To be clear, if they had simply followed the original footprint, this would have been a perfectly acceptable fence. It's sturdy. But the materials are budget and there's no craft to it, so getting the design wrong makes an already basic fence that much harder to fix. Communication was poor throughout: no response when we confirmed our availability, then two guys showed up unannounced on a day our neighbor's dog was in the backyard. There was also a 10-foot measurement error in the quote. We hired a company instead of DIY-ing because we wanted something thoughtful and neighbor-considerate. Gerald from RB Fence came to look at the job and provide an estimate. His quote was very detailed, much more so than any of the others we received, and it was the only quote to include a Split Invoice Addendum form for dividing the cost with our neighbor, enabling us each to pay separately and having the amount of each share clearly documented. (This was particularly important because we agreed on an uneven split.) RB Fence was the only quote that came this way, and it really was a selling point, because it made things easier for us. On the day the work was to be done, the crew arrived on time and immediately got to work. We were surprised by how quickly they got the old fence down and the new one up. They are maximizing on the opportunity to install fire hardened metal fences in our neighborhood after new regulations were put into place, but they have a lot of kinks to work out. The sales person spent time going through our specs and requirements but those were not passed on to the install team. The result was a lot of things that needed fixing and changing. I didn't babysit the install team, but that would have helped to prevent the numerous errors. The hardware options they have as standard trim are horrible looking and not user friendly. Gate latches that look terrible and only open from one side - are you kidding me? The customer service is the only star they earned. The customer service person who helped with the fallout of all the problems was very communicative.
