I loved it! So delicious! I bookmarked this spot on one of my last trips and forgot, so I am so glad I browsed my Yelp bookmarks today when in search of a quick lunch spot. Parking is street and can be bad at night (I know bc it's near Shyndigz which is a nightmare for parking at night) but I had no issues at 3pm on a Friday finding parking right out in front. I found super friendly and helpful staff inside who answered all my questions about options and sizes of portions and helped guide me towards a really good first choice. I like the concept - you choose a wrap or bowl and select the flavor profile and ingredients from presets like Japanese, California, Mediterranean and Vietnamese. They have house-made na'an wraps that I'm sure are amazing but I opted for lower carb on this trip. I chose a Vietnamese bowl with the quinoa and greens base for $8.75 because I wanted some mushrooms. It was a flavor win - so delicious - I inhaled it and literally loved every single bite. It was a large portion so I couldn't finish it - but I tried very hard. Overall - it comes with seared garlic-ginger mushrooms, diced cucumber, fresh herbs, and quick-pickled carrots, onion, red cabbage, and diakon radish. Topped with vegan basil aioli, peanut sauce, toasted sesame seeds and fresh avocado. Yum. I also tried the Billy Mac which is their amazing sweet potato kale chili (YUM) on top of their mac and cheese (noodles smothered in a creamy four cheese sauce topped with shredded gouda) then topped with vegan basil aioli and sharp white cheddar cheese. This stuff was AMAZEBALLS. Overall - everything was perfect. I was very happy with my meal, service, ambiance and experience. If I was asked where to get a healthy but still tasty meal, I'd 100% vote this restaurant. They grow their own produce which makes the meal so much better. My favorite meal is the Vietnamese quinoa bowl. Im unsure what they marinate their mushrooms with but they are amazing! The service is decently fast and there's always the option to order online. They don't really have indoor seating (just a waiting area inside) but they do have outdoor seating with cute little fire pits. read more

The Mexican Ramen is pretty rad. This Mexican would personally love just a little hominy in it, but then it might veer too Mexican instead of riding the line of Mexican/Japanese fusion. Everything has avocado in it. You know, the good fat. I really enjoyed the food here and my wife was equally pleased. This place is NOT for fussy eaters or uncultured baby boomers. I had the Japanese bowl w/chicken and xtra avocado. It was all quite good, I'm digging for the chicken when I realized the guy who took my order forgot the chicken. It was easily fixed once I asked him. I guess who mistook me for a vegetarian. Easy to order, and pay and there are several tables inside a some outside as well. Solid 3.5 stars! I got a Japanese tofu quinoa and greens bowl and Billy chili. The bowl had cashews, edamame, red bell peppers, shredded carrots, cucumbers, topped with some dried seaweed and half of avocado. Dressing was average Asian ginger but added sweet flavor to the bowl that lacked flavor. Quinoa was a little overdone and avocado was tiny. Tofu had no flavor and a bit chewy (should be soft in the inside) But overall, the bowl had a good mix of veggies and filled me up. I felt health in my mouth. The Billy chili. It was amazing. Warmed even the bottomest of my stomach and my heart. I didn't know it was sweet potato kale chili until I read the description. For $3, I tasted heaven. Get this for yourself. Service was fast and they use environmental friendly paper boxes. Theres inside and outside seatings. They also sell beer, if you think your food was too healthy. read more

This is a lovely place to get a drink & a bite with a friend on the weekend or after work! They have a lovely outdoor seating area where your pets can join you! I tried a few different items: pomegranate Gingerade, Billy Mac, & Naan bites.. out of those items my favorite was by far the Billy Mac! It was delicious, and a good value!! It was a wonderful combination of quality cheese & meat, what else could you ask for?! The pomegranate gingerade was alright, but definitely could go without.. especially considering they don't do refills on it even though it's almost as much as the Billy Mac haha. I frequented Goatocado's stand when it was regularly on campus during lunch time. I decided to pop in to their brick and mortar place to see what it was like and I was not disappointed! Lovely little establishment on Main st which as much outdoor seating as indoor seating. The menu was unsurprisingly a lot more expansive here than at the stand (ramen, pita pockets? Lots of other cool things). I ordered the California toppings on a bed of Mac and cheese. The service was awesome and our food was out in literally 3 minutes tops. It was about $9 but absolutely worth every penny. Lots of food! Everything was fresh and very apparent that they use high quality ingredients in their food. The great quality of the stand remains in their brick and mortar establishment. One of best lunches I've ever eaten! read more

Goatcado is a healthy, locally sourced food establishment that I was quite surprised by. Walking in, there are two kiosks you can order off of, and several produce items you can purchase. The food is a bit expensive ($13-$17 for an entree) but was well worth it. There was minimal contact with the employees here as you order, pay, and then just wait for your number to be called, but the person who gave us our food was very friendly. I got the California mac and cheese. It was Smokey, fruity, creamy and so delicious! Something I wasn't expected was the Mac and cheese to not be warm. It kind of threw me off because I felt like I was eating a pasta salad instead of a hot bowl of Mac and cheese. I really wanted to love Goatocado, but I just did not feel that the cost was at all commensurate with the value. All of the ingredients tasted very fresh, but the flavors did not work for me. It felt like they just threw a bunch of random things together. My soup, for instance, had ingredients that had been seared before being thrown in. There was no distinctive flavor or theme that I could pick up on. My friend and I were having a really hard time choosing a vegan-friendly dinner place in Richmond and finally decided on Goatocado despite it being on my Yelp Bookmarks list for the longest time. It was a delicious decision #alliteration. My boyfriend and I split the Mexican ramen with added jalapenos +0.00 and Thai ramen with added mushrooms +1.00. Ramen is not what you'd expect to be served here, but it is why I can't wait to go back. Honestly the best restaurant vegan ramen I've had because they're not trying to replicate a traditional ramen which is better served with a meat-based broth-they make it unique here, adding non-traditional ingredients and bases that really blend well to create a flavorful and delicious vegetable broth. For example, they took all the flavors of a traditional vegetarian-friendly green curry and turned it into a ramen, so I highly recommend the Thai ramen if you like green curry. I don't like eating out much anymore because of all of the crap that's in food anymore. My friend convinced me to have lunch with her here, I was only going to go for the kombucha.. however, after looking over the menu I was so impressed that there was food I could actually eat here. All veggies, no over salting, dressing on the side (I don't do dressings because the oils make me sick.) it was like having a meal from home. Long story short, great, fresh, real healthy (not just advertised as) real food. I will be back anytime I go down main st. Crew was super friendly. Drinks were great. I went to folk fest in Salisbury yesterday and came across GOATOCADO! The Mediterranean bowl was bright, colorful , and packed with so much flavor . I added the organic chicken. Rather expensive but was so worth it. I could eat this food everyday. Chick peas, red cabbage, cucumber, tomatoes, feta, avocado with a dill tahini dressing. So much protein. I dig this vegetarian, fast-casual eatery. When we visited on a Saturday afternoon, there was a small vendor selling fruit right outside the eatery! The menu offers an eclectic array of flavors - from Japanese to Vietnamese to Mediterranean bowls. Both the hubby and I got the Vietnamese bowls with organic quinoa and baby greens and he got chicken as an add-on. Although the kitchen messed up my order and gave me the Mediterranean instead of the Vietnamese, my wonderful hubby gave me his so I still got my Vietnamese fix. My bowl was fresh and had an abundance of fresh herbs, carrots, daikon radish and onion. The pickling of these veggies definitely tasted Vietnamese, but the flavors could have been developed a few more notches - I definitely would have preferred stronger flavors from the basil aioli, peanut sauce and sesame as I couldn't really taste those flavors. We ordered a side of Mac & Cheese and arepa bites, which were yummy. Definitely dip the arepas in the pineapple-chipotle and peanut sauces, as those were a party full of flavor! read more

I finally went to the brick and mortar Goatocado restaurant across from the Visual Arts Center in The Fan and, wow, it was good! It's a small location with seating for maybe fifteen inside as well as a patio with additional seating and a fire pit outside. It might be a bit of a tight squeeze, but it is wheelchair and stroller accessible. It's street parking only, but we were able to get free spots right in front of the restaurant. As a fast casual restaurant you order at the counter and wait for your name to be called when your food is ready. I really liked the simple decor at the fact that the food prep area and kitchen are completely open, so you can see all the fresh, whole foods that go into your meal. The menu consists of ramen, bowls, wraps, and sandwiches that are around $10 each, give or take a few dollars if you add proteins like chicken or tofu. They also serve fresh juices and have very reasonably priced beers on tap. Service was fast and friendly on a Friday night. I got the Californian bowl on the quinoa and greens base and added tofu. The tofu was the perfect texture, and the sweetness of the apples and corn with the smoked gouda and black beans was the perfect balance of flavors. It was surprisingly filling and I was stuffed when I left. My friends ordered the Thai ramen which they said was spicy, delicious, and better than another ramen specialty restaurant a few blocks away. They also got arepa bites, but said they prefer the naan version. I will definitely be back here again and will be on the lookout for their food truck. read more
