This tea house Restaurant is in Lewis Ginter Botanical gardens and in my opinion within one of the more beautiful areas of the gardens. They always have an interesting menu that has rotated every time I have been. I have only been for dinner and not sure if they are open for lunch or not. Service is friendly and efficient. I had the crab bisque to start and it was delish, the ribeye for dinner which was much more fatty than I like but tasty and cheesecake for desert. I always enjoy having dinner here.

I went here with my mom for Mother's Day and we both were under impressed. We walked in and was greeted by an unenthused hostess who sat us at our table. 10 minutes later our waitress came out and apologized for being delayed and took our drink and food orders. My mom ordered the spinach pie and I had the Gravlax Benedict. 5 minutes after we put in our orders the waitress came back and imported us that the spinach pie was unavailable at the time. The restaurant opened at 10am and we had reservations for 11 and when we got here the place was less than half empty. We both were wondering why they had run out. Either way, my mom got the Benedict plate as well. The food and drinks came out quick which made me think that a lot of it was prepared before hand. The food itself was good. We both enjoyed that they put smoked salmon on the Benedict as opposed to the traditional Canadian bacon. It was very tasty and I would absolutely eat it again. The other issue I have with this place other than the underwhelming service and lack of menu items is that my mom and I had reservations for 2. My boyfriend decided to come into town for the weekend and I called asking if I could add another person to the party. They said "no" because they were full but when we were sat today we were at a table for 4 and the place was definitely not full. Less than half full when looking around. So that was quite disappointing. I think this place has the potential to be great but they have a few things to fix.

Salmon bowl--smoked salmon; salad w grilled chicken was fresh; good veggie option of grilled cheese w homemade tomato soup. Yum!

Best Key lime pie in town and we have tried enough key lime in our yrs that we should be connoisseurs (eating, not baking)---Classic recipe and perfect balance w the crust as well. Lunch was good too. Inside Lewis Ginter so went before the butterfly exhibit to walk off lunch. Perfect afternoon delight in good ole RVA.

I really wanted to like this place more. I've been here twice, and the first time I came it was a casual coffee and snack moment with my daughter. I loved it then. I found out the chef has celiacs, like me, and could prepare me a completely gluten free dish. Everything was delicious. The weather was perfect, and we sat in the gorgeous terrace overlooking the gardens. It was a little overpriced but I ignored it and decided I would give it at least 4 stars when I wrote my review. Then we went back for Mother's Day brunch, and this is when I became disappointed. We paid $35 per person for a three course meal that left a lot to be desired. The food simply was not that good. Normally I would have given this restaurant a 2 star rating, based on its food and the ambiance inside, which was warm and muggy, except to be fair, there are other things I love about it. Like I said before, the outdoor seating is the bomb dignity, and the chef understands food allergies. I will still be back here when I visit the gardens, but only for a cup of coffee and maybe dessert.

One of the best spots in downtown Richmond (Scott's addition area) for a small group to enjoy a great meal in a cozy setting! Only street parking is available, but it wasn't too difficult to find a spot. The atmosphere: Very rustic vibe with some farmhouse-style decor. They have table, high-top, bar, and patio seating available. The food: I opted for the Chicken and Waffles with a side of cheese grits. I chose to make it hot for more spice. It's served with one whole waffle, two large pieces of fried chicken, and syrup on the side. The chicken was not seasoned as much as I hoped and wasn't as spicy as I expected, which was a bummer. The cheese grits were alright as well, but not as flavorful as I hoped. My partner ordered the Double Barrel Bowl, and he really enjoyed it. It was packed with pulled pork and was plentiful and filling. The service: Great and kind service from Mave (I believe that is her name but I'm not entirely sure). She informed us about the daily specials and was attentive throughout our visit.

If they aren't part of the decor, it was a treat nonetheless. We stepped inside from the rain with a parking spot very near the door. I snapped a pic on the way in to capture it's essence. We risked another walk-in with no reservations, and we snagged two prime end seats on the communal table. There were two open seats at the bar as well; might come in handy some other rainy Thursday night. The server, Murphy M., judging by the receipt, who helped my partner and I with our order, was a gracious host and incredibly well-practiced. It was a master class in serving, made effortless by him. He could not have been more accommodating, as we saw him appear inevitably at the exact right moments. Our server offered us bread and oil before the appetizer. The bread here is made fresh daily. It was so soft, I could not tell the difference from store bought. The food was exquisitely well prepared, the chefs and kitchen staff are immensely skilled. The appetizer was presented to us within a relatively short amount of time. We had time for a short discussion before the it arrived. The Tiropita was described as "four pieces of heaven." Accurate. The phyllo was thin and crisp, and the feta was creamy and delicious. I was careful not to bite too hard and ruin my pants. I had the Kotopoulo, which is a feta-brined oven-baked chicken with lemon and herbs served with lemon potatoes. The dish was cooked to perfection. The cooked potatoes were exactly as I like them, soft yet held their shape. It was an excellent meal, if a bit unwieldy (it's like half a rotisserie chicken, basically). My partner had the Hilopites, an egg noodle dish with giant beans, pine nuts, kalamata olives, cherry tomatoes, and feta, in a creamy, savory sauce that I couldn't begin to describe with mere words. The meals were both stunning, made unclear by my disastrous photography. All that being said, I did not really enjoy my meal as I was expecting. Maybe it's me, maybe it's today, or maybe the flavors simply weren't what I am accustomed to with the dozens of Greek restaurants from my past. I'm uncertain, and that's okay sometimes. Either way, it was a fantastic experience, and I will dine here again.

The bartender Luke was on his game and got me water and coffee quickly there after. The place was busy but everything seemed to work like a well oiled machine. The house coffee is solid and they did have a cold coffee option. The spicy bloody mary with the bacon was one of my favorites - definitely a more homemade vibe which was what I prefer. I also got their current jello shot (lemon and lavender) which was refreshing and big for $3. The menu had a bunch of items that caught my eye - breakfast burrito, pancake stacks, eggs benedict, etc. I went with the breakfast burrito with a side of sweet potato has. The burrito was great - filling but not super large, though I would have loved a tiny bit more jalapenos personally. Even without a meat, it was tasty and well balanced, especially with the side sriracha sour cream. I definitely need to come back to try the chicken salad or grilled cheese or some pancakes because everything looked fantastic. Service was quick, food was great, prices were solid. They have outdoor seating, bar seating, and friendly folks working. I'll definitely be back.
