I'd rather spend more money and purchase from a trust worthy, ethical, professional and a character filled company. Proceed with caution if looking at new or used from Norden. read more

Do not trust this dealership or thier staffs, shading business dealings. I purchase a car with them, big big regrets, they ended up putting more than ten thousand worth of unneccessary product on my bill of sales, not sure how they got me to sign that but watch your bill of sales, read over all paper work for warranty product, if possible just don't buy any of their warranty product, take your car and run. Do not trust them they are the worst, the same way they cheated with that emission scandal it the same way they will cheat you off your money. Up front things are all good, after you pick up the car it goes down hill. I had asked to cancel my extended warranty after 30 days. I did some checking and I don't think it was a good deal, my finance manager stopped replying to my e-mails and phone calls, after about 2 weeks I called the general manager he had got some one new to help me, again started great, now he is not getting back to me. Went to see 3 of the vehicles they had advertised online. When I arrived, I was told one was apparently sold days ago, and the other two were at their "sister" dealerships. Complete waste of time. read more
