Three letters - W-O-W. April 2021 - They're now open for breakfast. Loving a breakfast with a lot of veggies, headed over at about 9 am. Two choices, with some customization available. First bite of the quinoa grits was so scrumptious I pretty much didn't stop until I'd finished the entire plentiful serving. That never happens to me. Cheeses are there but very light. Just a touch of smoked pepper flavorings mingling throughout - finally done right in this town! Avocado. Uber-fresh greens. Cost about 12$ including 20% tip. I first learned of Goatacado when it brought its food truck to Harborfest in Norfolk this past June 2019. It was a weltering hot day, so I tried the ginger (and hibiscus???) iced tea and loved it. It was a bit awkward ordering because I had to ask for a lid and a straw for my drink. While working in Richmond, I needed to eat lunch before heading back to the 757. I was excited to see that Goatacado was in The Fan. My Japanese bowl and arepa bites were deeeeeeelicious! Of course I had to order the featured iced tea again. I took my boyfriend and chihuahua here during an afternoon trip to Richmond. He loved the Californian in a naan wrap. It's good; not great. I got the Vietnamese wrap with chicken added - fresh veggies, tasty/chewy bread, and good flavor. Also got an iced tea which is delicious. The portion size of this wrap is a lot bigger than most wraps I've seen; but my lunch was $17! Goatocado's (semi) brick & mortar location inside of Carytown Bicycle Co is so awesome for a healthy lunch in Carytown! On a hot day, the last thing you need is a greasy burger and fries or a cheesy slice of pizza for lunch. At least that ain't what I need! So the other day when it was hot enough to fry an egg on the street, I just had to get a light, refreshing lunch. I remembered that Goatocado was inside of Carytown Bicycle Co, so in I went. I chose the Athena bowl and it was so fresh and satisfying! I was worried that the dressing would be too heavy, but it was just perfect. There was so much flavor packed in that tiny bowl. I thought I would just have a taste of it and save the rest for later, but I ended up scarfing down the whole thing because it was that good. Let's also talk about how gorgeous the space is. We've seen Goatacado at the South of The James Farmer's Market and just hadn't tried it yet so when we were around the corner today we had the perfect opportunity to give it a go and we were amazed! I got the California naan wrap and my husband got the California mac'n'cheese with added tofu. The flavors were incredible and the portion sizes were awesome! Popped in today for a quick midday bite. The interior of this scaled-down hangar style building was rustic and modern at the same time; really unique. They suspend light fixtures using what appears to be climbing paraphernalia and there is a colorful strobe globe contraption that emits a pattern of fun light that coats a slab of the concave ceiling in a shimmering mixture of RGB. We got two different ramen to go. Thai and Mexican. The latter wasn't thrilling, even as far as veggie/vegan ramen goes, but the Thai version was tasty and just the right amount of spice. Normally getting ramen to go is a no-go for me, as I feel it really detracts from the experience, so this may be impactful enough to have altered my perception of the meal.. I first tried Goatocado at the SPCA's Dog Jog over a year ago and was impressed by how fresh their ingredients were. Now, almost a year later, I am still stunned by the quality of their ingredients in their delicious bowls. This time, my boyfriend and I decided to take our order to go since we had our dogs with us and it was raining outside (they do have a patio, but it is uncovered). We ordered the Californian bowl and Japanese bowl, as well as a side of naan. Both were incredibly delicious, healthy, and more than enough for dinner. I've seen this food truck around a lot but the line has always deterred me from trying it. Finally, I got the chance! I was told to ask for a special that wasn't on the menu. The guy that took our order made us a mac n cheese/salad dish which was DELISH! I now understand the lines and will gladly wait in them. I love that this food trucks food is something different . I have stopped here both for coffee [which was delicious] and for lunch- a billy chili bowl. The small bowl is a plenty large serving for most people and comes with tasty greens and fluffy quinoia as a bed to serve the bean and sweet-potato chili. I could wish that the paper bowl was waxed, since I'm afraid it leaked a tiny bit, though thankfully not til after i had it set on a table, but the contents were ridiculously delicious, and well-priced, so I can't complain much. The Californian Naan wrap was sooo tasty, with the avocado and apple really bringing out a sweet, but creamy flavor. We couldn't get enough stuffed into our mouths! The new location is open!!!! Stopped in for a quick, late lunch yesterday and I was really pleasantly surprised. They provide quick, healthy option in the fan lunch scene. Expect a friendly, warm, hipster vibe. I told the guy at the register that I had never eaten there before and he made several recommendations. The offer bowls and broth bowls. I decided on their most popular- the Californian- over quinoa and mixed greens. The Californian comes with black beans, an apple-corn salsa, gouda, avocado, and a pineapple-chipotle dressing. I added charred jalapeños to mine (for free) and grilled chicken (for 2.75). Chicken was the only protein option to add, but it was served warm and was super flavorful. I hope that in the future, they might consider adding some different proteins for the carnivores. I loved the bowl! It was a very large portion of healthy, hearty ingredients. Outdoor seating with Tibetan Prayer Flags to keep you company. 4. Quick turn around time from order to table. 5. Easy for vegetarians and vegans. 6. Fried eggs were actually cooked very well. Cons: 1. The trash disposal area outside is a turn off. 2. Kinda disorganized service, unclear whether you pick up food from the counter or it's brought to the table. 3. Many of the ingredients are raw, which is good, but members of my party felt the flavor was lacking. 4. A bit pricey for amount of food you get. --- What to get: I got the Vietnamese inspired bowl with an egg, which was pretty good; also, another of my party thought the California bowl was tasty. I placed my order and sat down with my drink and almost as soon as I sat down they called my name for the food--talk about speedy service! Looking around town for a place to eat, almost hangry, and I find this little GEM. Foe me that I'm new to the area it was hidden but I just looked at the perfect moment and it was instant love. Very charming place, kind of reminded me of Toronto Distillery District restaurant vibes. The service was phenomenal, the server helped me to choose what to eat because they do have incredible vegetarian options. After wanting all of them I choose the sweet potato chili and OMG it was to die for. I paired it with a fresh lemonade it all made me forgot that I was "hangry" before. It was seasoned but not heavy. The blend of all veggies and chicken was really enjoyable. It's the kind of meal you feel healthy eating, so you don't mind stuffing your face.
